Maybenextime encouraged me to come here. Repeatedly over and over and over.. Glad I did and wish I did it sooner. Cool stuff here. It is ashamed I am busy with other things right now and can't fully take advantage of all the cool downloads VGU offers.
Hopefully that will change soon.

I've moved this topic to the Welcome section since it's like an introduction of sorts
I met VGU somewhere around 2009, barely had a few dozen members. I realized Fallout is modable and I knew, from my experience with GTA SA modding, that models from other games can be converted to it. Maxunit offered us a safe-haven for that and I've been loyal ever since.
@darthvader30640 try not to use capital letters (CAPS LOCK) unless Godzilla actually attacks your town... and mellow out on the !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! as well

I came here for the same reason as mentioned by the first poster. Two buddies of mine, AltoAngelo and RGCaboose introduced me to this site. Well,,, Alto did anyhow. They were my first two known friends here on VGU. And we were here at the time it was FO3Underground before it changed it's name to VGUNetwork. I'm not old, I'm fairly new to the site, been here for more than 3 years, though I remained silent most of the time. I never said a word to anyone on here until I started making more friends around this community.
I see the community here makes really good mods for those noted in the hall of fame, usually those who you would consider paladins on this site. Some of the models are ripped from other games, but I don't give a sh*t. Because I rip models too, though the basic means. I'm not a dragbody myself, but I know at least how to rig models. So I thought when I first registered, I'd learn all the curves on modding more than just Fallout, Oblivion or Skyrim. I wanted to expand my modding battlefield, lol.
I wanted to range from the basic GTA San Andreas modding all the way through Arma 2 or 3, GMod, etc. I hope I have the knowledge and know how to accomplish this one day. Though I know it's not an easy process, but when everything's well explained in video, and if there's enough modding support for the 3D editor I use, it's a helluva lot easier for me then. But this site, I must brutally admit, is more awesome than the Nexus itself.

I remember joining up at F3U around the time the first Borderlands was released, yet I can't remember what really drew me there in the first place. The mods are definitely a big draw-in point but I don't even remember which ones caused me to stumble upon the site.
Now I just stick around to discuss things with Dragbody without any care for the mods provided here, or at the lost VGU.
Come for the mods, stay for the community.

I've been speaking to him on Steam alot. I told him he should apply for veteran or wait to become a colonial. The reason he's been quiet recently, well, I guess that's because I've seen him play Champions Online alot recently. He'll come around, I'm sure. But he, like me can be busy at times. And if he's not playing CO, I don't know what else he's doing.
I'll message him again on what you said, and see if I can get him to hang around with us a bit more than usual.

I originally came to the VGU back when it was the fallout 3 underground for you guessed it mods. I had heard rumors of the places existence on the nexus and was finally told by a member there to do a google search for the VGU. Funny enough after I gained the ability to download mods I didn't for a long time I found the community to be quite useful. I'd periodically poke my head in and out depending on whether or not I was playing NV. So as my Greek girlfriend would say "there you go."

What attracted me to VGU was the armor packs and other mods that aren't available anywhere else. But after that I grew to like being part of a community. Especially when you have people who love fallout. I hope to be able to learn from everyone on here and enjoy the community!

Actually it was way back when f3underground existed and guys over on the Nexus were talking about it...wasn't a member there until they became VGU. Used to be called Preacher over on the old site but since that was taken already over on the new I changed it to Dr. Gonzo! Came for the mods...stayed for the great community of guys/gals!

I came across VGU back when the old site existed after watching one of iKhrill's videos on armor mods. I was registered under the username of "iSurf3R" back then, but decided to change it to "iEastsidezzz" when the new site came up in remembrance of my very first Xbox gamertag I had when I was a youngling.
Mods were cool, but what really impressed me was with the way people communicated with one other; they were all really nice guys/gals. It's a nice change after posting in forums where everyone wants to dissect and destroy your opinion/argument for the appeasement of their own egos.
Polemics are all fine and good, but that sh!zzz gets old after a while.
So its great to kick back, relax, and post for the sake of posting and sharing with others here at VGU. And I'll be here to stay.
