PostSubject: Re: Need help with SSD   Need help with SSD EmptySat Jul 11, 2015 11:07 pm

It ain't sat up with ntfs yet, and default windows settings are set to hide empty drives.

You gotta do this::

Go to the windows start meny, right click on "my computer" click on "manage".

A new window will pop up, its called "computer management", in the menu there, below storage, you will see "disk management".

Click in there, you will probably find your 2nd ssd drive there, and it will probably show as a unallocated.

Right click on it, then choose new drive, or format or whatever it says;)

Hope this helps.

No, doesn't look like your SSD is detected. Check this link for some helpful info:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/install-remove-hard-disk-drive#1TC=windows-7

Also are you sure you've plugged it in correctly?

Yes, that is the initialization of the new disk, just set it as MBR, that's pretty much the good old standard, alteast for as-long as you don't go over to TB sized disks.

That IS the detection ;)

Very often, the first Sata port is named 0. Therefore it's very likely that your 1st SSD is disk 0.

And then, the second Sata port is named 1, therefore your second disk will often be named disk 1.

And also, if you doubt my advice, you can check this link I'l post here, its a guy with the same problem as you, (only he got a hdd, not an ssd, but its the same principle.) And the people answering him gives about the same answer as I did Smile

Link to Tom's Hardware thread about initalizing new disk.

What are you talking about? :p Its right there..

Disk 1, 111,79gb unallocated space. You gotta right click "format" or "new drive" on it for it to show up on my computer.

Remember, disk's are always a bit smaller than what they say on the package. If you were to buy a 1tb hdd, you would actually get a hdd with 931 gb. That's just the way it is:)

Nah it didn't. If you see on your own picture, disk 0 ( your 1st disk) it got the exact same amount of space as your second.

Il just quote the explanation here ;)

tweakandtrick.com wrote:

A manufacturer considers 1 Megabyte to be 1000 Kilobytes, 1 Gigabyte to be 1000 Megabytes, 1 Terabyte to be 1000 Gigabytes and so on. This is correct considering that kilo means 1000 and mega means 1000000 (10^6). However, computers calculate on base 2 and to them, 1 MB is actually 1024 kilobytes, 1GB is 1024MB and 1 TB is 1024GB. This difference in the method of computation is responsible for this "missing space."

Ahh, apologies, I thought he was just clicking his C drive when he posted his first picture, didn't pay attention to disk 1 and disk 0 (that was almost cut off at the bottom), sorry for the misinformation. Glad to see it's sorted now.
