Subject: Hello! My introduction Fri Jul 04, 2014 2:55 pm
I'm Tesvixen/MystressB, and I'm a modder of several games including Fallout 3. I was encouraged by Cire992 and xxShepardxx to join/become active on this site upon showing them things which I've modded.
This little hobby (obsession) started back in the Morrowind days, when my ex-husband worked on a huge mod for that game (Alien vs Predator). It annoyed me intensely how much time he spent on it, but when I saw the end result and how much it changed the game, I was much more appreciative.
So years later when Oblivion was released, I dabbled my toes in the pool of modding. I did a basic armor/dungeon mod with Mystykstar, and then I saw the kaleen mod by Nouserhere. I love draenei in World of Warcraft (second only to gnomes) so I downloaded it, but it wasn't as 'draenei-like' as I had hoped. And so I decided to build a draenei mod of my own, that ended up adding draenei/eredar races along with a ton of WoW weapons and armor modified for their hoof feet. It wound up becoming a huge project, mostly because I made an effort to integrate the races into the world, instead of just saying 'hey now you can make a purple chick with horns'.
Around the time I was wrapping up the draenei mod, I picked up a little game called Fallout 3. 4 years later I'm still enjoying it (I'm in the minority that prefers FO3 to NV) and modding it almost daily.
My first project was a Metroid mod that added Samus' gunship, a playable Samus race (xxShepardxx did her head mesh for me) and practically every weapon and powersuit that Samus has used in the series. It was a fun, fun project (I love Metroid and have for over 20 years) but I quickly ran into walls - it was just too difficult to get sounds from the games, and the meshes were often too low-quality to look good in Fallout. So my interest in the project began to wane.
Last year I picked up Mass Effect 2 on a whim (Steam sales ftw) and it served as my introduction to the series. Within an hour, I was in love with the game - and that only increased the more I played. With each companion, loyalty quest and decision, I became more and more hooked on the series. Upon beating it I rushed out and bought ME1, promptly played through it and then imported that save into ME2 which I happily played through again. Then I moved on to ME3, which I have yet to beat (because I refuse to subject myself to the miserable failure (IMO) of its endings).
Mass Effect has since become the subject of my latest mod. But that's a wall of text for another time (e.g. when I can create topics in the modding sections).
Thanks for reading!

Hey tesvixen! It seems that our tastes in video games are very similar. I too bought ME2 first and had to go back to ME1. I also share your distaste for the miserable ending.
I'm thrilled to see a modder around, and I hope that'll make a wonderful addition to this community!
Hey Tesvixen, good to see an enthusiastic modder! I hope you enjoy VGU and I am anxious to see what kind of mods you have planned! And happy fourth of July!

Welcome Tesvixen! I too love Metroid, and I hope that one day we can put that mod into a reality. It would be amazing to have the Lone Wanderer using power suits and fighting Metroids.

I actually have a question, where would be the best area for me to make a topic/post about my mods? I notice that some mods have their own topics and others are sort of lumped into general 'modding' threads, so I'm unsure what the rule/expectation is there.

I'm thinking it would be best if you put your stuff into the large WIP Mod Thread, but an individual topic couldn't hurt either.

Hmm... okay! I guess I'll wait until I'm able to create a topic in the modding forums. Thanks!

Hey Tesvixen welcome to VGU.
If you have mods you want to release, you can release it in the public section. Or if you want to wait to become an approved member, you can than post it in the private mode section. If you want to show off your work, you can make a topic in the modding sections especially if you plan on continually updating the status of your wip mod.
If you have any questions don't hesitate to send me a pm. Thanks.

Thanks for the kind words!
Sadly I've not uploaded many videos lately (HDD space is getting lower than I prefer, so I record less of them) but I'm still working on the mod regularly. Even the beta of Warlords of Draenor hasn't swayed me much!
I'm writing up a 'features' post that details much of what the mod entails, and what remains to be done. Its quite a wall of text....

Hello tesvixen! I was not previously familiar with your work but I'm glad you joined so I can learn more! It's always nice to see new members--especially passionate talented ones.
Have you considered modding TTW? It would allow your FO3 mods to reach more people.
If I can help you with anything for your mods, just ask. I will do what I can.
