Hi all,
Thanks for letting me join the forum. First thing, and I hope nobody is offended by my saying this, I just want to save some foreseeable trouble: my user name is NOT my real name, so pls don't tell me its unsafe to use my real name - I know that and used a pseudonym. Thanks for understanding
So, I don't normally post in forums I join... I have a bit of social anxiety and quit making posts on modding forums or releasing any mods (I still did them for personal use only) twentyish years ago, because I failed a security clearance background check due to a mod I'd once released (for System Shock 2) that admittedly used game files from the Wolfenstein 3d remake that was only a few years old at the time. Well, I'm not in a career that requires security clearance anymore, so that's a relief. I found this site while preparing for my first fallout3/NV playthrough in many years, and consequently I'm also about to start doing some personal mods again and thought, well, why not share them this time (assuming that I can get permissions from the authors for those that involve other people's resources since what I'm most likely to do first is female fitment on male-only armors, and retextures/nif-mashups to upgrade NV ADAM and Desert Rangers to use the FO4 NCR Rangermeshes that have been uploaded here (shoutout thanks for that! I'm planning on posting thanks in all the threads of the things I'm using after I get my mod-order stabilized and am able to actually test everything... hand patching mods for compatibility takes a while, I just started this week, and I'm kinda mental in that according to my mod manager I've broken 1000 mods (not ESPs thank goodness) and am not done yet (zEdit merging is my friend, just hoping I don't hit any of the engine limitations like I did in my Skyrim SE playthrough!) - I'm going to finish for personal use first and do my full playthrough to confirm everything works properly, then look into any releases).
My last major released mod was for Half-Life 1 in the late 90s (Yikes! I feel old just typing that!)... I was the model/texture artist and a voice actor for a mod called They Hunger (yes, that one that was in PC Gamer. Yes, I changed my name since then, no I won't tell you what it is now, no I don't work with Neil Manke anymore and have no idea what he's been up to). My skills are rusty, I still use Corel Paint Shop Pro instead of Photoshop, use 3d Studio Max instead of Blender, am generally a Bonafide 'Old Lady' and I've not done a ton in modern engines (and am so old I consider 'New Vegas' a 'modern' engine LOL - in my day animations didn't even have vertex weights! Heck, textures used to be a single file back then rather than split normals and such!), so don't expect anything spectacular or anything at all really other than simple stuff.
As for what I've been up to more recently - mostly tabletop games like D&D, mostly GMing with some writing here and there. Ironically, I think my proudest moment was finding one of the books I helped write on a piracy website, since that meant I was popular enough to steal from LOL.
All that said, if someone wants a voice actor for a middle aged or older person (due to chain smoking many years, my voice is actually pretty androgynous funnily enough, but I personally feel like my 'guy impersonation' is weaksauce in spite of what some people tell me - and if you want a voice for a pretty young thing, look elsewhere - I had a rough life and my voice shows it. If you want grizzled ex-smoker middle-aged woman (or maybe a higher-pitch voiced guy), I'm 100% there. I'd be recording on a Corsair VOID headset in Audacity - I no longer have the professional grade mic from back in the day, and I'm pretty sure the headset mic is better than pro-gear from the 90s anyway
So that'sa me. Umm, probably wrote too much but what the heck. At least I'm not Steve Rogers bad and writing a formal letter.
TLDR: I'm a pushing 40 old lady that last released a major mod in the 90s, getting back into things starting with New Vegas, not expecting to release much but trying to not be a wallflower either. Will voiceact for others, but only for characters my voice 'fits' the character.
EDIT: I just updated my signature with my mod history. Some of my former usernames have been Wicket and JC_COOP. Also, turned out I had a brain fart and forgot entirely that I actually released my female CJ mod as a beta before my work caused me to leave. Amazingly, it is still around in spite of my previous attempts to have it removed, and somebody recently repacked it on a modern site - he didn't ask my permission (he couldn't, I don't use that yahoo e-mail address anymore), but he credited me and he has my retroactive permission now.
