| How in the name of the Lord did you finish Lonesome Road and don't know who Ulysses is? Lmao
He is... You know... The guy that survived the destruction of the Divide when the Courier brought some Eyebot from California. The main antagonist of the DLC. Yeah, nothing too important. _________________ "A girl is Arya Stark of Winterfell, and I'm going home." |

| I had to replay it a bit to actually get an idea of who he was and even then I was disappointed. He's just some dude who blames you for doing something indirectly. He stalks you like an obsessive fangirl for years and then tries to kill you/set you up to be killed all while claiming he doesn't want to kill you.
I really don't see why he gets so much praise and adoration. He's a really boring character with a really confusing motive. He's loyal to the Legion after killing his people, but hates the NCR because they either intentionally killed his new people or accidentally did it. Then he hides that blame by pushing it onto you which really contradicts his hatred of the NCR. I personally dislike the character. He's just not very well written in my opinion.
Of all the DLC main characters characters, I think he's the least interesting.
He's like Darth Maul and Boba Fett. He looked and seemed cool so people overlook the obvious flaws.
Like others said, he's just.....that guy.... |

| Yeah I think he might be a bit cracked. Blaming you for doing a job of which you clearly have no knowledge of is pretty ridiculous.
That and his philosophical ramblings make him a tad tedious to deal with in my eyes, considering the whole reason he hates you is petty and unwarranted. _________________ Cursed be the ground, for our sake. | I think the whole point of his character is that he's insane. His motivations come from being driven insane by watching the Courier's (reckless?) delivery of the bomb that destroyed the Divide. He considered the Divide his home, and watching the Courier destroy it and walk away nonchalantly drove him mad, with a thirst for revenge that can only be quenched with death.
I love the writing for the character and the depth that he provides with his analysis of the past and the future of the Mojave, plus the voice acting is just top notch. _________________ It's letting go? |

| What exactly did the courier do to destroy the divide? He brought something with him? |

According to Ulysses, some time before the events of the game the courier delivered a package, which was activated remotely and triggered the nukes stored in the silos underneath Hopeville and Ashton, causing the Divide to be what you see in game _________________ It's letting go? |

| So he is just pissed because the courier indirectly did something he didn't mean to do. What a prick |

| So here's how I read Ulysses character.
First, he's an agent of Caesar. While he doesn't follow the legion unquestioningly, he sees it as a chance for the world to be reborn through conquest, and allow the legion to evolve into a new society. In his journey, he sought out other groups and cultures, as referenced in his logs when he discusses the BoS,m he wanted to find a group capable of truly restoring the world. He has come to the conclusion that Caesar is the answer.
His obsession with the Courier is crucial to this. The courier delivered a package, played such a minor role in an event that changed the face of the wasteland, at the divide (something that is very poorly described in the game itself is the fact that hopeville was a major transport point for the NCR into the Mojave), wiping an entire nation off the earth. Ulysses wants to do the same to the NCR so that the Legion can achieve victory. However his obsession goes further than that since this same Courier, by fate or chance, has found themselves at the centre of events that threaten to truly tip the balance in the war between the two sides. Depending on what faction they side with, his ideas differ, if he sides with House, he sees it as a loss for humanity, NCR is doomed to fail, independence is chaos and even a legion sided Courier does not aspire to the same ideals as he. Basically, Ulysses sees the player as his opposite, in some weird duality way.
The Courier is, after all the only other survivor of the Divide, and one of the few people Ulysses can truly hold accountable, though he doesn't blame the player. Perhaps he simply wants to make the player understand the gravity of his/her actions, and if possible, remove them, in order to prevent their actions, whether intended or purely coincidental, from ruining his ideals. _________________ Muwahahahahahahaha!!!What do you mean evil laugh!?
