| Ever since going to see Rogue One, and enjoying it at the time, I've just lost most on my joy when it comes to Star Wars. Rebels kept me somewhat interested, and the new season will probably do so again, but I still just can't immerse myself as I used to be able to in ye olden days. I'm looking forwards to TLJ, but I'm also worried it's going to dissapoint and end up killing Star Wars for me as anything but nostalgia. Some of the rumors and 'leaks' have bugged me.
In hindsight, TFA feels a little shallow and retroactively seems to undo a lot of the achievements the original cast are suppsed to have accomplished over the decades (Leia's career as a politician failed, and the Republic seems to have never really taken off properly, the Empire is back and as much a threat as ever if Starkiller was any indication, her and Hans marriage failed, he became a smuggler again, and Luke's new Jedi order is destroyed and drives him to be a hermit.) Rogue One was fun at the time, but now feels like it was all flash, with throw away characters.
I miss the days of The Clone Wars and continuing novels of long running plot threads and journies of characters, and untold stories set in the past.
Has anyone else been feeling like this?

| I understand and I feel this too. I didn't like SW7, I enjoyed but not so much Rogue One. The only SW thing that is hyping me is the New Battlefront, because of Clone Wars era nostalgia.
Nowadays, everything that existed tries to stay in our lives. Some of them make it just better than others. Now, you can see new Mad Max films, new Star Wars films, series and goodies, new Ghostbuster, new Pokemon games, everyone loves old Disney movies and would watch them again. Also, there is more and more people listening to jazz, funk, disco, old rock. People is wearing old-fashioned tee-shirts. That's a bit off topic but nostalgia is everywhere. _________________ |

| Well I was partly disappointed with the newer Star Wars titles. They're better than the prequels no doubt but Rogue One didn't fully explore it's darker tones as much as I'd like it to and TFA had the same copy and paste story from ANH with so many cringe moments it's unreal. A good example would be when Rey knows the force with no training at all. She literally pulls off a fucking Jedi mind trick. Idk, I liked RO and TFA but they fell so short and felt so bland.
I'm glad they're making more Star Wars movies, as Star Wars is great but I feel like Disney stripped Star Wars of it's soul. It could have been worse but there's always room for improvement. |

| This is because Disney doesn't know what it's doing. Neither TFA or R1 feel like Star Wars to me (I actually like the prequels better than both), and the most egregious thing is that while Lucas was a mastermind at giving you just the kind of Star Wars things you want while keeping you engaged, Disney is not remotely as good in this regard, and it's incredibly, blatantly obvious that EVERYTHING they do is for the sake of merchandising and getting you to buy more SW shit. It's so transparent and utterly corporate. Lucas certainly had his fuckups, but I think, without question, the franchise was always better under his management. Hell, even just through games alone, it was better. With Disney's deal with EA, we've gotten a crappy mobile game and two lacklustre Battlefront games. When Lucas had the franchise, amongst many others, we got the Dark Forces/Jedi Knight series, KOTOR 1 & 2, the X-Wing games, and two great Battlefront games. We're never going to get that with Disney. |
