Or it could be a bug or an oversight... they are managing hundreds of thousands of files and millions of lines of code, after all.
I'm not sure why people always flock to 'lazy developers' when there's something they dislike about a game. There's nothing 'lazy' about game development on the scale that they work in.
For example the player character... each gender has over 13,000 lines of spoken dialogue, which more than Shepard has in all 3 Mass Effect games combined. Whatever Bethesda's problems are... I don't suspect laziness is one of them.

First day of NOT playing Fallout all the time, found some time to visit the forums. I love this game, hate some of the changes to some features but generally I'm astonished Bethesda gave us something so great. The story is amazing, never before in a Beth game did I rush into the main quest because it was just so emotionally intense, least for me. The only thing that will always make me go frowny face is the "supposedly" expanded music selection while its mostly repeated songs from Fallout 3. And I am disappointed Bethesda didnt think about using the song We'll meet again somewhere during the story.

@Tesvixen, OK I take it back.. It's not laziness but probably more of actual choices made since they used the Skyrim engine, which already had those dynamics to begin with, but eventually not included. To add, the settlement missions are good but needs a bit of control. I'm at a part right now were rescue ops are ridiculously spammed. I hope there's a fix for this sooner than later.

Now that I agree with fully... I've had to rescue like 6+ Sanctuary settlers in the past 2 days. I'm starting to wonder why my 30 laser turrets aren't doing their jobs...

Haha! Exactly! Have quite the same deal too. I even had a settler that was kidnapped so I had to rescue her.. & the spot that was assigned where I had to get her was just cleared very recently. So when I went there.. she was just standing there, all by her lonesome, surrounded by the corpses that were slaughtered. Just walked in then walked out with no resistance. It's quite silly. Really hope there's a fix.
Now even if this aspect of the settlement missions is silly.. the aspect were cleared dungeons, settlement arrangements.. basically rearranged clutter left in the wake of your tampering is the greatest praise I have so far, in terms of the game engine. With so many "no loading doors" structures & buildings, I find it very impressive to have such stability. Haven't experienced any drastic stutters/fps drops or crashes yet. I also find it impressive that loose clutter, like food placed on a plate, remains where they are placed even after adventuring for some time.
Question: I'm looking for a home that actually have "loading doors" or have their own cell. Would appreciate suggestions, if there are such player homes. Kinda tired of NPCs stealing/using my power armors during raids.

You do get a (small) player home option upon completing
Click for Spoiler:
Vault 81 quests.
But its only like, a room.
The best way to prevent NPCs from hijacking power armor is to remove the cores from them when not in use.

You can buy Home Plate in Diamond City for I think 2,000 caps and you can decorate it like a settlement with the workshop

Well i am done with the game and to be fair i am very disppointed with and will most likey not be my GOTY this year let me exlain why.
The weapons are amazing i love them, so many and the weapon customisation is super fun.
The Armor is okay, i like the layered armor but they could of have added some more heavy layered armor.
I really like the voiced protaginist myself and i really wanted to always have a voiced protaginist.
The world is umm i guess i could kinda boring, most of the places i explored were just boring, i didnt have so much fun with like Fallout 3 or New Vegas.
The Settlements are just wierdly designed, like you cant make a full town because there is a limit which is stupid, you can't place walls and other objects in the most obvious places because it is in red, etc:
But the thing i am mostly disapointed with is the Story itself, after you find the Institute the game just becomes repetitive, if you are playing for the Bos it is the same missions over and over, go fetch that, build that, fetch this again, build that again, that isn't what i payed £50 for
Spoiler:
So in 7 years of Development they couldn't at least give each faction an Unique ending sequence? 3 of them share the EXACT same cutscene.... New Vegas had an 18 month dev time and it had 6 main endings with hundreds of ending permutations.... This is just lazy.
Fallout 4 for me has to be a 7.8/10, maybe with quest mods this game will be better but i don't think so, Obsidian did a much better job, really disappointed with you Bethesda.

If you've done the Last Voyage of USS Constitution, Ironsides gives you the captain quarter on the ship (it's IN the ship so of course you'll loading screen).

I had fun with the main quest, sidequests, characters, weapons and everything else....still am. Hunted down all Bobbleheads (Magazine's and all power armor locations are next on my list). The companions are amazing too with pretty cool backstory's and small quests to help them. So far i still gotta explore some buildings, places i forgot and do stuff with settlements but so far its been pretty good. 9.5/10 from me.....Now we wait for the DLC's.

Okay i made my honest review this time, the one before was just me mentioning some things, but now i am gonna write my honest one here.
I am really disappointed with Fallout 4, it's not what i was waiting for, all of that waiting just for the game to be a flop, let me just say that Fallout has always been my favourite game, i played Fallout 3, i played New Vegas, but this one is just not what i was hoping for, the new gameplay on the other hand is just amazing, the spriting, the grenade hotkey, enemies taking cover and dumping grenades on you just makes the game more harder for you depending what difficulty you play on.
Also did i mention that there is no Hardcore mode? Yes you heard me right there is none, there is only Survival and all it does is it makes enemies stupidly overpowered and only makes more legendary enemies spawn, like for some reason when playing on normal the enemies are tougher to kill but on hard they only need like 2 or 3 shots and they are dead. You are shooting like 500 bullets from an SMG into an enemies head and he only takes a small portion of damage.
Legendary enemies are just stupidly made, the only thing they have is health regen, after you do a decent amount of damage they just regen their health back, and thats it, nothing else, they could of have made them somewhat more interesting but they didn't.
One thing i did test was to see what would happen if i shoot Preston Garvey and you won't belive it, he doesn't die, YES you heard me half of the NPC's are essential, i have no freedom whatsoever, they want me to play the game the way it is meant to be played, until then they decide that i can shoot whoever i want, let me give you an example of something that lacks my freedom, there is a part in the game where a NPC opens a door for me like it is fu***ng Battlefield, and there is more to that, the lack of this player freedom just gets me bored to death.
The Radio Stations, and i am mostly taking about Diamond City Radio Station, the songs are fine some of them are my favourite and i will most likely use them in Fallout New Vegas, but the thing i am mostly annoyed with is the radio host, he is incredibly annoying and i hate him, they went with a very awkward and shy person and people would feel bad for him but i really really hate him, his personality is dumb and just his whole whole life is just sad and that is all about him, like i said before some of the radio songs are good but other are just taken out from Fallout 3 and dumped into Fallout 4, like i think in total there is 9 recycled songs from Fallout 3 and put into 4.
Now the characters, let me just list some of them, Kellog is a bad guy, always was, and he died a bad guy, Piper is just a journalist and just likes to be a b***h and a jerk, Preston Garvey really likes the Minuteman, don't know if you knew that, Paladin Danse likes to share war stories and Nick Valentine is a detective, they are all boring characters, for an Example Kellog is JUST a BAD GUY, he lives a bad guy, he starts of a bad guy and he dies a bad guy.
Now the leveling up system, for me the whole leveling up system is horse s**t, it does nothing differnt from the older games and is less customizable and is boring, all of the perks come in ranks which just increases the effectiveness of them, each time you level up you only get 1 SKILL point, which means that whatever Special skill points you pick at the beginning will not make any difference, some of the perks are just boring and useless such as Riflemen all it does is it gives you better accuracy with Assault Rifes or Locksmith where each rank gives you a better chance at lockpicking, it is all so boring, almost all of the perks are about shooting or killing, the also basicly swaped out the perk system very stupidly, and that is by giving Charisma the best perks and Intelligence the sh***y perks, this is no longer a RPG leveling game system they just made it into a Far Cry leveling system where each time you level up you can only pick one skill point to get better health or do more damage, they removed all of the awsome perks, where is the where is the one where you can explode into a plasma wave when you get below 10 HP, where is the one where you can regen health at sunlight? Half of them are do more damage or regen more health.
Half of the Quests are boring and repetetive, you can have the same Quests given to you by Preston Gravey or Rys, go kill that, go build that, go find that, wtf! I didn't pay £50 for this.
Also did you notice that in well lets just say that in 7 years of Development they couldn't at least give each faction an Unique ending sequence? 3 of them share the EXACT same cutscene.... New Vegas had an 18 month dev time and it had 6 main endings with hundreds of ending permutations.... This is just lazy.
But the thing i am mostly disapointed with is the Story itself, after you find the Institute the game just becomes repetitive, if you are playing for the Bos it is the same missions over and over, go fetch that, build that, fetch this again, build that again, that isn't what i payed £50 for.
Half of the explorable areas were just boring.... It wasn't so fun, like not at all, it was all the same areas, and too many urban areas, i wanted areas like in Fallout New Vegas were there was old building and caves, old army bases and instead we get boring areas
Im really disappointed with Fallout 4 all that waiting just for the game to be a flop, it isn't the worst neither does it suck, but it just isn't what i was expecting. Fallout 4 for me has to be a 6/10, maybe with quest mods this game will be better but i don't think so, Obsidian did a much better job, really disappointed with you Bethesda.
