I'm writing because it feels slightly obligatory. With that out of the way I am here for mods and things that have to do with mods, I would imagine that's what most people are here for. I highly doubt I will have any participation in the VGU community. I guess I'll introduce myself in the last sentence to get my point across that it doesn't matter much. After reading your blunt and even affronting introduction, I've decided to post an honest response in the hope that I may inspire some change to your attitude. I certainly hope that you'll change your disposition of our community. Acquiring the mods requires trust of the community, and your disconcerting introduction does nothing but cast doubts as to your credibility. Unfortunately the lack of time you've spent to learning how to be eligible for promotion has put you at a significant disadvantage from ascertaining your goals. Indeed it's probably obvious that most of us came in the mutual interest of enhancing our gameplay, but you should also be aware that those of us who enjoy the access to the mods are now also here for the community. Despite the doubt this thread will undoubtedly cast on your character, I hope that by heeding this call for change that you will be a productive and fine addition to our community.

I'm sorry Noah, but I'm siding with @DVAted and Yoshi here, This isn't a mod site it's a forum, granted it does have mods that can't be found on the nexus, however, it is not a mod site and as Yoshi said only people who have earned the trust of the community can gain that privilege, and you sir have made a poor start. The sites primary purpose is for gamers to come together and socialise, hopefully like some people who have joined in the past you'll realise just how good it will be to be part of the community, but as said, this is a very poor way to begin.

I'm gonna mirror what these guys said, this isn't a download hub, its a community based on friendship and trust, the mods are just a small bonus in the grand scheme of things.

An attitude like yours practically grantees you will never earn the trust needed to access the mods, this is a very bad start in earning that trust.

That said, we're big on forgiveness here, so if you take a look around the site and see for yourself what a wonderful and helpful community this is and decide that you want to be a part of that, not for the mods but for the friendship and sense of community, then i and i'm sure othors will be ready to welcome you to the community properly.

I am in complete agreement with what everyone just said. If you want mods, then be a part of this great community. I really hope you turn into a active member, this is a great community to be a part of. I will be honest and say that I was at first scared of being a part of ANY community, but VGU has welcomed me as a person. This is an awesome network of awesome people which I have no doubt they will welcome you if you participate. If you look at my join date and the date of my first post (which was intro), then you will notice at least a couple months difference. It wasn't because i didn't want to be a part of a community but rather I was afraid. Enough of my rambling though. I hope you give VGU a chance and be active.

I'll admit, when I was signing up, I was just thinking about mods. But when I actually started talking to these people, I found out they are pretty nice, and I was glad to be in a community with them. It's worth it to be active here.

While we do have a few mods, we aren't a download hub, this is a community of gamers and modders alike.

If you would like access to the mods here then you have to show that you're a trustworthy person who is willing to participate in the community. While I find your honesty and "to the point" attitude commendable, it really isn't a good start towards gaining access to any mods here.

I sincerely hope that you choose to stay for the community as you seem like a decent person.

So, rather than write this off, i'll pitch in and hope that you decide to have an interest in the community, rather than pretending to for teh modz.

Well, points for honesty I suppose. But you lose points for... well, the rest of the post.

If you want mods you can't find on Nexus, a bit of googling will find you a few links on youtube vids, or on deviantart. That's probably as far as you'll get.

Here's the thing. These mods are the work of a lot of people. Not just the people that port and rig them, but the people that made the original games, too. Bioware put a lot of work into those Mass Effect models, and 343 put a lot of work on the Halo 4 ones, and so on and so on. If they were just put out for everyone, that's not showing respect to the work that the original developers put in. You can go a step further and argue that even porting them to another game isn't showing the original developers respect, but I won't. I doubt the people that modelled and textured everything care that much. They're gamers too, they'd probably love a giant mish mash of stuff from various games all thrown into one RPG. It's publishers and copyright lawyers that get angry about it.

If just anyone can download Dragbody's Massive Armor Pack, toss it in their game and then complain that the models aren't showing up because they only downloaded the ESP and not the assets and start complaining and insulting Dragbody because they're a moron who can't read readmes or follow directions, well, that's not showing respect to Dragbody or the original creators.

This place isn't about posting just enough times to get download access and then never saying another word. It's about being respectful, about being friendly, and about having a good time. These folks don't think they're better than the Nexus because "ohhhh we have the awesome stuff from Star Wars and Mass Effect and Halo and Call of Duty in our mods." They just want to ensure that the mods are being used by people that'd appreciate them and enjoy them, and by people that won't steal the work and claim it as their own. If you can't accept that, well...

You could always learn to port them yourself. No one here's under any obligation to give you the stuff you want.

I'm hoping he can change but I don't think his goals will or at least our first impression of him will, so I guess I don't like the idea of there being a leecher in our midst.

I think Duke was using Dragbodys awesome mod packs as an example.

I don't think something happened that actually had something to do with Drag.

Accelerator's right, I was just using Drag as an example. I'm sure he would be pissed if someone stole his giant armor pack and uploaded it elsewhere to claim credit, though. It's why there's a vetting process.

Firstly I'm sorry if I have insulted anyone in the community with my post. Secondly I was not aware of the VGU community's attitude towards people like me, never spent much time here. Thirdly after reading the responses which I never really expected to get, I'll try to be active in the community, but I can't be very active in the community, due to the simple fact that I have to split my time up with all sorts of other things. I do not want to be a burden to this community, that's not a good way of going about things.

I was the same as you when I came here. To be honest, I first set out to just get my hands on the mods that are here, though I've come to really change my views and like @DVAted said, the mods are just a bonus. I've come to know the community quite well, and I am glad that my views have changed about this site, and it's members. I hope you also experience the changes that I have gone through, in hope to see you flourish here. May have been a rough start, but it's not too late. Hope to see you around.

I still think you have a chance but with that very blunt introduction it probably will make it harder for you to gain the trust of some members, but that should only encourage you to make things better between you and the community.
