Hey, GUN! I was curious if you guys have seen the new launch trailer that debuted today and also your thoughts on it, as well as just on the game in general. Launch day will soon be here, and with all the leaks, I see almost as much criticism for the game already as I do praise, particularity in terms of graphics and map size. Was wondering what my fellow GUN members think so far, too. As I'm sure most of you are, despite any criticisms you might have, I'm pretty excited about the game and what possibilities it brings to the table, especially for modding, and this trailer has thrown me over the top as far hype goes. I can't say that most of the typical criticisms I see bother me though. Everything about the game looks pretty great and a huge upgrade from NV and obviously 3. If I had to pick, I'd say some of the facial animations, the blood in a lot of less intense gunfire scenarios spurting all over the place, as well as the fact that you cannot see your weapon when it's holstered are my biggest gripes with the game so far, based on what we've seen. The graphics to a certain extent, too I suppose, but only when comparing to a game like Witcher 3, however I have, for the most part, decided to reserve my final judgment for how the game looks graphically until I see it on my own monitor. Beyond that, every single weapon, armor, and environment look stunning to me. And the gunplay looks like it has been vastly improved. It looks intense. The map size doesn't bother me considering its density and how many interiors there will be. I was also curious of any mods you guys may already have in mind for the game, no matter how big, or small. I personally have been delving into the world of companion creation and have also been thinking about creating a new, more accurate representation of the night sky for the game (although the night sky already looks amazing, I just love all things space so making the night sky as realistic as possible has always been one of the first mods I go for). Looking forward to reading your guys' opinions. I feel like I haven't seen too much discussion on GUN regarding the leaks or specific details of the game. Launch trailer below for anyone who hasn't seen it.

HOLY F***K!!! Almost had tears in my eyes at the end! Thank you for the share I wasn't aware of it!
My first reaction having listened to and watched interviews with Brian Delaney and Courtenay Taylor, was pure excitement hearing their voice overs. They said multiple times that their lines didn't feel canned and you can feel it when they talk in the trailer.
It would seem the BOS has somewhat turned enclave. In Fallout 2 it was the Enclave against Mutants which was pretty much everybody. Now its the BOS against the Synths. For those familiar with Fallout Tactics, this isn't the first time they have gone up against Intelligent machines. I wonder if we might see Harkness again, that is if you didn't kill him.
Some of the character textures look bad for the cutscenes but lets hope it's just the trailer.
I'll add more thoughts after I've watched the trailer a few more times.
Yeah I've seen it, can't stop watching actually...just keep hitting replay on it. Seriously as I type this I have it open on another page. Want it now. Anyway, as far as graphics go I like them and think they're pretty damn good to be honest. Then again I'm not really about graphics. I'm more about a good story, and going from what I've seen thus far it looks as though I can expect that. So yeah, I like this launch trailer, now I'm gonna go watch it some more. Just 10 more times and then I'll stop watching it...yeah.

To add, I see something that doesn't look right in the trailer.
The woman who says, "I have a question, the only question that matters. Would you risk your life for your fellow man? Even if that man is a Synth?"
It could be the lighting or some other affect but there is a shadow streak across her neck and she seems to be deformed. Could be there is a window between her and the Antagonist which is causing this.

That is actualy the first time I've seen that trailer. I've seen other stuff, by Bethesda and some leaked stuff I came across accidentally. I love it! It looks good. Kind of gave me the chills, but in a good way.

Below her neck it looks like a light streak, kind of like what I've seen a couple times Phantom Pain, I also think she's a Synth herself. She looks rubbery, could just be a bad graphic when they captured the scene.
I'm glad I shared it then so you guys could see it. I agree some of the character textures look a little rubbery, like that woman who was talking about helping your fellow mansynth. She looks a little weird haha, but yeah that just looks like a light streak. I'm pretty curious to see how the son, Shaun, ties into the whole story. All the guns in the trailer look so badass, especially those miniguns.

You know, I'm sure the BoS are at war with the Synths for many reasons, but I have a feeling that 'spare parts' and secret technologies may be the real reason behind it. BoS, at least from my experience, are 'collectors' of tech. Maybe they have ulterior motives, but use the 'save the people' mantra as a pretext to get at it (the tech).
The trailer itself looks stunning. Graphics are fine. No they're not Witcher 3, but I honestly don't care. We can mod the crap out of this game, so why on earth do people need to complain when they know that the possibilities with a Bethesda engine are almost limitless?

The BoS would probably feel threatened by anyone with any form of superior technology. Makes sense that they'd only go after it. The graphics aren't really a bother for me most of the time. 98% of the time I think it looks great. But yeah, endless mod possibilities that would really cover/fix a lot of the common "issues" people have. It seems like a lot of people think bad graphics = lazy development and that they should be a lot better for how big the game will be and also compare it side by side to witcher 3, which has been the crown jewel of mainstream rpgs this past year. Witcher 3 looks great/better, but that doesn't feel like an entirely fair overall comparison at the end of the day anyway. The only reason I think the graphics could have been better is because I feel that they had to take it all back a notch for consoles. But again, mods. I'm really excited for the game though and where modding will take it for years to come.
Wow, some of those character anims are exceptionally awful, they stick out like a sore thumb, i wasn't expecting much since it's Beth but that's surprising even by their standards.
Other then that it all looks very neat, can't wait to blow up some airships haha

I'd agree some of the animations and facial textures look poor albeit certainly improvements over previous games. Overall, the game looks like it'll be a blast.
Personally I think the game looks just fine. And for as much as people speak of Witcher 3's amazing visuals, the fact is they were downgraded significantly before release. Looks like a generation behind previews they showed during its development... and yet it still is a damned good game, arguably GOTY 2015.
So people who are quick to pounce on FO4 (without playing it, no less) for its 'bad graphics' need to remember that great graphics don't always make a great game. It could be the most EXTREME HD GRAFIX EVAR, but if Fallout 4 wasn't fun to play, had terrible controls, etc... what difference would it make?
SW: Battlefront is jaw-droppingly gorgeous with realistic lighting, beautiful models, out-of-this-world texturing and superb motion-captured animations... and yet the vast majority of people I know who beta-tested it were bored after a couple of hours. Myself included.

I agree Tes. Gameplay > Graphics. And the gameplay for 4 looks outstanding. The gunplay in particular. With the rest of the game looking flawless, I guess that just makes it easier for people to nitpick. Coincidentally, I just saw this vid about witcher 3 graphics at e3.

@TheHermit You have a great point! I did not think of that angle.
@gabet347 You also have a good point, they teamed up the NCR to take down the more advanced Enclave and then went to war with the NCR when they started using the Enclaves technology.
I also think that comparing either Fallout or Skyrim to Witcher 3 is all well and good, but how much replay value does the Witcher 3 really have, especially for role players? And especially when some have declared (!) that Witcher 3 is the best RPG of all time. I haven't played the game yet, but I can see that it's good an rich and full of things to do as with any Skyrim/Fallout game, but does it stand the test of time like Fallout? The short answer is definitely not, in my opinion. I don't find the Witcher series to be quite a memorable as the TES or Fallout series. The TES/Fallout lore is engraved into our memory after playing, but I don't find I have that kind of relationship with Witcher. Although I find it's lore very interesting, it tends to be overly-convoluted and stilted in some ways. I've heard no other complaints about Fallout 4 other than the graphics, and they aren't even '2011' graphics either. The PS3/Xbox 360 certainly couldn't have run such an engine. It does indeed look next-gen to me. I think people just need their eyes testing sometimes and be fair in judgement.
