| So the only way i know to extract BSAs is FOMM... but recently it crashes upon launch of the program. Ive reinstalled it multiple times. I even tried the FO3 Version with no luck. So what are some other ways to extract BSAs?
thank you |

| You could try this.
http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/4804/?
I've never tried it before, but it's the only one besides FOMM I know. _________________ |

| What files do you need? I have the unpacker that mpaz linked to, and it works perfectly for me. If you can't get it to work, I'll see if I can grab the files you need and share them with you. Keep in mind, you may get an "unknown .bsa version" warning using the unpacker...it's fine. Your best bet is to start unpacking the .bsa, walk away for a few minutes and let it run. If you try to close the unpacker before it finishes, it will crash. The larger the .bsa is, the longer it will take and the more likely it may crash...it's better to only extract the folders you really need...maybe only one at a time. Let me know if I can help you out with grabbing stuff for you N~dles _________________ “Ignorance is curable, stupid is forever.” - Robert A. Heinlein |

| Mod Organizer is also able to unpack BSA as I use it to unpack most of the BSAs from most of the mods in my load order. |

| Hey Gav.... Check yer PMs buddy...mmmm hummm taters So, here's the thing...Wookies' BSA unpacker can't handle files larger than 900 mb, and the texture archives for Fallout & Skyrim are over 1 GB...so how do you work around that? It's actually simpler than you think. You just need Wookies BSA unpacker and BSAopt... I had to brainstrom on this for a bit to figure out how to get around the 'out of memory crash / dump' error that you get using Wookies' program on the bigger BSAs. Basically, you have to reduce the size of the BSA by repacking it with BSAopt, including only the items you want (or smaller than 900 mb in size) and convert it to a new BSA...save it to your desktop. Then run Wookies' extractor on your newly created BSA and pull out the files. Done and done. It's tedious work, but it makes extracting content from BSAs over 900 mb possible. As for MO's BSA extractor? Never used it or MO...it probably has its limitations as well, not sure if it can handle the vanilla games' texture BSAs...if somebody wants to test it out, please let me know. I'd rather not have to switch over from NMM just for a file extractor, but if it works then that might be incentive enough to give it a go. Cheers, N~dles EDIT: If anybody wants or needs a more detailed tutorial on how to do this, I can put one together with screenshots and such...just let me know :0kay: _________________ “Ignorance is curable, stupid is forever.” - Robert A. | DDSopt I know can extract the base game BSAs as can BSAopt as they share the same codebase regarding BSA files. |
