I sometimes find myself coming back to playing the classics every now and then. While I love these games, I just wonder if you think they still hold up today in Story, Gameplay, Graphics. Some say they do, others say they don't, whats your opinion?
(I still think Fallout 1 had the best story imo)

@"crojas909" In my opinion they are still good in their own way, they are funnier, no politically correct, and give you more control on your story but they are getting old and that's why a lot of people can't play them ("oh that's ugly" or "wtf is that camera" are things my friend told me ^^). I don't have any preference between 1 and 2 to be honest both are pretty good.

I love the classic fallouts. Fallout 2 is the best but they both have great characters and stories.
They even hold up graphically. I showed them to one of my friends a few months ago and the first thing he said was "those sprites and animations are gorgeous".
They're a breath of fresh air compared to most modern games that focus on graphics and multiplayer over just having a great story.

@Decer Well, slavery and sex were a thing in Fallout 3 (slavery) and New Vegas (sex). I just hate that new games are being censored/made "politicaly correct" just to get more people to buy it. I mean, come on! That just doesn't make any sense to me.
OT: I never played the "original" Fallouts (aka anything before Fallout 3) so I can't speak from experience, but from what I saw in let's plays and reviews they're seemingly pretty good games. I guess I'd like them, since they're made by the same guys as Fallout NV (which is my favourite Fallout game) and graphics were never a problem for me (I still play MGS and NWN, for example).

@zoro4661 Yup, thats the point. Caaaash, moar cash.
What i'm talking about, in FO2 you can actually be a slaver. And that sex-related dialogue in FO3 and NV, damn, i'm playing in postapocalypse. I mean, Fallout is a cruel and dark place.
Spoiler:
Thank god we had loverslab for this thing.

@Decer Exactly, cash is what they want! That's why I don't understand it! It's not like sex and other controversial stuff sells bad, especially with a well-known series like Fallout and TES. Wolfenstein and Metro both have sex and nazis, and Hatred's whole marketing campain was basically all the (stupid, senseless, idiotic, dumb) controversy around it. Yet they all sold well! The Wolfenstein and Metro games are well made, good games and come from series that the public knows and loves (The classic Wolfenstein games and the fantastic Metro books). Even Hatred, even though it's a new and seemingly bland game, sold pretty well. Also, what's wrong with the sex dialogue in NV? It's been a while since I encountered it, but at least it was a valid option, other than Fallout 3.
Anyway, back on topic. Since old and retro games seem to be all the rage these days (I sound like a clishe parent), Fallout 1 and 2 and whatever else there is to it, probably still hold up pretty well. A lot of games with old looking graphics are still coming out, and it's not like Fallout's graphics are ancient. Besides, a lot of other stuff in the games make up for it.

@"Decer" @"zoro4661" I don't think cash is the main reason the game became more politically correct. The main reason in my opinion is that video game don't have the same place in society than when Fo1 and 2 came out. During that time video game was something a small part of the population was playing and something the politics didn't saw has offensive. Now every one play video game (on pc, console or phone) there is test of the big new video game in the most mainstream newspaper website (fallout 4, mgs V or CoD). There's a bigger group that will fight video game because of "moral".

@zoro4661 Hatred! I Love Hatred! Such relaxing and epic game, i remember everybody's whining about "oooh, it soo merciless and violent, lets ban it"
What's wrong? Its boring FadeToBlackNoEvenSounds. Old games will always be awesome, im still playing The Ultimate Doom, Syndicate and much more Genesis games on GENS emulator. Its not about graphics, its about idea, fun, content.
There's something romantic in sprites

I still recommend any of my friends who just getting familiar with the franchise to play it. The original Black Isle team was a bunch of genius with a very interesting view and portrait of American culture. It was part of my upbringing that ultimately made me decided to move to America and became a citizen. Such well thought out scenarios, back stories, and dark twisted humor. In fact. I think the two original games deserve a professional remade.

Any games can hold out on story, the gameplay is dependable (i.e: some people prefer the ways the old games are played, take platform games for example, some still like them while some don't), and graphics is probably not.
