Okay, I know this is a dumb question for PC Veterans, but I grew up with consoles. When I would play games, the only way to get more out of the game was cheat codes (Very rare now-a-days) or glitching and exploiting the game. Back in the day, my buddy Kyle got me into "Call of Duty Zombies", and "Fallout". We both loved these games early in the PlayStation3 days, but after a while they lost their spark. Until one day he told me to come over to his house, to show me something new on Zombies. A 3 Gun glitch.
Now, it doesn't seem like a big deal, but this was before the perk "Mule Kick" was even thought up. This was World at War Zombies. This was the first glitch I ever learned. In Fallout 3, he showed me how to keep all my weapons from Anchorage using the Gary glitch in the Pods. In New Vegas, I showed him the casino caps glitch to get a million in an hour.
Coming back to before I had this PC, The last glitch I did was the Dogmeat duplication glitch for Fallout 4. But now that i have this PC and Fallout on it, I've gone mad with power! I had to start a whole new play-through because I cheated so hard! Maxing out my level, my S.P.E.C.I.A.L, deleting essential characters, I couldn't stop myself! I'm in a recovery process where I only gave myself an awesome black re-texture of Elder Maxon's coat and that's it. (I can't post a link yet, so just copy and paste this in the nexus search bar: Black Maxsons Battlecoat with all black under armor )
So my question to the GUNetwork is, do you cheat, or play by the rules? There's a poll, and leave a reply if you like, I'm curious about anyone else's stories on the matter!

I think its safe to say that most people do what you did upon discovering the majesty of PC and the holy grail known as the 'console command.' (Say it outloud and you'll hear faint gregorian chants.)
I certainly did. Enjoy it, don't stop yourself, and eventually you'll be playing normally again.

Ehh I went for Option 3. If it's a bug that's deleted something out of my inventory, or I'm stuck on some terrain, I'll use console commands to get out of it.

Yes, i did, but only in some case of bugs or some unfair crash.
Mainly i prefer to play games WITHOUT cheating. Because, every game is a challenge for me, and i prefer to play it fair to the end.

Yes, I cheat, only if I lose my favorite items due to bugs.

When I'm actually going for a legit playthrough, I don't, and I use balanced, lore-friendly mods. Unless I get stuck on world objects, then I use tcl, which happens quite often since I have a habit of trying to jump-spam and cram myself into the weirdest places.
Then on the other hand I sometimes like to install a bunch of funny mods and go on goofing sprees with something ridicilous like spawning an abundance of silly enemies like Thomas the Tank Engine dragons into an arena or generally just obliterating the game world.

I don't cheat because when I play I want to fully enjoy a game without any easiness.

I've used tcl when necessary to get out of a glitched area. Other than that I do occasionally spawn in material shipments when I am building out my settlements and trying new mods..

I usually use the console for debugging purposes or for testing out the capabilities of max stats. I have had to use TGM in a few cases where reloading a quick-save during combat caused the AI to instantly target and kill me.

I most certainly cheat, but usually not to bypass any difficulty (unless I died like thirty times because of the same enemy), but to have fun. In fact, I only played Morrowind with the god mode enabled for the first couple of hours, because otherwise I just couldn't get anything done in that game. I play games for the fun, and if I want something to happen or want to have something I normally can't have, I'll cheat me that shit.
In Skyrim I equipped my character with modded stuff while driving to Helgen, because I was to lazy to go and get it. In Fallout New Vegas I leveled my character up to level 100 (after reaching the vanilla maximum level) because I wanted more perks and was to lazy to install a mod for it. In Fallout 3 I leveled my character up to level 87 for the same reason. Everytime I encounter a bug, or a particularly annoying but essential NPC, I use the console. Then there's games that have cheats just for shits n giggles, like GTA and Saints Row. In GTA San Andreas and IV, I always got myself weapons and something to fly (OHYEAH = Helicopter in SA). In Saints Row the Third, the command "brains" turns all citizens into zombies. Cheats are fun.

I don't cheat to a point where it's pointless playing, e.g. god mode (unless im messing around, id never save my game after using god mode), or infinite caps, becasue it loses its worth IMO.
But yeah I'll maybe occasionally unlock a door with console commands i'f my lockpick skill is too low.
...ONCE I USED THE DUPLICATE GLITCH ON THE XBOX 360 TO GET 1000'S OF BOTTLES OF SKOOMA ON OBLIVION OKAY?
THERE I SAID IT

Now that I think about it, I never actually encountered a glitch that I could use to my advantage. The only glitch that was good for me was a physics-engine glitch in GTA IV. For context, you can pick stuff up in GTA IV and throw it. Coffee cups, bricks, bottles, etc.
So one time I picked up a coffee cup and threw it at a cop. The cop went flying and knocked over a lantern. That lantern fell on another cop. Both cops died and I got zero stars. It was fun.

Option 2 for me....I only cheat when i need something like a few crafting items.....or when stuff gets too hard or impossible to beat.

Since playing Fallout 4 i have acquired an ocd for having dozens of shipments of various materials ready at my disposal and having enough caps to buy every single ammuntion type from the traders i come across. Its expensive as heck so i simply add some caps and materials now and then

I previously played without console commands, when I did not know about cheats and about mode,
Yes, I console commands when bugs are mainly used to repair weapons armor, and for screens, in Geck ,on weapons by Milenia i replaced sound of gunfire, replaced grid on optics, and i play at your pleasure, console commands except Fallout,i nowhere not used.

If using mods, saving/loading alot and watching walkthrough videos are not count as cheating, I am straight like an arrow

Well like a lot of people the console command are mainly used for correcting a bug (the compound medic in fallout 4 for example) on my first playthrough. On my second I like to experiment a little (max lvl, max difficulty or just adding a LOT of caps to just buy everything of a merchant)
