Part 2 of the great 2014 mumblecore movie "Creep" in wich once again, Mark Duplass returns as Josef an faces an existencial crisis when being a serial killer doesn't feel how it use to.
The first scene of the movie makes us think that Josef (he calls himself Aaron this time, but i will continue calling him Josef) is still acting under the same MO: he gets close to his potential victim, generates trust and then kills it. We also see how he looks really meh in front of the camera after doing it. On the other hand, we met Sara. She has an online show called "Encounters" in wich he looks to emphatize and bring out the weird things of the people she interviews, or in her own words: "I want to reach some other weirdos and make something special for them"
The thing is she feels dissapointed because no one seems to care about his show. Then, she contacts an unknown person on the internet who propose her to meet in a cabin deep in the woods (signs of danger? what the fuck are those lol). Sara then agrees to film Josef for a whole day for 1k and "interesting material".
And so, the movie begins the same way the first one did, but this time we can notice the differences between this movie's Josef and the Josef from the first one. Even tho Josef is still behaving like he use to, enjoying creating bond with the person who is filming him and later enjoying even more killing him/her, he is really far from being the badass Josef from the first movie.
Once they met, Josef tells her he wants to make a documental of his downfall as a serial killer. He introduces himself as a serial killer in a midlfie crisis who's lost the thrill killing use to gave him. Sara believes he is full of shit, so she convinces herself to spend the whole day with him because she thinks that someone like Josef could be that interesting someone that is gonna make her show to be very popular.
The movie is film the same way the first one was, found footage style, but unlike 90% of found footage movies that have this stupid and annoying camera movement and awful image, Creep 2 leaves acting or the relationship between the characters as the main topic, and the fact this is also a mockumentary doesn't matter at all. The emphasis is in the dialogue and the relationship the two of them develop along the movie. And this is why once again i say that "Creep 2" is not an horror movie and switches to more dramatic stuff and even comedy.
Now about the relationship between Josef and Sara, Josef introduces his real, real self to Sara in a slow paced way. He tries to scare her with creepy attitudes, but Sara doesn't care at all, wich is something Josef finds really strange, like if she wasn't afraid to die. This is why that disturbing feeling "Creep" had is no longer present in this movie. We don't care what Josef does because unlike Aaron who was creeped out all the time by him during the first movie, Sara is not and doesn't care either.

on the second half of the movie, a romantic relationship between Josef and Sara starts to show up. Josef feels he can get close to Sara, the she is different of the rest, and starts telling her stuff about his life that we would never now if it was real or not, like that he started as a serial killer when he was kidnapped by someone on the road the beat him almost to dead and wanted to bury him alive, but he managed to free himself and killed his captor. He also explains to Sara that his reason of living is to kill because that way he feels that he is taking away something of every victim. Who would thought psychopathic Josef was into spiritual stuff?
And we also dont know if the love declaration Josef told to Sara during the ending was true ("You are my muse, you inspired me") and is thanks to this that the movie generates just a little of suspense.
Creep 2 tries to unravel what is going on in the mind of a serial killer when he lost the craving of killing, but couldn't do it in a 100% way due to stuff like the relatshionship between the two main characters. I think they shouldn't have to include that, they had to keep that unconfortable relationship Josef and Aaron had on the first movie because the relationship between Josef and Sara is reciprocal, wich sucks. Only good thing was that both Josef and Sara have extremely weird personalities, wich kept the suspense going during the whole movie... and of course, that first scene!
