| "Article 13 puts more onus on websites to enforce copyright and could mean that every online platform that allows users to post text, sounds, code or images will need some form of content-recognition system to review all material that users upload"
could this article 13 represent a threat to communities like the gun network or moddb? Link to the source --> Bbc news |

| It's a threat to everyone really. While it has no jurisdiction over Americans or other countries who aren't on board with it, it is going to effectively stop the spread of anything that the poster does not own or have written permission to post. Not to try to bring politics into this, but that's what is going to suffer the most from it. I believe it's largely a way to control who talks about what. For this site, it'll hurt us because anyone from countries who are on board with this now have their hands tied behind their backs. If this site is based in one of those countries, then we're all affected.
From what I heard/read, it's not fully a law yet so there is still hope. They're still trying, but I think they have one more obstacle to get by before they can go through with it. I don't see things going well if they pass it. |

| there is still a way to go against it. the final vote about this is on the 3rd or 4th of july. there is a petition that everyone can sign. the link to it is here... https://www.change.org/p/stoppt-die-zensurmaschine-rettet-das-internet-uploadfilter _________________ I am not modding for fallout 4, but if someone like to port my mods to fO4, please feel free to do it. Just give proper credits. thank you |

i think it will be a matter of time. If I remember correctly Nexus already have some regulations regarding the usage of assets directly ripped off other video games, but still it allows modders to post mods containing items that replicate stuff from other videogames as long as they have been recreated from 0. This it's something that could be changed by that article. (say goodbye to witchers swords for skyrim or the recently pubblished halo armors for fallout 4). |

| I don't think a change.org petition will work very well, if you are part of the EU and want to oppose this, I can only suggest you get in touch with your local MEP and advise them against this. _________________ Hee to the ho. |

| I think its a dumbass law. Although I do not live in the UK. I feel like it just shows how insecure the UK government is, and how they cant handle humor, criticism, and so on. I dont see how anyone would be on board with this besides for the top dogs (aka the government) |

| So, is this anything like in America where an older generation people who don't know how the internet works is making internet policy? Article 11 justification: "Designed to limit the power over news publishers that tech giants such as Facebook and Google have, it requires online platforms to pay publishers a fee if they link to their news content.......The theory is that this would help support smaller news publishers and drive users to their homepages rather than directly to their news stories." -Won't this kill traffic for smaller news publishers when affected sites decide not to allow linked news sites to avoid paying "link tax"...whereas larger news conglomerates and sources actually pay Google, Youtube, Facebook, etc. to feature their news content. - nervo82 wrote:

Nexus already have some regulations regarding the usage of assets directly ripped off other video games, say goodbye to witchers swords for skyrim You are correct that big named sites like Nexusmods do a decent job policing their stuff and mods assets that are from 3rd party IPs and modders often have documentation giving permission to port including Witcher Assets from CD Project Red and STALKER assets from GSC Gameworld. |

| I worry this site is always threatened. It's lax policies on copyright can one day be it's downfall. I cross my fingers every time I log on that the site will still be here. _________________ |

| Signed, although have doubts if just petition could change something. Whats needed is mass street protests against it like we had in the case of ACTA not so long ago.
They finally decided to censorship internet. Who would think that? |
