I'm not familiar with how introductions posts should really go, i have only ever been on one before and i never had to make one.

My name is Kevin a lot of my friends call me KJ thou, I'm from the USA and I have been playing games just about my whole life. I joined here today because i had a few people over at another forum tell me it was a pretty neat place so i figured I'd check it out for myself.

Hope it was a good first post ROFL. I am not very familiar with how these should really go or what they should include.

Yeah, and be polite, if you are and I read it, you get +Rep. If you don't know what that is read the FAQ it basically mean if you get like 10 you can get colonial which allows you to get access to mods.

I don't think getting Reputation points will earn yourself a promotion. To become promoted, you pretty much have to be active in the community, be kind to others, and have a complete understanding of the rules and guidelines around here. But have fun! The community here are pretty cool and the forums are always fun to read and post. So you'll always find something to do here on the site, Kevin. Welcome!

Did you read the FAQ? Rank is decided by a vote between Sentinels, Overseers and Paladins based on making consistent posts and obeying the rules, not by how many reputation points you have.

Oh really, I thought if you had like -1000 rep they would not give you a rank because you're likely a jerk. (I'm exaggerating.) Thanks for telling me this information.

Yeah I know I'm new to VGU and I still don't understand a few of the many things here.

While that is true, that if you're a jerk and get downvoted constantly you won't be getting mod access, it's not a set number of positive reputation you have to earn to get access. At least that's what it's made out to be in the thread about promotions. Who knows, maybe there's some secret between all the higher-ups and that is actually how they do things.

When do most people usually try and get promoted? I'm just asking because you know a lot and I want to write this advice.

I wasn't really trying hard to get mod access but I tried to join when I became a member of the established group but it took awhile after that for me to get mod access and join the Colonial group. My messages I put on the community were never just to add to a quota and they always had a point to them like providing good feedback plus I started to make friends. I suggest not to use the site for trying to get mods but to be a part of the community and in time you will become a member with mod access.

Also posting messages like how to get mod access and getting promoted can make it even harder so I advise read up on the page DVated put up and be patient it may take a while but you will get access in the end.
