Howdy folks! In case you didn't know or weren't aware, Bethesda invited a few dozen members of the press, streamers, and youtube creators to a special press only event that included the ability to play Fallout 76 for three hours and then share any recorded gameplay with the general public.
Your favorite Fallout youtuber has probably posted a video related to it (or not, RIP Shoddycast) so I suggest checking their channels to see if they have any of this gameplay available. Here are a few videos from a smattering of Youtubers, definitely worth checking out if you are on the fence about Fallout 76.
Oxhorn is one of my favorite Fallout creators, and he did a deep dive on the interior of Vault 76
Juicehead released his full three hours of gameplay unedited if anyone is interested in seeing the lulls as well as the exciting points
Today is the day all the footage from the event can be released, so there's plenty of news around Fallout 76 coming out. I am personally excited for the game after watching the new gameplay. I think the game looks good minus some optimization problems, and I think the actual game world will be large enough to not only keep us interested, but to prevent constant PvP at all times. What do you guys think? Are you yay or nay for this new Fallout?

Not sure how I feel about it just yet but the game really feels lonely from a solo player's perspective. Looks fun though especially if you get to meet and bond with random players just by watching Juicehead's and Manyatruenerd's footage.
Looking forward to watching the perspective of other Youtubers to get more information on the game.

@ahyuser001 I get what you're saying. A fallout game's biggest strength was that even in times of seemingly complete isolation, you were never truly alone. Gunners, Raiders, or even a synth was always there, simply waiting for you to enter the cell to begin combat. In this one, this NPC threat is replaced with other players, so while we will have the possibility of chaos should players turn into raiders on site, it will most certainly lose some of the magic of not knowing who was waiting around the corner for you in that dark subway tunnel.

@TheHulksCousin I agree and I would also like to add that the past Fallout games were like clay. You could mold the world using your choices and actions.
In Fallout 76 however it feels like reading a collection of short stories. It is fun to read/experience but it gets repetitive and boring when you experience the same thing over and over again and lonely since there is no interaction with anything that resembles a sentient being.
It also feels that choices in this game is non-existent. I have watched the Fallout 76 gameplay of Juicehead, Manyatruenerd and Oxhorn and the quests all have a linear story which means you do not get to change the world outside launching a nuclear warhead which to me is the same as being strangled to death or being put on a straight jacket. It would be very limiting and frustrating for me to play.
The PVP looks fun initially but the threat of another player killing you is not real. You can simply ignore another player if they are attacking you since the damage is drastically reduced and turn on pacifist mode so that you do not deal damage to other players. If they manage to kill you then they would be penalized heavily with a wanted bounty on their head and you do not lose anything.
It would be annoying for sure but in the end other players are not a threat if anything you could troll other people into killing you so that they get a wanted bounty or even let yourself be killed if another player has pacifist mode turned off.
This game heavily relies on its community to be successful so I guess I will just have to wait until I see what kind of people/communities this game would create before I buy it.

After watching several hours worth of footage I have to say that I am still very much interested in the game. Sure it isn't like any of the single player games but that is perfectly fine. Not EVERY title in a series needs to abide by the rules laid by game prior (IE: Fallout Shelter, Elder Scrolls: Online, Halo Wars, Halo 3 ODST), experimentation is perfectly fine.
By the looks of things though the way that the "story" will be seems somewhat interesting and leads to a few outcomes in the end. While the overall premise of Vault 76 was to rebuild it does seem like there was more to it as the Overseer had been tasked with locating any potential nuclear silos remaining in West Virginia, to find them and then to keep them guarded. Which this alone leaves a rather major player choice as is. What do you do when you find the codes? Keep them and prevent another major disaster, and help the Overseer? Do you launch them and cause trouble disregarding the past? Loot the codes and continue to main goal of Vault 76? Maybe you can disarm them rendering them useless? While the first three are definitely do-able the last I would be surprised if we were able to do.
I also imagine we will see people create factions due to a LOT of items being in the game. Primarily I can see people resurrecting the Responders faction, people making a Brotherhood of Steel faction and an Enclave faction as both the Enclave and BoS have stuff inside this game (uniforms and power armor). Personally the potential of this has me excited as the factions that might be made could be actual living things that extend to large communities of players. Couple that with the fact that if private servers become a thing seeing servers dedicated to this sort of content would probably be common and a potential blast.
But that is all just what I gathered and how I feel about it.
The game does look very sandbox like which is fantastic, but I just hope that the game lives long enough to see its full potential especially with potential future map expansions (seeing as where we are in WV both Pittsburgh/The Pit and D.C. are relatively close by).

@Fury I will totally be invested in this game if they enable players to create factions(not just made up by players but an actual system in the game that allows players to define themselves as a group like the guild system in most MMORPGs) and expand the PVP system to allow players to declare war with other groups/factions.
It would also be nice if players were allowed to create custom quests(fetch, kill, bounty, build, etc) since there are a limited amount of quest givers in the game. That would allow the community to breath life into the dead world that is in Fallout 76.
I have yet to see all of the Youtuber's gameplay on Fallout 76 but I feel Gopher's video pretty much sums up what we should expect on this game.

Not my cup of tea. The world map looks really cool, but the multiplayer just looks really sluggish and wonky. I might check it out on sale.

@ahyuser001 Had yet to actually watch Gopher's stuff, I put my thoughts on that in the spoiler.
Who really knows though what Bethesda intends to do post-launch.
Personally I would love to see a feature akin to clans/guilds, but even if they don't do that odds are people will find a way regardless, especially with how creative the community is (could genuinely see a "add-on" later down the line for this).
As for the quests I will agree with you on that as well. Then again at this time we don't know if there are quests that refresh daily or not, I imagine there will be as there will have to be a way to earn Atom still even if it is a slow way.
Stepping away from quests though there is apparently a radio station that is tied exclusively to PvP, a bounty hunter mode of sorts not tied to being a "murderer". It is thought that anyone listening to it will be labeled as a "hunted" or a "hunter", potentially both without someone knowing. So that is what it seems to be at least, I know Juicehead talked about this in one of his videos (isn't a bad guy when he isn't trying to make us look like crooks).
Now as for the Gopher bit, here is that Spoiler filled with my opinion on his video.
Input on Gopher's Video:
For starters around the 4:00 minute mark when he described the people that are likely to like Fallout 76 he described the person I am. I LOVE open worlds that are full of detail and have rich lore, because in all actuality THAT is what you will be stuck with when you beat the average 4-8 hour long story and if said world space is bad odds are you will not stick around too long.
Best example of this to me is Fallout: New Vegas. The story was solid, the gun play was an improvement, the factions were interesting, but by god did the Mojave suck. It felt linear, there wasn't much to explore in terms of ruins, the desert was dull (seen it once you've seen it a thousand times) - it just felt wrong. A world where I wanted to be invested but after so long I just couldn't anymore due to how damn boring everything felt.
Now compare that to Fallout 3 where in which the story was average in terms of story and sub-par in terms of combat but where it lacked in those it more than made up for it in the worldspace. There was so much to explore from Oasis and Harold to the Mall where Talon Company fought mutants all while Underworld - a safe haven for ghouls housed in a national Museum to various military installations all of which were fun to explore.
Now from what I have seen of 76 the game IS what I want despite it's lack of engaging story. The world is very open and diverse ranging from lush forests to wet swamps all while having their own enemies for the regions. In terms of gunplay it will ride off of Fallout 4's gunplay in which I thought was great, but now add that 40mm grenade launchers are returning along with pump shotguns and the 10mm SMG and you have so much diversity in character builds that it will be insane, couple that with various clothing and there is a heap potential for running around as a Enclave Heavy Soldier that rocks the machine gun or a Brotherhood Scout that uses SMGs and a Sniper or something in between like a bounty hunter that is a jack of all trades.
I could go on and on about what I have seen that has me somewhat sold but that would easily be another few hundred words so I won't.

@Fury My only worry with games with tons of exploration value is you will eventually get to the point where you have explored every nook and cranny and discovered every bit of lore in the area that you have nothing to do.
Bethesda plans to support this game "forever" so that is something to look forward to I guess.
I still wish there was a system that would allow players to group up and distinguish themselves from the rest and allow said groups to battle it out with other groups. This game is inspired by Rust after all and what better drama than conflict between groups of people.
If they won't do it at least let modders do it but we have to wait until next year for that.

Looks good. Like a more polished Fallout 4. My only issues still stand with the MMO/online portion. Its fun to have NPCs and quests from them. It would be nice to have a world for single player too. Since I don't have ethernet in my new house. Also microtransactions...they need to stop.

To the people who want to watch the Fallout 76 videos but are overwhelmed by the number of people posting them, I recommend watching this video from Juicehead. It is a great video to start then just click on the links that he posted for more footage from the creator if the clip interested you.

I've really gone off Juicehead recently. He keeps spamming his channel with Fallout 76, dragging what are basically 1 min talking points into 10-15 min vidoes.
I mean I literally just counted. 17 videos in the past week, all talking about the same thing. 2 seperate videos talking about Bethesda's lore for the Brotherhood... It's legitimately infuriating.
But yeah, a lot details in Fallout 76 do look cool and hopefully they'll find a way into other games. Things like the creatures and this haunted areas idea are really cool. The whole supernatural element in Fallout is something I wish they'd explore a little more, even if it does turn out to be something like hallucinogens or something. One of the best side stories in Fallout 3 revolved around the Krivbeknih and the Dunwich building, so it would be cool to see how they get treated/received fully in this game.
