| I've played the game for many hours, but never once tried fiddling too much with the more advanced wiring stuff or pretty much anything from that particular DLC. The most I ever really did was basic wiring for lights and turrets as that's pretty essential. Never really touched traps though. The Contraptions DLC adds a bunch of stuff, but I don't really know the full extent to what it offers. I saw they can produce some stuff like armor and weapons, but I don't think that's worth it at all since there are only a few weapons/armors in the game and you can find them at any shop really so it's just not worth it. Then I saw one could produce food, but it doesn't add to the settlement's food count so there's really no point. I know there's an ammo press and that could be fairly useful, but surely it can't be the only worthwhile addition, right?
Other than that stuff, what worthwhile things can it offer? I want to turn a whole settlement into a factory to produce stuff, but I already have a stockpile of weapons and armor so those would just be useless. I want to have my factory produce things I can actually use. |

| It cant offer anything, thats the thing, if you wanna rely on a good workshop, try the nexus, Beth surely dunno what they are doing. this might get afew members knickers in a twist but Todd howard, suck my balls on that thing called a season pass and a game, ya dick. (Not you btw, Todd of course) |

| It adds a pillory. That's all that really needs to be said for it. |

| So there's nothing practical I can do with those manufacturing objects? That's a shame. I really wanted to build a big factory with it producing something worthwhile. Can anyone else chime in? Is it really that useless? |

| I don't really know what you expected out of it. It is just a settlement DLC after all. Settlements aren't supposed to be useful, just a gimmick for those who want to turn Fallout into The Sims Post Apocalypse. |

| I've never really bothered with it, but from what I hear it's not worth bothering with unless you have the mod that overhauls the machines. I can look it up if you want and link it here. I'm not sure if it was added by the contraptions dlc or another one, but the objects that trap like brahmin, yao guai, etc could be useful on a survival playthrough as a source of food. Build like a little pen with the cage in it and have a trap inside the pen to kill it with. Then have a remote activated door to get into the pen with. _________________ |

| @xThat1WhiteKidx If you have that mod readily up, I would appreciate a link. I'm a little disappointed. I figured there would be something remotely practical I could do with it other than make ammo. I was hoping I just wasn't being creative enough and that someone had some crazy cool idea for what it could be used for. Like redstone and command blocks in Minecraft. Most people only learn the basics, but I recently saw someone who remade the entirety of Pokemon Red. Like, you could actually play the whole game. It wasn't a re-creation of the world. Just a hell of a lot of coding. I was hoping for something to do with the DLC. |

| contraptions simply allow for an explanation of "how" items already available in the game are made. I explain it to myself as elsewhere, these machines exist and are stamping out ammo and weapons and such and are being imported to the commonwealth, now it's possible to manufacture these items locally. Is it useful? No Immersive? not for me, my real-life is steeped heavily in manufacturing and logistics Entertaining? No...even with the mods that fix this dlc...it's tedious and has me constantly asking questions of "why the fuck not?" (spoiler alert: there is not a conveyor ramp that goes "up" only "down" and while there are "elevators" there aren't ramps.)
I built a mod that allows me to print pre war money...correction I modified a mod that changes the output item to being pre-war money. Because I wanted to build a mint and I wanted to have a room full of money and making the output item caps...was proving to be an exercise in futility. Needless to say I spent more time working out the "how" than I did enjoying the finished product. _________________ |
