Subject: Need some help with applying certain textures. (solved) Wed Jun 06, 2018 4:07 pm
Edit: So dunno how much time had passed after I had written this bt I did figure out stuff eventually. Once again the shader flags in nifskope have a big role in this. These four boxes have a lot to do with applying enviromental map and thus being able to make guns look prettier. this video also helped out a lot (somehow missed it)
So I've decided to ask here as I don't know where else.
Old and solved: I've now released a couple of weapon mods over the last few months and want to continue doing that for a long while. The only problem is that I'm currently doing it kind of wrong but I have no idea how to do it right as all programs/websites and downloads have been taken down from the internet in due time.
I want to create guns with textures and maps of the same quality as Millenia but I'm not sure if this is possible anymore.
This video goes over texturing he does on his guns and included help on how to create specular, gloss and ao maps to make his weapons look better ingame. He recommends checking out this website for more details: And the website isn't there anymore ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ He also uses 3pointshader or recommends DirectXshader to work with shadows inside 3dsmax.
I'm using 3dsmax 2015 and can't find versions from both of these for my version ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
So now I'm limited to only porting certain guns because I only need normal and diffuse maps and throw in gloss maps that most likely don't even add anything. Even on top of that a lot of my normal maps don't have good alpha channels so my guns come out way too shiny.
Basically I need some tutorial or website or utility for 3dsmax to get this stuff working but I don't know how and thus I can't improve my weapon mods. And I don't want that so if anyone here also makes weapon or armour mods for both New Vegas or 4 and could explain how he/she does it that would be of great help.
