Many of you will know Asurah's Animation Pack on Nexus. Fantastic, modern looking, though sadly unfinished mod.
My issue with it is that it doesn't fix one very serious problem that comes with the game: Rifles are always pointing forward really prominently, and really close to your head (in 1st person). A bulky rifle (say, the Gauss rifle) can easily cover half of the screen.
W.A.R. fixes this by keeping the rifle lower, closer to your chest (which is how you would realistically hold it), but its animations are nowhere near the same quality.
I've tried combining them both, using Asurah's animation with WAR weapon positioning and while it works most of the time, certain weapons are just completely off, pointing diagonally when you aim. and shooting in the opposite direction (it still hits the target but it looks ridiculous).
Ideally, what I'm hoping for is somebody who knows of a mod that lowers the weapon when you're not shooting, like more modern fps do. But if not, how would one combine the two of them to get what I want? Or is there a better animation mod I don't know about?

I think it's the best to demonstrate with a video how my game looks like.
Mods I'm using (with FOV 85): -New Vegas - Enhanced Camera -Weapon Animation Replacers - Enhanced Camera compatibility pack -Asurah's Animation Pack -Weapon Animation Replacers (for the rest)
For my personal taste this is the best possible outcome which I can get, though not yet perfect since some shotgun animations are still buggy. Sometimes they shoot in the air or on the ground if you look straight and shoot.

Looks amazing man! So, 2 questions. How did you got them to work though? Because I have tried combining the two and it never works And also, what mod are you using for those weapons?

Well, I have these mods installed manually. Except Asurah's, which is through Mod Organizer. This way I can easily check if everything works with Asurah's animations and turn it on and off anytime I want. So basically I have Asurah's animations running over Weapon Animation Replacers when it's turned on. My setup also requires Enhanced Camera and Enhanced Camera compatibility pack so you could see what I see.
As for weapons. Every weapon mod I have are: -Weapons of the New Millenia -BF4 Assault Pack -MojaveTerror -GUNniversaryWPNPack (-EVE)
MojaveTerror and GUNniversaryWPNPack can be found from Aarius' Mod Dump at Public Releases.

Oh I guess EVE would change the Gauss rifle, wouldn't it? I haven't used EVE in a while since the FO4 weapon replacer covers energy weapon (and looks better, in my opinion) and EXE is better for effects. But I don't like the FO4 gauss (not without mods anyway) so I was looking for a retexture, and the only one I could find wasn't very good. But I actually managed to restore mods to the Gauss rifle like in aarius original mod, so I guess that's that.
Anyway, so let me ask you this. What I did when I tried this is install Asurah (through NMM) then manually replace the files I didn't want with the ones from WAR. If I'm understanding correctly, that sounds like what you did, so where am I going wrong. Because several rifles are completely off.

Oh that's interesting. I never considered using multiple packs like that! Great video.

@gavin gold The way I have these mods installed are like this: Everything except Asurah's animations are installed in New Vegas data folder. Asurah's animations are in Mod Organizer's mods folder. (Or anything else which mod manager you prefer).
Also I removed "2hrattack5_a" since the bolt-action attack animations for me are buggy and playing with Weapon Animation Replacers are better for now for that certain animation.
If you want to experiment, always remember to have backup copies if something goes wrong.

OK, I figured it out. I simply installed Asurah and then replaced two files. Just the optional grips from W.A.R which is what I wanted so that the weapons wouldn't occupy the entire screen. And it worked perfectly, which is the strangest thing, because I remember doing that before and it didn't work.
