| Hey GUNners! So I finally got my hands on Fallout 4 but believe it or not my computer can not run it for sh*t. So I'm looking for a new laptop that can run it on medium to high settings, 40-60 FPS. I stopped by Best Buy and they had me look at this laptop here.

Do you guys think it could meet those standards? Is it worth the price? Any other suggestions would be EXTREMELY helpful such as how to build it. Thanks guys!

| High might be pushing it a bit, but medium should do fine with the 960M. However, if you don't get an SSD, load times are going to be murderous.
Laptops are pretty limiting to be honest: Gigabyte does some decent ones. This one comes to mind, sacrificing a slightly poorer CPU for a better GPU which in my opinion is well worth it. However, price is missing, so you might have to shop around for that. _________________ |

| Word of caution regarding Lenovo laptops: If later on down the road you decide to replace a component it has to be Lenovo certified: i.e. a Lenovo part either obtained from Lenovo or an authorized re-seller. You cannot install a non-Lenovo part into their laptops. If you do install a non-Lenovo part then a moment after you hit the power button a message will pop-up asking you to power down the laptop and remove the unauthorized part and the unit will not boot any further.
Personally, if you wanted to get a good gaming laptop I'd go with MSI. Their models are slightly pricier but the quality is well worth the price. Here is a listing from NewEgg with several models to choose from utilizing a nVidia GTX 970M. I recommend getting a minimum of 8GB DDR4 2133Mhz RAM, 15.6" 1080p LED screen and a SSD. You could do 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) but in no way you'll be able to play Fallout 4 maxxed. More like low to medium.
One way to get a feel for a laptop is to go to a B&M such as Best Buy or whatever retail store is in your area. There you'll be able to get a bit of hands-on with a series of laptops from various manufacturers.
Even though I am a major Asus fan due to having sold/installed hundreds of their motherboards, video cards and laptops, their RMA process needs a great deal of refinement before I can fully recommend them. _________________ i7 4790k @ 4Ghz, 4.4 Turbo Asus Z97-AR Custom Liquid Cooling Patriot 16 GB (4 x 8 GB) 2133 @ 11-11-11-27 eVGA GTX Titan X @ Stock Samsung EVO 1 TB SSD - O/S Samsung EVO 1 TB SSD - Storage Seasonic X-1250 Power Supply Thermaltake Core X9 Chassis Samsung UD590 3840 x 2160 Windows 7 Ultimate x64

| Thanks for the feedback guys. I have been checking out your recommendations and I must say they are extremely helpful so far. I was also taking a look at some Alienware laptops, mainly the Alienware 15. I know they are a bit over priced but would that get the job done?

| This is just my personal opinion, but believe that gaming on a laptop is not a good idea. Heat and Noise management is poor on all so called, "Gaming Laptops". I would recommend you build your own desktop system. With my PC, I run at Medium, 1920X1080p with FXAA, No Godrays, and Standard DOF at 60 Frames-per-Second. My Specs: CASE BitFenix Comrade Midi-Tower
HDD 1TB Seagate Barracuda 3.5" SATA III
DVDRW LiteOn 24x Internal
CPU AMD FX-6300 3.50GHz (4.10GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ (6-Core)
RAM 8GB (2x4GB) Crucial Ballistix Sport 1600MHz DDR3
GPU 2GB Sapphire Radeon R9 270X Dual-X Boost OC
MOBO Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P AMD Socket AM3+
PSU EVGA 500W 80 Plus |

| @DaltonMangum: If he wants a laptop, let him get one. We all know the downsides of a gaming laptop: there's also the upside of playing wherever you want. There are plenty of legitimate reasons to get a gaming laptop. @teegfonv: What parts is your Macbook rocking though? That's the important part. _________________ |
