| I played FO3 countless times and in every playthrough I felt best in Point Lookout. It has that special flair, can't desribe it but I love it.
I have all DLCs for FO 3 but i really HATE Mothership Zeta!!
In Fallout New Vegas I loved to play Honest hearts, Dead Money ruined my nerves... |

| When we are speaking of the vanilla games, i think personally that New Vegas has the best individual expansion, but overall Fallout 3 has better offering.
There's 3 things that i care about in a dlc. Those are: -World space (areas added by expansion) -Story -Loot and gear
I feel only Lonesome Road nails all 3, at least vanilla that is. Every other expansion is lacking on one area and i would mod them rather than just playing them as they are. With mods i'd say that New Vegas takes it, but i feel that kinda misses the point of the thread. |

Old world blues and Lonesome road are probably the best two, they add so many things to the game and the story is great. Now i'm not saying FO3 dlcs suck, i just think they are too short and they have less new items. Also they're not very-well written, but i find 'em ok.
Fallout 3 Pitt had better items, take a look at some of the Weapons and Armor, they we so much better than Lonesome Road, what do you think about the Pitt? The pitt was alright, had good weapons and the ashur power armor (my fav power armor in fo3), but didn't have a cool story like lonesome road. _________________ |

| Reading through this thread made me remember how I played Operation Ancorage. I started out as a character with very good karma. After arriving in the american camp for the first time, I accidentally shot someone in the face, because my mouse was kind of broken. After that I just decided to roll with it, and killed every friendly person (except for most of my squad) I saw. The problem with that was that I couldn't get any weapons or ammo; the quartermaster was dead/angry (can't remember if he was essential or not). So I literally played through the whole Simulation fist-fighting everyone, and throwing the occasional grenades I found. It was awesome, except for the boss at the end. I had to give myself a weapon to beat him after running in circles for about 30 minutes. When I left the bunker (after killing everyone inside) my karma was the lowest of low. Fun times.
I think one of the reasons why I like the Fallout 3 DLCs the most is because I played them first. It's the same with the Metal Gear Series: I think the third Solid game is the best one (I haven't played 4 or 5 yet), but I'll always like the first game the most. |

| Ive played the Pitt, Mothership Zeta, Anchorage, and finished Broken Steel but have yet to play Point Lookout. Im working my way towards it now.
Ive played Old World Blues, and Dead Money but havent finished Honest Hearts or started Lonesome Road yet. I get caught up in mod content way to much.
Im about to hit up the dlc's in the next couple days but so far I feel from what I played Fallout 3 has a slight edge but it may change when I finish this last content. _________________ Shonabish!

| i saw a few weeks ago that people were curious as to what new DLC would come out for fallout 4, since Bethesda already confirmed that there WOULD be at least one DLC coming out. i was curious though in terms of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas which one did you think had better DLC?
In my personal opinion, i definitely think Fallout: New Vegas had better DLC. The story inside the F:NV DLC just felt more complete than the FO3 DLC. I mean Point Lookout felt sooo incomplete, as did The Pitt. Mothership Zeta was fun at first but now i intensely dislike it.
That being said. Dead money was a bitch and a half to complete and i ashamedly admit i had to turn on god mode just to complete my first playthrough Lonesome road was wonderful. But Ulysses felt so pretentious, i've played the Lonesome road DLC at least a dozen times and i still don't understand why Ulysses did what he did.
But that's probably just me :')
EDIT:
merged your topic to this pre-existing one

| I think Fallout 3 dlc added new strange lands to explore with indepth story to accompany them giving players the ability to witness a differing array landscapes. The only dlc that did that was the Dead Money dlc in FNV. However gun runners did give a fresh look into existing gameplay, overall I liked the way Fallout 3 dlc expanded the lore and gameplay more than FNV but the FNV was well done in itself. _________________ story of my life |

| Funny since I prefer NV to 3, but for DLC it has to be Fallout 3 all the way. Point Lookout, The Pitt and the addition of endless gameplay with Broken Steel make it a no-brainer on which ones to choose. Naturally the big quest of Old World Blues was fun, but there really is a ton more to do in the FO3 ones than NV.
I'd use TTW so I get it all in one go, but that never worked for me, so I take what I can get! _________________ |

| New Vegas DLC FTW! Old World Blues > Mothership Zeta, Lonesome Road > The Pitt, Honest Hearts > Broken Steel ( obviously ) , the content and the story and the rpg style is better IMO |

| New Vegas Dlc. Fo3 dlc is all right has some ok quests and good loot also it lets you continue after the main quest. FNV dlc all connects together seamlessly. Plus you had memorable characters and better rewards in New Vegas dlc than you did in Fo3. |

| New Vegas wins that one for me. FO3's dlc felt like it was either hit or miss. Anchorage, Steel and Point Lookout I felt were really good, while The Pitt and Mothership were just awful. I loved all the dlc for New Vegas. I'd say Honest Hearts was not that good, but I still prefer it over FO3's Pitt or Mothership. _________________ "they asked me how well I understood theoretical physics. | For me, both games have great dlcs and bad dlcs. Broken Steel and Point Lookout are good, but Mothership and Anchorage are bad. Same for New Vegas, i liked Honest Hearts and Lonesome Road, but I hated playing Dead Money or Old World Blues.
For me I think New Vegas dlcs are better, because they really add to the story, especially HH and LR. But, I really think that every dlcs, wether it's the 3's or New Vegas's, could have been way better. Now, when I look at the Frontier, I see what could have been a real good official dlc. Now I'm just waiting for it to come out because I think it will crush every dlcs in terms of quality (and those guys do it for free). |

| Definitely FO3 DLC. The Pitt was amazing. It was short, but the whole theme of it was amazing. Point Lookout was great too, but there wasn't really any new weapons other than the lever action rifle. I actually liked Anchorage. Even though it was all just a simulation and nothing really mattered, it was still a fun thing to have. I only wish you could play it again. Mothership Zeta was "meh" to me. My characters never really go high in science or energy weapons so it wasn't the greatest. I still had tons of fun there though. As for Broken Steel, I never actually finished it so I can't really give anything on it.
New Vegas DLC was crap in my opinion. It had potential(like the main game), but they really screwed up(like the main game). My favorite DLC was Dead Money. I know that is probably the most hated DLC and I know why. I just really loved the theme of it. You were stripped of all weapons and gear and thrown into a creepy town full of zombie-like people. You had to sneak around and scavenge. The only things I hated about it were that damn collar(I have to have mods to get rid of it. Completely kills the fun and is more annoying than challenging) and the fact that you do almost no fighting after the villa. The casino and the holograms were really boring and annoying. The theme was great and the characters were amazing, but it still could have been better. Honest Hearts was interesting, but it was just fetch quests and getting trying to find a way up to that ledge. Joshua was great, but he really had too small of a part. The weapons HH brought in were good(I really hated that the .45 pistol uses the pathetic 9mm sound), but the ammo was so hard to stockpile so I never used it. The .45 weapons were powerful, but the rare ammo made them almost useless in the main world. I went through the DLC story and saved all the .45 ammo I could and it really wasn't much. If they added those guns to the leveled list then it would be a different story. Old World Blues was bad for me. Like I said above, my characters don't really have high science or energy weapons and OWB is pretty much all science and energy weapons. I had a difficult time there because my two lowest skills were the most prominent ones there. The whole DLC catered to it. Yes there was machine gun they give you, but ammo for it was scarce(especially if you upgraded it to .44). Lonesome Road was horrible. The story was confusing as hell and all the random stopping to talk about something I don't even know about really killed it for me. LL was very linear. I felt no desire or need to explore. I actually had to look up the plot because the narrative wasn't very informative and honestly the plot was utter garbage.
Basically Ulysses blamed you, a random courier, for delivering a package(which was your job) and not knowing it was a bomb. He then sets out on this long journey to set up a death trap for you and kill hundreds of people just because you delivered a package. I see no logic in this. I really don't see why he is praised as an interesting character. He basically hates the messenger more than the one who ordered it and solely blames you for The Divide. I hate how all the DLC built up to LL and it was going to be amazing, but then it is just utter crap. Ulysses was a horrible character. He hated the Legion, but still liked them. He hated you for unknowingly delivering a bomb and blamed you alone for it. He becomes obsessed with you and getting revenge for something you really weren't even responsible for.
Overall, FO3 DLC far surpassed NV DLC. |
