Welcome to the forums. Some advice on screenshots, you say?
Console commands are your friend. There's a ton of them that are tailor-made for awesome screenshotting, here are some examples:
TFC/TFC 1 - the Toggle Free Camera commands allow you to separate the camera from your character and fly it around using the WASD keys. TFC leaves the game running in real time, TFC 1 pauses the game but still allows you to move the camera around. This lets you create some epic mid-explosion/gunfire-type screenshots, such as this one of Reddin getting caught in an explosion caused by the Super Mutant Behemoth attack.
SGTM - If you'd rather slow the game down than pause it outright, use the SGTM command. SGTM 1 is the default, where as SGTM 0.5 is 50% speed. SGTM 2 is 2x (twice) the normal gameplay speed, etc etc. Note that using VATS automatically resets any changes you make.
TM - a simple command that disables all elements of the UI. This allows you to take screenshots without obnoxious health bars, text, journal stuff, etc.
FOV - setting the FOV lower creates a much more dramatic, lifelike camera for up-close screenshots, for example this one: it was created with FOV 28.
A low FOV isn't practical for gameplay though (aside from sniping) so you'll want to reset it back to the default (75) when you're done with your screenshots.
Hope this helps, and we look forward to your screenshots - post them in the
Fallout Screenshots topic when you've got some you'd like to share.
