Oh the good old times, brings a tear to my eye. The music...the graphics and most important, the plot.
I remember the days when I got my Fallout games. I was just a wee elementary grade schooler when I got my hands on a Fallout 1 cd that was bundled with a gaming mag. I was utterly frantic about the atmosphere, being freaked out by mole rats etc. I completely forgot about it and years later obtained Fallout 2 in the same way. I was just in love with that game, still my top 5 game of all time and I still have the cd case I made myself for the game. And after finishing FO2 i realized I had the first game so I went looking for it and...and...found the cd broken ._. I was heart broken.
Couple of years later I was doing some shopping in an electronics store and saw FO Tactics on sale, I didnt hesitate, ignored my other needed things, got it and immediately went home.
Every time there was a giveaway or special digital sale of Fallout classics I got them.
Got copies on gog and physical ones. My prized possessions.
I also learned the Fallout 2 intro by hard and gave a speech, quoting it word by word for a media/literature class at college.

Plus one for you fenix because you really put me in a Fallout mood on a day where I really didnt know what to play. And everyone that keeps the memory of the old games alive is ok in my books. So lets hit the saloon pardner and get some ice cold sarsaparilla.
But on topic, I really miss the feel of Fallout 2. Fallout 3 was without it and FNV didnt fully bring it back. Both FO3 and FNV feel so...stripped of the serious and adult feeling that FO1 and 2 had. And I dont mean language or gore, I mean the feel of the world. Think about New Reno, the jobs you had there, the horrible state of the city. You could become a porn star for crying out loud. Or a boxer. Or a bouncer. A drug mule even.
Sure new Fallout games have quests that are about darker side of wasteland life but its just not enough. I honestly believe Bethesda should make FO4 like they did Skyrim. Big cities where you have tons of opportunities, groups/factions that offer side jobs.
In new Fallout games I make tons of characters that wear sometimes completely non lore weapons and armor while in FO2 I was happy with a leather jacket, a 10mm SMG and my Chrysalis Highwayman
No offense to Inon Zur but his soundtrack for Fallout 3 was a travesty and all copies should be melted down. Thank God Obsidian used music from the old series. Wow that felt good getting it off my chest.

You'v put me right in the mood to play Fallout 2 !
I agree with @raze4573 , the newer games obviously look better but lack the original nitty gritty feel of the first two titles! I mean them games were f*cking difficult!

I've been watching the "Fallout Lore" series and man it's great to sit back and watch. It's interesting to see the back stories of things and how such a simple concept turns into something big and important in Fallout.
