Someone ask me this question today and I couldn't think of a good answer other than they want to play as the bad guys. Do you guys have any good reasons for hailing Caesar?

Well we get to slaughter,eat peope,conquer,destroy,ensalve and its fun you know.

I honestly have no idea. As an outsider there is no reason to follow caesar. It doesnt make sense, even for the most sadistic bastard in the wastes to become part of the legion, you voluntarily become a slave.

A slave?!I think not,you become feared and powerfull when you join the Legion and i admit i killed Caesar from brain cancer then Lanius took his place but that doenst matter now all it matters is the kills and passion we gain and from passion we get power.

In my opinion even if you are willing to play as badass mofo you wouldnt ally with the legion. Why would you want those skirt wearing little sissies telling you what to do if you could make them fear you?

Wait there's a good reason your character is sick that skirt-wearing men are made fun off in the ncr and wants to bring fashion-standarts to his likings.

Who says they tell me to do things?I killed the whole Brotherhood alone,i killed the Whoe Camp Mcraan alone,even slaughtered Jacob's town ALONE and you think those Legion nutbars are gonnna command me?Well for quests only but im the boss of the Arena none fucks with Legate Me-ius.

I could be just in beliefs maybe some people truly thought the legion would bring an end to chaos in the mohave. Im not one of those lol. That being said they brought structure and orgization to many tribes and made them into a fighting force to rival the NCR. Imagine the NCR if, with all its resources, could manage to have a structured system. They instead are bled from the inside from bureaucracy, corruption, and politics.

I think they could of expanded on the legion a bit more made it a bit more fun to play as one of them they still have Lanius do.

I never understood why anyone would want to support the Legion or the NCR. Both of them vie for control, both of them have caused suffering in some form or another. NCR are a bunch of carpetbaggers run by kakistocrats and shamocrats. Legion are just your cookie-cutter tyrants.

For variety. I don't actually enjoy being evil in Fallout, but I've played good and neutral a lot of times, and never done a playthrough siding with the Legion. So, why not try it?

Although I don't look forward to having to kill NCR characters I love Or having squads of Rangers after me, for that matter. I normally side with the NCR, so this breaks my heart.

But all I have to do is remind myself that this is just an alternative playthrough, that none of this is *really* happening. It's like... an alternative timeline. It doesn't count.

Because the Legion is a society unlike any we are, generally, familiar with today. The NCR is only seen as the "good guys" because they tend to think like we do. The legion on the other hand is all about "survival of the fittest" they take what they want, when they need it. It also says something about the Legion that their lands are safer to travel through and how disciplined its army is. In my view, the Legion is actually more adapt to survive in the wasteland, given that they are just as capable of getting and holding lands just as well as the NCR, with far less complications.

You make a really good point. I think that's the most reasonable answer so far (not that I'm saying any other the other ones are bad answers).

To me the legion follows the old rules of the roman Emperor era, were as the NCR is all about keeping the cities the rich live in safe and flowing with money, the legion may seem a little un-civil but they all are there to survive were the NCR do whats right for only the rich sorta like in capitalism, and the legion runs like Marxism. i feel like both sides have their pros and cons but they are both fighting the same fight, question is are you going for the good of the rich? or the good of everyone?

That's like saying what ISIS is doing is justifiable because they are a different culture

Sometimes it is just nice to get a very different play through in, and for me the legion is a good way to take over the strip...very nice considering most if the time I go for a free vegas story. With caesars new regime it makes the Legion feel really awesome.

@blivit270, i don't think dragging ISIS here is a good idea, as politics and religion are prohibited.
But i see your point, and regarding to your post and the topic, i can't see myself as an extremist in any way so i can't really tell why anyone would want to join them, in the game it is ok, i did for my completionist quest, it is necessary to the game, but in the live part of it or even IRL, joining them is only for those who actually believes in supremacy. Tiranny it isnt and never will be a good thing, sure in an apocalyptic world the primal rule is survival of the fittest, the Khans and the Legion are two factions that i despite, i play sometimes friendly of the Khans for the drug trade, but the Legion... I rather kill them all on sight .I know that this IS an radical way to think, but at least i know that i wont be fighting the weak and desperate for survival, sometimes i caught my self with some conscience burden, as the people i just killed was forced to do what he did, forced to kill in the name of others. Sometimes you can think dying is always a choice when you are forced to follow an ideology, but if you still have loved ones or a reason to fight for your life, for more selfish the reason may be, die will never be an alternative, and for reasons like that i don't know why someone would willingly joing the Legion.

That did not go the way I expected it to, which was nowhere.
