| I am a big fan of Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 4, and I didn't end up buying Fallout 76 for myself (I was given it as a gift for Christmas and I still haven't opened it out of the packaging after hearing everything about it).
After hearing all of the different controversies that Bethesda has gotten themselves into with Fallout 76, it seems that a lot of people have just lost faith in Bethesda.
So my question is, are you still going to buy Fallout 5 when it comes out, or are you not? |

| yeah im definitely going too, i know im not supposed to support companies that do awful things or try to exploit their consumers, and with every other developer i stick to that. But the fallout series means too much to me to not get fallout 5. so im going to buy it as soon as its out.

That's fair, I love it too, I feel like I may wait a couple of days or a week to see what different people's reactions are, but Idk. |

| It's weird. Bethesda still isn't at 'Oh look at me and how anti-consumer I am' - The worst thing they've done in my eyes is the price markup thing they did that one time for XMAS stuff in the atomic shop. Everything else? Rectified, being rectified, fake or not worth getting in a fuss over. Folk'll probably call me a shill for it, but yeah - I'm still fine with Bethesda. _________________ And I find, on my way to death and happiness, that my heroes, my heroes dress in black.

| If its made by bethesda, no. I try to not just "consoom" to "consoom". Their neglect for quality and focus on profit turned me off. If obsidian or another studio is given more creative freedom for a project sure. Also east coast fallout games are not terrible interesting. We won't see fallout 5 for years to come. _________________ swiggitty swooty I'm coming for that booty -George Washington |

| It'll be a while, probably 2025 at the earliest, so we'll be able to see what they add/change for Starfield and ESVI. If those go well, we can have some hope. I do think they've at least learned something from Fallout 4 and 76. Wastelanders had the return of actual dialogue choices and skill checks instead of the illusion of them, so that's a step back in the right direction. _________________ Get out of here stalker.

| I obviously didn't play Wastelanders but the dialogue system did look good. I didn't hate the new dialogue system of Fallout 4, but you can't beat the FNV style. |

| I didn't buy Fallout 4 or Fallout 76. I screen most of the entertainment I purchase so that my money isn't wasted. I had no interest in either after seeing their features, the changes they made to the formula and how uninspired their plots and characters felt.
IF Bethesda follows these same, super dumb-ed down, main stream appeal type practices, then I likely will have no interest in any future product they put out. Hell, I probably won't even give Fallout 5 a passing glance unless they'd put it on a different engine, I'm just so stick of the corner cutting at this point. They have access to Id Tech, and have a group of people that can release a decent shooter with Doom 2016 and Eternal, and both crap all over anything Bethesda proper has put out in decades.
I will not be buying Fallout 5 on good faith, I have little to no faith left to invest in them, they have to impress ME now before I buy something from them. |

| I’ll be honest, I’ll probably purchase the game just for the lore aspects. The universe is so interesting. The Boston setting of fallout 4 when it was announced caught my attention mainly due to the mystery of the institute. Survivor 2299 also made me extremely hyped. |

That's one of my favourite parts about Fallout, the lore in these games are second to none. |

I'm just curious, what do you mean by super dumb-ed down, main stream appeal type practices? Just curious I realize that was a bit nebulous and broad, so let me specify a few of the areas I had problems with. For one, the dialogue system in FO4 was a mistake, Bethesda admitted that it was and I can't imagine they'd try something like it in the future, so I'm not that worried about THAT specifically going forward, but it has steered me away from FO4 all the same. Then you get to the stripping of the RPG mechanics, opting for a SPECIAL system without Skills and only Perks to supplement it. Many of us drew the conclusion that this was designed in a way as to not intimidate new players with the more robust system the games have had since Fallout 1 (disregarding off-shoot titles like Fallout Tactics). The previous system allowed for a lot more build variety, especially since things could outright be gated based on your stat investments and whether you met the correct thresholds, which could inspire players to play the game again and try different builds. The new system felt like Skyrim, where everyone would ultimately end up as a sort of "jake-of-all-trades" type build, meaning that individuality and customization was kind of tossed out the window. Not to mention, I'm sure building things that way was a convenience for the developers who didn't have to think of every single angle on something to accommodate the most players with a greater degree of variety in mind. You get the impression that certain people only play one type of character in their RPG's and want Fallout to follow that same mindset, with no barring of access to any content, regardless of how the character is made. I just disagree with that philosophy entirely, unless you really get creative with the different approaches to a given situation that you have (which we did see showcased pretty well in New Vegas, but still with its understandable limits). The way FO4 was built felt like a very half-hearted attempted at some kind of looter shooter without the loot or the gunplay to back it up. Sure FO4 has some of the best gunplay we've ever seen in Fallout, but then you have to compare it to other shooters out there and it's just doesn't compare. Borderlands, Doom, any of the military shooters we've had in the past couple of decades shine by comparison to FO4, which meant the main mechanics it would have going for it to individualize itself and shine on its own merits would be the RPG mechanics...which were stripped out. And that's the biggest problem I have with the series moving forward. I can deal with a crap story and uninteresting characters if the main mechanics are solid and fun to play with, but but this streamlining of the design really kills those chances for me. Until I see a major shakeup to the current formula, I wouldn't even consider FO5 for a purchase. |

| I would buy whatever the next fallout is as long as its not another fallout 76 multiplayer grind fest. I mean hell i would be happy with a fallout 4 special edition with the improvements from 76 in regards to the engine as well as durability and lighting.
I think even tho 76 was a massive flop in my opinion as a fallout game you can see signs of them course correcting slightly with a more interesting perk build system, survival elements as a standard with durability making a return, more crafting options as well as now having a silent protagonist again for role play with the new npc dialogue.
It will be interesting to see where they take a new fallout game _________________ The OG Queen of 76 PortingCheck out my Ko-fi page for pictures, access to my mods and to help support my McDonald's addiction. |

Until I see a major shakeup to the current formula, I wouldn't even consider FO5 for a purchase. Yeah I agree with you there about the dialogue system. Even though I didn't think it was the worst thing in the world, I always now end up installing Extended Dialogue Interface. It's just better to see what you're actual responses are going to be I think. And I think that's a fair comment on the SPECIAL system. I do wish that they had the different skills as well as the perks. For me personally, although I know Fallout is different from Skyrim, I love how in Skyrim you level up skills, by actually USING the skills. Idk how you'd incorporate that into Fallout with the Perk and SPECIAL system, but I think it'd be interesting to have that in. And yeah, I imagine it's somewhat difficult for Bethesda to try and balance having great shooting with the workshop mode and all that. I think if they took out the workshop mode and just focused on the gun play more, then the gunplay would have been better (I do love the workshop mode). Tbf though, they did MASSIVELY expand customisation of guns, which I think is one of Fallout 4's best parts. But yeah I see what you mean anyway. - AlanaSP wrote:

But yeah those are good suggestions. I didn't hate the silent protagonist, but in Fallout, you don't wanna be boxed into having just one voice or backstory. Personally, I think there's only one place Fallout can now go to... SPACE |

| I would quite like to see more space, loved the mothership zeta dlc for fallout 3 as well as the hints and such about the enclave being in space. Would be interesting where they take the timeline too.
I just wanna be able to join the enclave again :'( _________________ The OG Queen of 76 PortingCheck out my Ko-fi page for pictures, access to my mods and to help support my McDonald's addiction. |

I just wanna be able to join the enclave again :'( See, I just want the opportunity to join the Enclave so I can reject it, unless the Enclave all of a sudden become the good guys . Honestly though, the thing that'll sell me on Fallout 5 will probably boil down to: A) The setting B) The factions involved in it I just wanna see something different and out there. |

| Yeah I am porbably going to buy it, even though it's most likely going to be a bad Fallout game with no RPG elements, an awful story and bad dialogues just like Fallout 4.
Edit: Just got a downvote for this post, whoever downvoted please explain why? Did I hurt your feelings when I said FO4 is bad? |
