One of those long-time lurkers finally leaving the safety of the shadows to say hello!
Always hated writing these things. First I never know what to write and then by the time I'm done it's a few paragraphs of nonsensical waffle, but... once more unto the breach, and all that!
In addition to being a long-time lurker, I'm also along-time modder! Or consumer of mods, really, to be precise. Getting into the idea of using mods to enchance a game back in... I wanted to say TES3. I'm 99% certain it started with Morrowind, which was probably quite exciting at the time because I
do recall with absolute certainty that the game barely ran on my desktop back then! Still more fun than playing it on the Xbox though.
For some reason Star Wars Galaxies keeps popping into my head though, but I can't recall when mods/tweaks for that first came about. The True Black mod was a must-have, and that one mod that swapped out the model of one belt for that darn nifty holster belt. That too. Anyway, a consumer of mods for a long time!
Dabbled with making them, moreso in recent years, but never anything big. Starbound, for instance. I started creating the Twi'lek race for the Star Wars mod in that, back in the day, but work and life and other excuses refused to do the polite thing and bugger off long enough for me to give it the time it deserved. A shame, because working out how to get the lekku styles and colours to play nice with the model in general was a pretty darn rewarding experience
Recently found the files from back then, too! I say recently, last year. Tried compiling them into a mod that works with the new package format, but just can't get it to not crash. Alas. Also started on a Quarian race, with a fair chunk of the spriting done for that, too. Quarian legs are a real pain to work out how to animate, and I'm dreading the day I get around to trying to make the existing armours work with those leg joints. But, (thankfully,?) same deal with the crashing when trying to get it in-game to test. Someday! Maybe. Most like.
Also a little texture tweaking in FFXIV also, now that TexTools are a thing! Again, nothing large, mostly chesthair to turn the boys of Eorzea into men. Highlanders look far, far more intimidating with a chestrug, I must say!
Anyway, yes, these days I'll tweak most games to some degree, whether it be as simple as the visual side of things, slapping Reshade on and enhancing what's already there, patching 3DS games, or seeking out some way to add Twi'lek's to whatever it is I'm playing at the time. Twi'lek's don't get enough love in games, sadly. Hell, they don't get enough love in the games they're
meant to be in. (Looking at you, The Old Republic and your headgear issues. How many years, now? For shame
)
That'll... probably do for an introduction post, methinks. Nice to meet you all!
