does anyone else feel like fo4 is just going to end up being completely forgettable in the long run, it just seemed like yesterday it came out and now the final dlc is about to be released. how does this community feel about the future impact on any more fallout games fo4 will have will Bethesda or whoever makes the next one learn from their mistakes or will they repeat them?

In a few years if bethesda returns to their roots in terms of storytelling, (ala oblivion) and gets really fun and creative again, then fallout 4 will basically turn into battlefield hardline. Ya know? The Cops and Robbers battlefield? You don't remember that one?

However in the fallout series I don't think it will really go away the same way that hardline did, since its going to be a looong time before fallout 5.

Right now, I see fallout 4 as a platform. I fucking hate the main story and most of the side quests, I hate a lot of decisions bethesda made and wish they didn't make them. However, from a gameplay standpoint, it can hold its own. If you give me some good quests or a motivation in the game, that could easily justify playing it. Things like FROST, or big quest mods like someguy's quests add a lot of playtime, and if people continue to do that, then it probably will stay relevant. However, the mod community for fallout 4 has shrunk, a lot. This website even shows that, with dragbody, capt Rex, and a few other big name people around here staying behind in new vegas (don't blame them). Hitman is obviously not going to be able to bring any of his awesome animations to fallout 4 because of how it uses havok. plus the new dialogue system is a big pain to work with, for a game that highlighted its mod compatibility so much, it really hasn't given modders much to work with. So to review:
-No custom animations
-Poorly implemented dialogue system.
-Possible mod piracy
-limited weapon animations (shitty ones at that)
-voiced protagonist limits lore friendly/immersive quests.
L0rd of war has already left the community along with many others, I don't see fallout 4 lasting long truth be told. What Im really scared about is that we haven't heard anything from someguy2000 for a long while.

I don't think it'll be forgettable, though it does sort of feel that way. Fallout 4 was released just this past November...and all the DLC seems to be have released very quickly once they started on it. Most of it...very small, the Workshops...Automatron's story resides in the Commonwealth.

Far Harbor houses probably the longest run time so far...with maybe Nuka World supposedly to top it.

I think FO4 didn't quite get the love as previous games did in terms of Story(ies) and DLC content...and it all sort of happened really fast.

E3 2015 FO4 Announced. Released in November. Automatron hit in March this year. Wasteland Work Shop landed in April, Far Harbor in May. E3 this year they mentioned the next three DLCs...all of which are going to be launched one month after another...and then that's apparently it. Everything was just very back to back, and abruptly ends.

On one hand it's nice that we get all these goodies to play with so soon, but on the other hand...there's really not a whole lot left to be excited for. All of Fallout 4's hype done with in a year.

I think the biggest and lasting impact FO4 will have is this Mod Uploading platform that was created, a very negative impact that will probably hang over their heads for quite some time, not that they'll lose any sleep over it. I'm sure they had the best intentions, so that console users could make use of mods...but they obviously didn't think it through in terms of protecting the content creators of Mods (in the same vein that Paid Mods were not properly thought through). Especially mods that were created from the ground up, ala L0rd0fWar's armor models being a good example, hours/days went into making those a reality for people to play with and enjoy, only to be taken and re-uploaded elsewhere for whatever reason the thief may of had.

I see FO4 as a big lab with a lot of interesting but completely unfinished things. The comunauty of modders do a lot to fix Beth's mistakes and lacks but there are so much limitations...To begin with, Bethesda will have to change their mind and, if they really care about what all gamers reply, they will have to release additional updates until end of 2017 to bring new material, physics, animations... Bethesda has tools that modders don't have. Further progress will not be possible without them to act and revise their position. Let's see if they will be smart, I don't care if it takes time because playing a Fallout takes time. I am not sure that working on it requires all divisions of the studio, so they can easily continue to on their other projects to grow.We can absolutely say that Fallout4 is a turn in my opinion ( hope that it won't be the wrong one).

No way, I just don't think modding has fully taken off for F4 yet, given time I think we'll start seeing the really great quest mods. One of my favorite mod authors Kris Takahashi (interesting npcs) just released a huge mod for F4 called 'Tales from the Commonwealth' go sus it out on his blog http://3dnpc.com/wiki/fallout-mods/

It seemed to me that Bethesda just planned a bunch of DLCs then give up on the game. Silly

^ yeah it seems that they cranked out all the dlcs within a year of release and are now trying to rid themselves of this game as fast as possible . I think they realize they kinda messed up, they over-hyped this game so much to disappoint so many sure they added some good things but the game itself lacks any depth and direction. modding this game as some said is going to be difficult as far as adding animations and thus far the modding community has shrunk because of Bethesda pandering to the console peasants. i think what happened was they didnt take note of what worked from the past decided to instead create a whole new fallout experience , had so many dreams and ideas but in the end they over extended themselves and those ideas fell flat or were just bad.wether or not the true heros of bethesda games the modders can recover from this remains to be seen and lets be honest in hindsight without mods to fix msitakes and add new things pretty any Bethesda game sucks after your first playthrough. next time whoever makes the next fallout should focus on empowering the pc modding community because in the end they are the ones who sustain the game.
