As I've said in the other 'Fallout 4 wishlists' threads... I just want a proper PC version of the game, built and optimized with PC in mind. Skyrim was a half-assed port of the console games and it showed.

Non glichy engine. Creation Kit thingy on release. Dual wield guns. Non OMG YOU HAS TO SAVER ZEE WORLD cheesy plot. Darker story. Classic games super mutants. Game world that completely drags you into its complicated and realistic quests. And my biggest wish, Bethesda developers working on FO4 play the original games: FO1, FO2, Fallout Tactics, read the Fallout Bible, play FNV and make a game that the fans can describe as "Damn this is the best Fallout game since Fallout 2."

I'm a big fan of AI and NPC's, along with companions, just as long as I don't have to send one to their doom. Not that I'm going to form any sort of attachment too them...

exactly, it would be great to have characters that we actually care about. FNV did a better job of that companion-wise than FO3 (because of all the backstory quests), but to have the type of character development that we had in Mass Effect for instance (a stretch, i know) would be insanely awesome

Plus better engine to handle more mods Cx, that 130 mods limit in NV kinda frustrates me and there are over 13k mods on nexus alone . I also wish they would use a more customized engine that can handle more than 20 NPCs in a war.
At one point I had a 50 Geth vs 50 Collectors 'war' in my ME mod. It worked but it had a lot of slowdown/stuttering sound, so I trimmed it down to around 20v20.
As for the mod limit, I'm amazed that the games can handle 130. I generally only run 7-10 myself, because most mods don't interest me and because I prefer game stability to extra content.

I guess you are not a mod fanatic person like I am , I literally can't play Skyrim, Fallout 3 or NV without a tons of mods, I had to merge my weapon and armor mods into a single esp at some points due to mods taking too many load orders. I also have a bunch of quest mods and the other ones are additional to the Wasteland.
@hitman47101: I doubt Obsidian would take over, since they are working really hard on their new game, Armored Warfare, its beta is coming close.

I would love to see realistic ballistics and firearm mechanics. I've always hated how there was no bullet drop or delay for the bullets making contact at a distance and how there was no recoil. Of course I use mods for that and new mods could be made for FO4, but I'd love to see it as a feature in the vanilla game.
Other than that, maybe a more immersive stealth system. One that doesn't require you to crouch for stealth and is more based off of FOV and Lighting. Maybe even some stealth killmoves like where you silently stab somebody while covering their mouth.

I'm more into modding than mods themselves, I think. The mods that interest me most as a player are those that add story or quests, or things to fight. Both FO3 and NV suffer from huge stretches of 'well, nothing to do here' and that's part of the reason I started modding it to the extent that I did.
I don't especially care about weapon mods (I can only have so many versions of an AK-47 before the lines blur) unless they're weapons from games I really enjoy like ME or Metroid... at which point I'm likely to port them myself. I use Apocalypse Armory though, mainly because it adds its weapons to the enemies in a realistic fashion, and that's important to me.
And armor/clothing mods in general don't appeal to me because most of them use body types I dislike (like type 3). So I use my own custom bodies for the races I add, and if there's an armor I want to convert to one of them I do it myself... and I generally bake that into one of my existing mods so that I'm not adding yet another esp to my load order.
I'd probably use more mods if they didn't wreck stability and had a better way to avoid creating conflicts with each other. But I see all this talk of merged patches and bash this and compatibility that... and I think "thank god I don't have to bother with that crap."
And no, Obsidian is 100% not involved with the next Bethesda game. They were actually trying to get permission to make a second New Vegas, but weren't able to. So they are working on games of their own for now (kickstarter ftw).

You can do this in Skyrim, so it doesn't seem like a stretch to think there'll be some version of it in future Fallout titles.

That kinda sucks, considering how they could have make a lot of things to it, I'd love to revisit New Vegas to see how things have changed by the hands of the Courier 6.
And about the compability and conflicts thing, I just use LOOT and read the descriptions of the mods before I download to check for incompabilities before installing so it'd hardly be a problem. :p Though I must admit it had taken me about 3 times of uninstalling and reinstalling to get a new, fresh, clean game to mod again, and make it stable, too. Took me lots of times checking for issues too , I didn't use LOOT back then.

More scale,in Skyrim you hear about this horrible civil war tearing a province apart.Seems pretty chill to me,I come across some dead soldiers now and then, but wolves and bandits are a far greater threat. In FNV you get this story of two massive post-apocalyptic superpowers facing off,the bear and the bull. And when you join one faction one of your first objectives is to either storm Nelson and retake it,or storm Camp Forlorn hope and conquer it. They build this up to be a massive battle that will secure the coast and have a major effect on a factions power. They give you a squad of grunts. PS4 and Xbone should be able to handle a greater number of npc's,and honestly they don't need to add many more just add more scripted explosions and death.
Next up for the breaking wheel is the immersion, when I complete a quest instead of caps being deposited into my inventory, and when picking up items I don't want that ammo box to just disappear.I want to be handed money, and to pick up the ammo box. I would also like to see some sort of character evolution,as in when first firing a weapon reload times are longer and accuracy is decreased, but after 500hrs of spraying lead and developing serious shoulder calluses your guy knows his stuff.
So that's it and sorry I hate to be "that guy" who types up a college essay, and sorry for the bad english it's not my 1st language.

I'd love to be able to dual wield pistols or one handed guns/melee, better and more developed characters and companions. Fallout New Vegas companions are way better than skyrim's companions(pack mules and door blockers the lot of em )
Edit: Better gunplay in Fallout 4 will also be a huge wish come true to me. FNV vanilla gunplay is a bit frustrating.

I'd argue that Serana from Dawnguard easily holds up against any companion from NV or FO3. She has a ton of dialogue and development as a character.
I'm in that rare group of people that actually kind of dislikes Skyrim, but I loved that companion. She was brilliantly done, IMO.

I'd love an entire overhaul of the travel-system. Instead of fast travelling, you get cars. Or rip the horses system from Skyrim. It always made me really angry how in Fallout: New Vegas, the game kinda felt like a western - but they never included horses.

So i would love to see a more intense and long storyline with lots of other little connecting stories. I want to see more connection among the wasteland, such as people from primm knowing people in good springs and people in nipton knowing people in primm or novac. Obviously fallout 4 would have different towns but it would be nice if communities felt like communities and weren't isolated. More immersive things like people looking like they do something for a living instead of sitting around in there boarded up houses all day or walking between just point A and point B smoking a cigarette. That's another thing if people are living in houses can they please have un-boarded windows, like who would leave there windows boarded like that.
So for more Immersion though different back stories would be nice. Like maybe your character can be from out of the area and nobody knows them, from a vault, from the area which means that people would know who you are before you become a hero or a devil, or a pre-war soldier who's awoken from cryogenic sleep much later than expected. Each option would come with its perks. The two first ones would be given the the 'out of town' perk and what that would do is give you better prices with caravans, and 'plausible deniability' which would make you less recognizable so if you wrong a faction they won't always remember you or if you steal from someone they might not remember you. The Other two would have the 'Local' perk and would basically know some locations in the area that relate to their story, a few you could even instantly fast travel too. The other perk would allow for more fame to be gained with factions.
As for items, there needs to be more of everything. There needs to be a wide variety of armor so the raiders and other locals aren't always wearing the same six things and and even larger variety of weapons so that except for groups that are supposed to be mostly uniform there will only be one or two highly common weapons instead of all of them being common as well as a chance for eve low level enemies to spawn with top shelf gear. Backpacks need to be included with a wide variety of different and not super over powered. Gasmasks would be spectacular. More recepie's for crafting and especially more with some more complication.

I personally would love to see random encounters while fast traveling, also an assassin's guild perhaps, endless missions involving assassination, I would also love to see the option to open a business, along with more diverse factions and towns with almost endless hours of interesting storylines. Last but not least a cloaked intelligent deathclaw companion like Goris from Fallout 2, these would all be great to have.

Something else I want... (sorry for caps but this drives me nuts)
PLAYER HEAD TRACKING.
It drives me insane how the player character in every Bethesda game since Oblivion does not look or even glance at other NPCs. You stand there staring ahead like a spaced out whackjob and it just... I hate it. There's a reason the headtracking mod over on the Skyrim nexus is one of the most popular.
Because it should have been there to begin with. Ugh.

@Tesvixen I wonder if the skyrim headtracking mod can be disassembled and reassembled into FNV
