| Hey y'all, I was wondering, since this definitely seems to be a community steaming with creativity, have any of you ever attempted to write a full blown novel, or successfully piblished one? I definitely tried many times, and have wrestled with ine particular story in my mind for 6 years, so I guess I can relate to that feeling of Writer's block (but still always manage to come back to it). _________________ "Ante up."

| Hello PROROOK This is an interesting question. I could find myself in it. I've been writing since I learned how to write when I was 12-13 years old I already had half a novel written. it was hand-written in an alphabet of my design so that nobody else can read it. I got pretty far with the novel too, but somehow never finished it.
I've written a lot of poetry since. some short stories, but mostly poetry. Last year, in October, I published my first poetry volume. It's called "The Waiting Game" I'm fairly proud of it.
As for writer's block, oh yes... have been acquainted with, befriended, begrudged and even fought with it so to speak. We're on good terms now, though. It tells me when I need a break or a refuel. But hey, it's all part of the game.
Best regards

But only can write when I'm just in the right mood. |

I am currently in the process of writing a novel series with a co-writer at the moment. Any particular questions you have? We've finished about 4 of the books, but the editing process is taking the most time. |

| @"DVAted" Glad you can relate I've been writing for quite awhile actually, started around 6-7 years old, and though the writing was egregious (reading it again always makes me cringe), I feel fairly proud about that. And congrats as well! @"lukaboot" Same here, writing tends to come when I'm in a ceetain mood, but for me it wasnt always like that. I remember there was a time when I just had to ALWAYS write, else it felt like a day wasted. Now...well I guess I have written quite alot haha @"OverTheTop123" Ahh, yes! Well congrats on your work too, but one question I have is ALWAYS the beginning. You see, with this particular story burning in my head, I struggle to grasp alot in the beginning, or immediately feel that its inadequate for the tone, history, and feel I try to establish for both the world and the character. Its a bildungsroman esque style story, so I try to enrapture that through the first person, but I always find myself reduxing or heavily editing my intros to the point where I never get passed the 100 page mark. @alexmerce984 I will keep this in mind thank you for the advice @"VenomStingerGaming" Same here, college hasnt taken a large chunk of my time away... _________________ "Ante up."

| @PROROOK363You've gotta take the pages by the horns! The first book of my series, we actually wrote backwards because we struggled to find the definitive start. It's not for everybody, but ti definitely gives you a perspective to look for. If you feel your work is lagging behind, don't be. Many people struggle, and you've already gotten 100 pages. Mind telling us a little more on what you're working on? |

| @"OverTheTop123" This idea has been under wraps for a long time, so forgive me if I seem a little enclosed, but pretty much the intro tries to enrapture a young man wrestling with this unknown feeling of a severely traumatic experience that disrupts his state of mind, and I'm trying to rhetorically (and eloquently) convey that in both a physical and metaphysical way (given the events surrounding the traumatic experience). The thing is, I know what I want to plan, the only trouble is writing it in a manner I can step back from and say "damn I wrote that?" in a good way haha _________________ "Ante up."

| @PROROOK363, I understand you wanting to keep things on a tight leash. You know, if he's dealing with this traumatic thing, it might be good to draw from some personal insight if you haven't already. I think the best way to handle something like that is to really think back to what in your life may have caused you to place that out for the character. Immerse yourself brotha, get a good soundtrack going and let it flow. |
