| Hey guys, i'm new to this community, but not new to the modding scene. I've heard a lot about this site; both good things and bad things, and thought I'd finally give you guys a shot.
I'm primarily posting here so that you guys might be able to help me out in regards to your etiquette, and rules in regards to finding some of your more elusive mods which I'm quite keen to get my teeth sunk into (primarily for fallout).
So yeah, whats the deal with accumulating enough points to start downloading, is it frowned upon to directly ask for a link? How active do i have to be to be 'part of the community' so to speak?
Any light you guys might be able to shed for me would be great. |

| Welcome to the community, man. To get access to the mods, you don't accumulate points, you just have to be put into one of the special access member groups. There's several ways of doing this, @sirvm linked to the post that explains all of it. To be allowed access to the mods, you simply have to become a valued part of the community whether it be helping the site or just being a part of it. The simplest way, I'd think, would be to just post. Make friends and help others out, just be a good guy and a part of the community, and you'll eventually gain access to the mods. And yes, it is very frowned upon to ask for links to the special access mods. that would defeat the purpose of making them special access. |

| Basically exactly what zeephillayy said. Just post, communicate, and get to know the modders and community. They want this to be a helpful tight-nit community, so be friendly, helpful, and be mindful of the rules and guidelines and you will get access with some time and patients. |

| You've got the same false "secret society" picture of it as I did back when I registered here. I've only been a member for a few months myself. Nah, you really just have to be yourself, when people get to know you, you become a part of the community both naturally and literally, you get promoted to Colonial. Then all the options open up on this site here, under "Modding". It's not a challenge either, I basically got to know everyone and took part in conversations and my promotion completely surprised me. The attitude people have here is like from a small town, everyone knows each other and they're very friendly and hospitable. As for the Reputation points, they aren't related to or required for a promotion. They're just a formal sign of respect you can show to someone who's posts, screenshots, mods or anything they shared with you that you enjoyed. So, welcome to the community and I hope you enjoy your stay here I've been using mods for the past 3 years too, so if you want I can be your personal magic lamp when it comes to them. Just give me some criteria for what you're looking for and I'll dispense you suggestions. You can also check out the Public releases here, they're top-notch stuff. _________________ A secret message to the chosen ones:- Spoiler:

| Hey man Welcome to VGU ! At first you should read this here, the Rules&Guideliness. They are maybe a little hard to understand (I had to read them serval times till I figured out how things work here) so read them carefully and if you still have questions I am sure one of the Admins will explain it http://vgunetwork.forumotion.net/t622-rules-guidelines There is also a public mod section wich anybody can acces. There is some very good stuff you might want to chek out. http://vgunetwork.forumotion.net/f44-fallout-public-releases |

| There is no "enough points" to start downloading. You don't get automatically promoted for a certain amount of posts/reputations, you get promoted by acting like a normal human being, communicate, not being a dick, follow the rules, stay active. If people in the staff team recognized you as qualified for a nomination, you'll be nominated to be in consideration for promotion. After you've proven to us (the VGU community in general), that you are to be trusted, you'll be promoted, and have access.
However, we look more forward to seeing you stay active and stay for the community, and not just the mods themselves. I'd also suggest that you check our FAQ section, which, also, answer your question. Hope this solves your question.
Have a good day, and also, welcome. |

Any light you guys might be able to shed for me would be great. I can identify with newcomers, being one of them myself. I've not been promoted as of yet, but I guess one of the better ways to get promoted is to not directly try. What you might consider doing is getting involved in the discussions or, like I do, spark your own discussions. Pitching into the other discussions can yield some interesting, hilarious, and informative responses, and building up some pretty good relationships with the fellow forum members and moderators can also be a good start. When I introduced myself about three weeks ago, I got some very friendly responses, so these are some good folk, not a bunch of dirty perverts or rock-dwelling losers. Take my advice, and it might see us both rising to prominence. |

| Hey thanks for the replies! Sorry for getting back here a bit late, I made this post before I went to sleep, had uni in the morning, and only just got back.
I'll check out the links you guys have provided me, and guess I'll start with making my profile 'my own' so to speak. Might post a screenshot or two of my modded games as well. Looking forward to getting to know you all a little better! |

| Welcome to the community Only sort of thing i can really say about getting access to the mods is to be patient. Try to enjoy being a part of the community more than wanting to get the mods and you can have fun whilst waiting for access! |
