Hey guys! Just wanted to know whether y'all usually play as a lone wolf or with companions?
I usually prefer the company of multiple companions myself. I'm currently playing an NCR sided playthrough right now and I have a squadron of 4 other NCR soldiers courtesy of Enclave Commander.

I take my caompanion everywhere I am allowed to. x) The only annoying thing that he is mortal in hardcore mode, so I forced to abandon hardcore.

I'm with Allnarta on this one. I can't remember the last time I didn't use a companion.

I take as many companions as I can because use them as pack brahmin and because I want to do their quests. Only problem is in narrow corridors with hidden mines, we all get messed up because someone decides to nudge me.

No companions for me! I'm more of a "lone wolf" type. But I sometimes bring along companions to do their quests!

I always play with companions, something like 1 human and 1 non human. I love when someone is always watching my back, and extra carry weight is also usefull

Depending on the character I will either take companions or none of them like how the character I'm playing for TTW has companions in fallout 3 but when I got to New vegas the character has changed and is mainly alone except for short periods of time where I help companions like helping Cass or going out into the Wasteland killing members of the legion with boone for awhile after helping him.

I usually fly solo but my recent play through I've decided to take my companions with me.

Im really split on this one...

The "lone wolf" feel has it´s own charm while playing with companion´s is also awesome not even mentioning the additional inventory space... :p

I played with companion´s on my recent playthrough though.

I prefer companions all the time, to feel like an old time fallout2.
Beside, I hate a surprised attack.

It depends really.If i use a companion i take only one companion not more but sometimes i play alone but in my most playthroughts im with a Companion even on hardcore.

Hmm i tend to travel with companions a lot but only on a temporary basis, they're never a permanent fixture.

Plus i tend to get them inadvertently killed haha, the wastes are a dangerous place if you have crappy AI.

I realized that while playing solo means less quests and dialogue, I just dont see the Courier/my characters as the companion liking ones.
Vault Dweller, Chosen One, yeah sure, the oldies made me want to have a team, a band of brothers.
But FO3 and FNV I go solo, helps me with immersion and getting into character.
I only bring mod companions and animal companions.

While I do spend a great deal of time going around with companions, I personally like to give my playthroughs (especially on Hardcore mode) a more roleplaying aspect where my character will do his  best to help out the people he meets and if one should fall in combat I have it affect his choices of wanting to have a companion in the future.

Here's a example from my TTW run. In that play-through my character loved Dogmeat who always cheered him up whenever he was down. During a fight with a Enclave patrol, Dogmeat was killed which made my character have a cynical view on the world (And a reason for carrying whiskey wherever he went so that if the memories return he can drink them away.)

Fast forward to New Vegas, when he met the King and heard Rex's plight, my character remembered the loss he experienced with Dogmeat and decided to help Rex in order to prevent the King from experiencing the same pain of loss. Afterwards he did keep Rex around until it proved too much to be a reminder of what he had lost so he returned Rex to the King. Other times my character would help out the other companions but he'd never stay with them for long because he wanted to avoid the same feeling of loss that he felt when Dogmeat was killed.

So to sum up, I personally love companions though due to what events and choices that will affect my character in any play-through I do, will be the determining factor on whether or not I keep them after I do their quests.

Definitely with a companion, to absorb the damage from fights lol, and to have them go forward, while I snipe them away, that is why I'm so fond of Veronica and her gauntlets, lol...

in my current play though i started recruiting all the vanilla companions i had about 3 following as my maximum but theses days i go around the wastes with just one person i was hanging with Boone and Veronica help they differences and with they issues then i did some ca-ravening worth cassidy.
now the only person i hang with is why Willow cause shes my best friend and lover in the game.
She tends to act weird at times but that make my person feel human since he has no moral boundary
but i plan to bring Riddick into the group at some point in the future when our fates cross in the Mojave Wasteland

I go with companions though I limit myself with only 1 or maximum 2. I like Gopher's play style with his companions in his NV playthrough, he leaves them outside guarding a post whenever he goes inside buildings/caves/vaults cause companions mostly get in the way in tight spaces and when things go horrible, he just runs outside where he left them and let them shoot the baddies down . It also minimizes the risk of getting em killed

Yeah, ummm... I just don't use companions period. Unless you count Ed-E as one, cause I don't. I DID get Veronica a dress though. She was very happy. also,

Solo only. I can't stand companions because their behavior is just so weird. I don't like how they follow you around just staring at you, willow and niner are the exception.

I always love having a companion to be honest, I usually take one or two with me in New Vegas.
I've played it through a number of times now but I haven't gone solo once yet, it's nice to have company (Boone is my best bud')
