I'm trying to install ENB's to my fallout new vegas for the first time. I realize I can put the "d3d9.dll" file into the regular new vegas folder with the launcher without the launcher crashing. Watch some tutorials and they recommend putting the file into "exes" folder, but I can't seemed to find it in the new vegas game folder.

That is pretty simple.It means that you just have to put d3d9.dll where your FalloutNV.exe located, as well as FalloutNVLauncher.exe.

My apologies for poor explanation.When you are installing any kind of ENB, you always have to put its files in your Fallout New Vegas folder, not in Data folder.The only manipulations with Data folder are appearing if your ENB requires an additional mod to be installed.

What do you mean by mod organizer? I have the nexus mod manager but I don't think enbs have anything to do with that i'm just wondering if there is another way for me to install the d3d9.dll without it crash my launcher

Yes I have put the file where most people recommended, but the game launcher crashes even with and without an ENB file with it.

@"daphunk" try to make one exe folder yourself i never tried it but i guess it works

As far as I know the folder "exes" is a part of the 4gb enabler.

Do you have the 4gb enabler? If you do not have it I'd recommend installing it.


What ENB are you trying to install? might help because some ENB require some tweaking and such. It may also have custom weather that MIGHT be related to your problem.


Try verify the game cache on steam you might have deleted somethin thus crashing your game.
