| How much memory do we need to play FNV in optimal conditions? I have 8gb and I have Windows memory errors frequently. My game is not heavily modded yet: big mods are NMC's textures (medium) and Ojo Bueno (Performance). My rig: i7-6700k 4ghz / GTX 1060 6gb I have played FNV for a a long time but I am a little worried now! |

| Your specs should be more than adequate.
Are you using the 4GB patch and ENB? If your using Windows 10 it might also be that there's a hard coded limit on the amount of VRAM a specific program may use. It usually has mixed results but you could try enabling compatability mode on FalloutNV.exe to Windows 7 or Windows Vista and tick the run as administrator box.

| @Prosp3ro The more RAM you can allocate should be, correct me if I'm wrong 4Go, (if patched) no matter if your hardware has 32 Go, when you reach the limit due to game engine limitation, (or drivers, or/and O.S, I don't remember) BAM...your game will have strange behaviors, particularly if you run Win8-10. I'm wondering if it's the same as Skyrim concerning this problem ?

Yes, I'm using 4gb Patcher, ENB and also Windows 10. How can I enabling comparability mode with a mod manager (MO)? And how can I verify that the patch is currently working? Thanks for the help! |

| If you've got the 4GB patch working right you should have two exe files, "FalloutNV.exe" and "FalloutNV_unpatched.exe"
The mod manager doesn't matter when enabling compatibility mode. Right click on FalloutNV.exe, select properties then at the very top select the compatibility tab, select the "run this program in compatibility mode for:", then select Windows 7 or Windows Vista: gonna have to experiment a bit here. Then near the bottom of the window select "run this program as administrator. |

| @Napara I don't have "FalloutNV_unpatched.exe" but only "FalloutNVpatch.exe". I thought it was normal but when I open the task manager in game, I see 1500mb allocated to FNV and more or less 70% of the memory is used while I have 8gb of RAM... |

| I'd say to go for a re-install of the game. Throw MO in another folder and then place it back once NV is re-installed. |

| Well I think it is only a problem of memory. I have the feeling that Windows 10 uses a lot of RAM for a proper functioning of the system, and also for useless applications. Windows 7 did a better use of the memory and I had no problems with this OS. For the moment, I'm going to buy more RAM and I will tell you if finally the game works properly. |

| do you have a killernetwork installed, when yes try to load the newest driver. this should fix the high ram use from win10. when not, try do you look for other older or unsuppported drivers. (its a bug with older or unsupported drivers on win10).
had the same problem before the creators update comes out and after. now all fine, after i updated the drivers. |

| Well if you think it's a Windows 10 problem specifically, before spending any money I'd recommend to google around and see if other people are having the same issues on other sites and if you can't find a solution: post on some other forums like tomhardware they'd probably be able to help you more with this issue. |

| @Napara Thanks for your answer. I think I am going to install W7 (for older games) in dual boot with W10. I will tell you if I have better performances. |

| I used to have memory leaks, freezes, crashes, infinite loading screens like crazy. While my PC is not exactly a beast, and tweak a few things here and there to prevent this. Who knows, might help you if you're willing to sacrifice quality.
First, if you're not using the 4gb patch and New Vegas Anti Crash already, I'd suggest you get those, it's almost mandatory to run NV with those nowadays.
Now, I use Windows 10, so I had to right click my nvse.exe (Because I use Script Extender, if you don't, it's just the FalloutNV.exe found in steamapps/Common/Fallout New Vegas) and set it to run as administrator and Windows 8 compatible.
Windowed Mode V-Sync active Graphics: High Resolution: 800 x 600
If you can live with the reduced resolution, you'll hit 55/60 fps in most places, 40/50 at worst and the issues that come from the memory shortage dissappear almost completely.
I seldom get freezes after 4 hours or so, but that might be due to my PC running a 32 bit version of Win 10 tho. Hope you solve your problem, man, I know how stressful memory leaks can be.

| @ Last Cascade the games (f03 + fnv) runs fine for me. with different aspect rations and with enb and a lot of mods (most are grafic/ texture mods). no crashes or something else under win 10 with latest updates, no needs for run as admin or win8 compatible modus... (use 4gb and nvse)
when anyone has a lot of ram used in win10 than look or old drivers, and update it. that is the most reason for the high usage ram. see my other post. had over 60-70% ram in usage and after i updated the old driver (for me killernetwork driver) now its fine |

| why you ask? do you use Killer Gigabit Ethernet Controller from killernetwork or something else from them??? than the latest driver. when not, and you got a high usage ram under win 10 with the latest updates, than look for not supported or older drivers on your system |
