Hey guys! I have been playing both fallout 4 and New Vegas but I was wondering what game you guys are playing currently and why. I really like fallout 4's shooting and visuals but fallout new vegas is hands down the better rpg by miles. Since the hype of fallout 4 has died down have you guys gone back to new vegas?

Been playing a lot of TTW which is both FO3 and NV combined lately...best of both worlds. Been real bored with FO4 and haven't played it much anymore...if  and when i do i usually just do settlement builds.

Just completed another run of fallout 4. I felt kinda mind numb while playing it. I guess I'll start another playthrough in NV.

That's right Fallout New Vegas is a good game, I spent many hours on it, but Fallout 4 is way better in my opinion. Fallout 4 is new so it has much better graphics, animation .... and the idea of having large urban areas offers a new way to play with new strategy.
But, above all, it is the stability of the game that is very pleasant and "surprising".

Playing NV after a while now. Fallout: New Vegas is the best Fallout game nomatterwatchasay. It's very simple, FNV combines modern gameplay with old Fallout 2 awesome RPG elements. Speaking in a objectively way, FNV is the best Fallout game, but to like it the most or not is a total different thing.
Fallout 4 has pretty aestethic things and all that, but sucks. RPG elements, story, dialogues and a thousand things more are shit and crappy if you compare it with any other game of the franchise. I think it's only worth playing because of the mods
Also i'll like to add that Fallout 3 is not even a Fallout game imo, it's just a TES: Oblivion inside a Fallout world
Spoiler:
Did i just said that? hope FO3 fans don't disembowel me
So my top fallout games are:
Subjectively: Fallout 2 Objectively: Fallout New Vegas Drunk or high: Maybe, maaaaaaaaaaaybe FO3 or FO4

for me, Fallout New Vegas is far the best replay value than Fallout 4. Fallout 4 will force you to be Jack of all Trade no matter what kind of type of build you created, because, why? that idea of no level cap is the dumbest choice in RPG games, FO4 forced you to be demi-god type character once you unlock all Perk & Special stats, the urged to spent points that urging you to spent it, which make your choice & consequences in Fallout series doesn't matter anymore. Fallout replay value lies on it unique build & play-style of each new session of play while, FO4 only last 2 play-through(for me at least) once you already knew every ending is just the same as other lame ending, its a shame really. ..I like Power Armor concept mechanism in FO4 & the improvised gunplay but, FO4 is just...FO4 just another " action adventure shooting looting style of game " which I considered below mediocre enjoyable. its not RPG anymore to this point, you know what make a good game enjoyable when a game can provide more replay value on each time you start a new game? well, this is my subjective opinion, older classic Fallout & fallout new vegas are great way to go for it amazing replay value to try out.

I'm not going to type out essays defending every flaw 3, NV or 4 has but I think it's your decision to make. Just don't fall into the trap of thinking New Vegas or 3 has no flaws because of how much bad rep Fallout 4 gets here. It's still a decent game, albeit one that is drastically different from the previous games.
The truth is, buy Fallout 4 if you like shooters or you are new to the franchise coming in from Elder Scrolls, as Fallout 4 is pretty much Fallout's Skyrim. However, if you played the original games definitely play Fallout: New Vegas. Despite it being it's own seperate entity, many original fans believe it to be similar in style to the originals, and in truth, it is. It's probably the best RPG in the franchise, far off being the best game though. If you can get over New Vegas's terrible combat, you should also definitely play Fallout 3 as it is the forgotten hero of the franchise and the most post apocalyptic of the three. Fallout 3 has the best setting, and the best atmosphere, but as much as I hate to say it, it is far from being the best game in the franchise. But after all, it is down to opinion.

New Vegas all the way. Hell, even Fallout 1 and 2 are on par with NV.

If it's in terms of gameplay and story? -It's gotta be New Vegas i loved the songs and the dialogue.
If it's in terms of graphics? -I prefer the Fallout 4, but it doesn't suit me well since it's an unoptimized game and i only have a old pc (2013 version)
In my summary: Fallout New Vegas is a decent fallout game for it's dialogue and story, only thing that is sad, that it has a lot of cut content, some of those are great.

New Vegas.
I don't think the others are bad games, and New Vegas, even patched and modded is a very, VERY fragile little game. But it's certainly the most well rounded of the three. I've said it before, but FNV feels like more of a natural transition from F1 and 2, as I suppose was intended. I remember a Bethesda employee talking about 3 on a behind the scenes, where he mentioned that the idea of 3 was to take fallout backwards, instead of the world progressing from the original carnage of the post war era, it's gone back. Society hasn't developed, and while I love Fallout 3, when putting it into the timeline of Fallout, it doesn't feel right. FNV has a far more positive feel, while betraying a grimy and sleazy reality. Humanity is rebuilding, which builds on the legacy of the first 2 games, and while the dangers of the wasteland, the Raider clans and mutated creatures, have lessened, the old dangers of human greed are becoming far stronger. Whether it's the Legion, the Strip families, House, or the NCR, there's a real sense of power struggle in Vegas' story that is so much greater than 3 or 4's story. It's about numerous factions, some large, some small, all trying to carve out a piece of the Mojave for themselves. And the game casts you in the role of the decision maker, to decide who gets what, and how. In a sense, I'd say that FNV is the roleplayer, or the storyteller's Fallout. It's gameplay mechanics may not be the equal of Fallout 4's far smoother, more refined combat system, but it's the moments in between that combat that truly make Fallout New Vegas the game that trumps the other 2.

New vegas in terms quests and unique characters is superior to fallout 3 and new vegas. Your character has more agency than you would in f3 or fallout 4. That said in terms of just graphics or combat fallout 4 is lightyears a head of the previous games. My issue with fallout 4 though is that while its combat and graphics are a much needed improvement, hell even the world design is arguably better in a lot of ways, its quests are few and far between.

Fallout New Vegas for me. Better mod (4's mod are all mediocre imo, no offense to the authors.) Better story lines, and better characters. I still don't know why Bethesda choose to add a voice to the protagonist. it's just so dumb, especially with the animations that they have. It make the voice actor sounds overreacting as hell. The dialogue system is dumb and the storyline are just pretty "meh" also. Anyway, the mod community of FO4 are getting better so I will definitely go back to FO4 after a while.

Same here, it's a struggle to play through the main story because how boring it is. Far Harbor, I would say, has a good story line and feels like a Fallout story. When Cascadia drops though, I'll definitely return to Fallout 4.

Like much of the other users, I always end up going back to NV. Also having the Tales of Two Wasteland mod really helps since you're 2 games into one. I still really like fallout4 despite its flaws, but no matter what NV always pulls me back in. My guess for that is the downgrading/dumbing down in regards to dialogue options and skill checks really hurt the longevity/replayability of fallout 4. I'm actually playing both on-and-off and I fear that after this current playthrough of FO4, I'll be more of less down with that game because you always end up with the same-ish "character" in the end, and if it wasn't for some great DLC-tier mods out there that make it worth playing again, I'd probably have packed away F04 in its box a long time ago. But that's like just my opinion man.

The best one is easily Fallout 2. But I love New Vegas. I will probably still be playing it in 10 years

Initially, I wasn't a big fan of New Vegas... Although, goddamn, it just grew on me ! I still remember the first time I won the Battle Of Hoover Dam...
I still have mixed ideas about FO4, though. I think that most of the writing is on point, but the content of the game is just a lackluster to me. Some quest are really awesome, though ( The Silver Shroud, for example ! )

Psh, this isn't even hard. New Vegas is the second best game in the series, behind only the original.
In terms of putting the series into a list, I suppose...
Fallout Fallout: New Vegas Fallout 3 Fallout Tactics Fallout 2 Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel Fallout 4
Yes, I like BoS more than Fallout 4. It was a betrayal, but at least it had the decency to be an easily ignored one, and even it didn't make the mistake of being so incredibly contradictory to not only just Fallout, but itself.
With that said, that listing isn't in order of which games I'd prefer to PLAY. Because if it were, Fallout 4 would probably be #4, or maybe #3 on a good day, Brotherhood of Steel would be behind it, Tactics behind that, and Fallout 2 on the bottom... because wow, is Fallout 2 disgustingly unbalanced.
In my own personal headcanon, F1 and New Vegas, with many of F2's plot elements included, with it's many dumb pop culture references included, are one continuity. F3 and F4 are another continuity. The others are their own thing.

NEW VEGAS 100%! Fallout 4 was simply insulting in every way IMO.
This video sums up my feelings about FO4 to a tea. If it weren't for extremely talented modders, and free mods I would have given up on Bethesda games years ago.
