| I'm a shallow shallow man when it comes to the look of my character. I'll happly sacrafice a couple points if it looks awesome. It also depends on the look im going for for my character, am i going for a soldier look, a steathy merc, a gun for hire or the classic cowboy or a combanation of something.
for weapons I always try to use the most powerfull weapons i can get but not at the expense of the looks. i would use the geck to buff the weapons i like but most of the time i can handle anything in front of me so it's not really worth it. _________________ "Buring people! | I prefer vanity with my characters- to a degree. Fallout is usually a pretty easy game, but if the super cool armor is about as protective as a paper bag, its still gonna screw me. |

| You guys are a bunch of stupid fashionistas! Git gud scrubs, pick up a real gun! Looking cool can easily be done with a badass watergun that really sprays lava at all those people you're wiping the ground with! It won't even matter if that shit's some fruity ass hot pink with hello kitty plastered all over it, damn hello kitty is a swag ass mothafucka when she's covered in the blood, ashes, spit, tears and guts of her terribly mutilated and scorched prey!
Sorry. But nah, looking cool is probably the only thing I ever really worry about. _________________ I'll put something creative here later.

| Usefulness, the gun can look like a damn shrimp for all i care. If it delivers the damage and accuracy then the weapon can look like whatever it wants to be. |

| Theres nothing like a cool looking gun to get your head in the game, however if you dont want to lose your head, then maybe it's best to choose power. I tend to keep a variety of guns in game, so I can have both! _________________ Pre Vizsla: This lightsaber was stolen from the Jedi Temple by my ancestors during the fall of the Old Republic. | Originally I cared more about usefulness over vanity. However since modding my fallout game, vanity has been more important. With all the great armor and weapon mods available, looking great has been something I desire. |

Pretty much this. In base game, its definitely usefullnes. but with modding ,just about anything can be altered to be useful, making the looks more fun to build around. |

| I'm a full-on utility guy. For me, specifically talking about guns, their design has to be based on the purpose of improving the performance of the gun itself and thus, actually helps the wielder. Just like the bullpup design that I really like for its compact size, but I find scorned by most people cos they think it's ugly. In a real battlefield, you'd wanna move comfortably; and the bullpup design accomodates that.
Guns are basically tools and also many other things. So, if they're only pretty but unreliable, why bother? |

| I go for style all the way. Even in multiplayer games I pick what I like the most, not what's the most powerful (I see many of my friends often changing between classes or characters to what is "in-meta" at the time). It's not all vanity though, it's more like I pick something I like and learn to master it. Like a signature, my bravura, in a way.
In Fallout that's not as easy though since the guns have stats, but luckily many of the more powerful guns tend to be sexier, and I'm using a increased damage mod so the difference isn't as ridiculous. _________________ A secret message to the chosen ones:- Spoiler:

| For armor, vanity. For weapons, usefulness. Unique/interesting weapons that are underpowered make me sad, like the chinese pistol with fire damage in Fallout 3. A peashooter that could maybe be helpful for low level characters, hidden in a safe in a building at the heart of DC. Ah well. I spent some fun times setting brahmin on fire at night (it was totally humane, the thing didn't do enough damage to kill them) |

| Definitely Vanity. Even when i have a ton of 44 ammo in my pocket i use it to make 45s for kick-ass looking 45Autopistol. I see some guns as signature weapons for my characters, usually handguns or rifles, and i never replace them |

| Nowadays, I agree it's just about how epic and great a gun looks, I myself would use anything that looks sweet, after all when patrolling the wastes, you gotta be set to look like a badass. |

| I go for vanity usually, with everything but my rifle of choice. That usually looks cool as well...but there are some very ugly rifles with incredible stats. Luckily the modding community has created some very cool weapons with very good stats. |

| I chose vanity too although I mostly do a simple compromise: I always went with that improved gecko leather armour for both my male and female characters. They look decent (not super great) but they are light weight and have a decent DT rating.
As for guns it is pretty much the same; I won't chose fugly guns just because they are super good and likewise won't choose nice looking guns which don't do anything ^^ |
