| Vortex Mod Manager
I apologize if not posted in the right place. Is there a thread to discuss this here? I searched a while and found only two posts relevant to the subject of Vortex but they were just opinions. Any advice to give before I spend more time modding FNV further with NMM? |

| Best advice I can give.
Use MO2.
Use Vortex if you want but it's sorely lacking in capability when it comes to modding FNV and has the potential to really jack up your game files. MO2 keeps everything separate which is invaluable when experimenting with a variety of mods.

| Thank you for the swift answer. Can you transfer NMM Mods to MO2. Or is it better to start from scratch? |

| The archives can be moved quickly, but you still have to install each individual mod. _________________ ____________________________________________________________

| A lot of people who know what they're saying will tell you MO2 is the best. Personally, I like NMM. It's incredibly simple to use and it works perfectly. |

| Mine was Mod Organizer the Old Version just the 1st one, it's working perfectly just arrange the esp and archive files and voila. Perfect!
Those other mod manager used more alot of ram space you can see it on your Task Manager it depends on your Installed mods although ENB host is another thing when it comes to ram performance they mixed, i only used MO2 on my FO4 still ram is important if you're lack on it, like me.
CPU and Ram Usage is important to me. |

Incredibly simple yes, but it pays to learn how to use MO2. You will save an unexplainable amount of time, effort and frustration by learning how to use MO2. This is coming from someone who used NMM for the better part of 4 years. _________________ ____________________________________________________________

| @Menace Wait, what do you mean by "save RAM"? Your mod manager isn't running on the background when you run the game, is it? |

| I was using Vortex on New Vegas for a while but after I got my mods installed and played for a little while I started having issues like Solid Project randomly disabling itself mid game as well as Project Nevada and other mods. I was getting messages mid game saying these mods were not installed properly even though I knew for a fact they were. I then switched over to FOMM and it solved my issue completely and havent had any issues since. Just something to keep in mind and hopefully you can avoid the same headache I went through. Hope this helps! |

I'd like to follow up on this. I was confused at first because as far as I knew the mod manager wasn't running in the background when you play. Well, I decided to give MO2 a go. Didn't seem too complicated, and a lot of people recommend it. Well, I now know what you were referring to: MO2 has to be open for it to work. If I just load NVSE, my mods don't load. NMM on the other hand didn't need to be running. Once you activated the mod, it stayed that way. It seems like in terms of performance, that would make NMM the better option, unless it also runs on the background and I just never realized it. |

| If you want control over what your sticking into your data files I 100% recommend MO2
It treats every mod like a plugin so stuff doesn't overwrite each other, sometimes losing potentially critical files when taking out mods you dont want anymore with nothing to replace it
As I recall NMM doesn't remove mods properly either when told to, whereas MO2 does
I stuck with NMM for literally years because I was stubborn and didn't want to learn another Mod Manager
However I hadn't actually played my games for years because everytime I downloaded a mod I didn't like, it just turned my whole load order into one big mess so I started again - I eventually got sick of this after like, 8 years of modding, and tried MO2 - never looked back
MO2 gives you so much control over your load order, I can't recommend it enough _________________ - My YouTube - |

| I personally use FOMM, and a lot of people warn against it, but the only mods I've had troubled with were put together like GARBAGE. I would know, I went into a lot of them, fixed their file structure and naming conventions and tah-dah, everything suddenly worked perfectly! |

| Just reiterating the sentiment i've already seen here, but honestly, MO2 is leagues ahead of all the others. I've used FOMM, MO, NMM, Vortex, and nothing keeps my game quite as stable as MO2.
a fun thing i actually use MO2 for, is its ability to not deploy any files in your actual fallout folder. It uses a virtual folder. with this, you can have 1 single install of FNV, and have separate instances. Meaning i could have a TTW setup, a New California setup, and a regular FNV modded, all without messing with each other or the base folder. It's a wet dream come true for anyone who likes being organized. _________________ so what i am supposed to do with this? Eat it?
