Today begins the first Official Wallpaper Contest for GUNetwork

This means a lot more effort should go into your submissions than just taking a screenshot
but that implies more impressive results as well! Channel your inner designer and participate!

P A R T I C I P A T I N G

What this contest requires is a custom image representing Gaming Underground Network
Towards this purpose, it should have the title of the site somewhere, regardless of form (one of the following is acceptable but feel free to try new variations if you feel inspired): G.U.N., GUNetwork, Gaming Underground Network, GUNetwork.org, www.gunetwork.org
Other text and visuals are up to you!  
As such, you may include mottoes, logos, titles, quotes, sticky notes messages or even poems on it as long as it's relevant to our forums and not offensive to anyone.
As far as colors, shapes, effects or filters, the only limit is your imagination  

You may include screenshots but only if they're your own made, or with
express permission from their author, whom you must clearly credit for them  

Should you use fan-art, you have to obtain permission from its original author  

As far as official concept art goes you don't need permission,
but you should include the logo of the developer or publishing company
somewhere in the wallpaper (it may be a tiny logo, as long as it's visible)

If video-games imagery is to be used, we should cover a wide range of games
and not be single-minded and/or short-sighted on one singular franchise
( you all know which one I mean   )
This means that although a wallpaper may feature a single game's image in it, I hope we don't see an overwhelming number of wallpapers showing that same game again and again.
This site is for more than a game.  


As usual, we will not allow nudity, excessive gore or offensive imagery, symbols or text
 

The minimum size of the wallpaper should be 1280x720
but feel free to go Ultra HD if you can, and anything in between!

How many? There's no limit to the number of wallpapers you can submit, just try to include them all in one single post in this topic, and use [ spoiler ] tags around them to help browsing be manageable and the pics only a click away.

Submissions will close on the 25th of September
and the winners announced by the 1st of October!

W I N N I N G

Every decent submission will receive at least one +1 reputation

We'll have a Top 3 G.U.N. Wallpapers list if there are less than 20 participating members.
Should we have submissions from at least 20 members, we will choose 5 Winners

The winners will be decided by the Gfx Specialists
with the optional help of Overseers and/or Paladins

This doesn't mean that Gfx Specialists, Overseers or Paladin cannot participate in the contest and submit their own banners. On the contrary, I expect them to show us some amazing, mind-bending stuff! However, they will not vote on their own work, the others will. Simple as that

The winning pictures will be included in our Forumotion Galleries
and on our Official GUNetwork Modding Facebook page.
The member whose wallpaper is chosen as Number 1 will be offered to join the GFX Specialists    
The #1 Wallpaper will also be used in other promotional and official G.U.N. posts  
Other rewards may or may not follow  

Do it for the challenge, for the satisfaction, for the prestige and for the glory!
But most of all do it for the memories of participating in this event!

Okay I think I should give a bit of direction to help you guys out a bit.
You can ignore my comments if you don't find them relevant.
I don't wanna control your creativity.
I just am worried that some of you misunderstood
what is expected of a decent Wallpaper submission.
So take this as constructive advice:

@Vexillarious & @falloutveteran20 - is that character art that you've used yours?
if not, did you credit it properly or get permission?
did you apply the publisher's logo for the concept art?
re-read the rules once over and see if you can correct any shortcomings
so that you won't be disqualified.

Also, Vex, I added spoiler tags to your image.

@Svide - is that your screenshot? Also, the color of the text doesn't really fit. Try to reproduce the sky gradient, at a 90 degree angle over the text, or just leave it simply white. Not breaking any rules, it's simply an aesthetic suggestion to improve your submission

@aerystmd - GUN Network means "Gaming Underground Network Network"

Other than that, I'd like to remind you all that screenshots aren't necessary, but they aren't disallowed either. I'd like to see some more work put into the screenshots ones, though, other than just slapping a text over it.
Also, try to focus the banner on representing our forums, our community, even if ever so slightly.
It will be our calling card (at least for a while) so it should impress, it should inspire us to set it as our desktop backgrounds

TL;DR: Main points of this particular intervention are the following:
1. This isn't a screenshot contest. Be more creative.
2. The wallpaper is supposed to represent the site.
3. Don't forget to credit the source of your used images.

I made one, or rather three if you wish. I do prefer the last one but the other two are nice too. I wanted to make some of the text go behind the tree but it just covered too much so I went with this instead.

so i found a sceenshot i took when i use to play on intel integrated graphics and after alot of hard work i made a pretty good wallpaper tell me what you think

Took inspiration from Bioshock Infinite propaganda (more precisely the Martyr of the Revolution Booker Dewitt poster that you can see in the game). I really like the way it's drawn/painted so I decided to make a very similar poster only using a Fallout character.

The character and the background are both painted by me and the two fonts that are used came from DaFonts website so credit goes to the creators of those. Took me a while because my computer kept crashing and I kept losing my progress. Hope it complies with all of the rules!

I'll try and make another one that isn't Fallout later but I'd already started this one and I wanted to finish it. Hope you like!
