Subject: Stars And Stripes Review: Blade Runner (1982) Mon Aug 07, 2017 8:14 am
Greetings lads and gents.
The "Stars And Stripes" is my in-forum project which will show my opinion about all films, not only horrors. I will in my reviews take some subjects like: genre; plot; setting; and for last meaning in present time.
Today i will talk about one of my favourite films which is great in our time. This is "Blade Runner" by Ridley Scott in 1982.
Genre The genre of film is like fantastic and sci-fi, which shows future in 2000s. The "Blade Runner" is first film which showing to us the cyberpunk reality. It could compared like noir film, which can be compared. The characters of genre are done great, which makes people to empathize for them.
Plot In Los Angeles in November 2019, the ex-police officer Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), are detained by officer which brought him to his former supervisor, Bryant. Deckard are "Blade Runner" which work are tracking down the replicants and "retire" them. He are being informed that the four replicants are come to Earth illegally.
Setting The aura of paranoia are suffucing the film: police are seem omnipresent, vehicle and warning lights probes into builidings. It looks like some futuristic, some perfect, which could be a possible human future. This are prefer to be called - "cyberpunk". We also see the replicants - the bioloengineered beings which looks like human and which the Blade Runners are "retire" them.
Meaning The film shows us that the in future people need to be more good with others, not only with themselves. The replicants are no need to be "retired", they can live own lives, do great things. But there were always be people which want to destroy the good deed. The protagonist of film is showed like a good detective, and good cop with good karma. He initially refuses when Bryant are command him to "retire" the four replicants, but he reluctantly do as Bryant says. I can recommend this film for anybody who like futuristic film and cyberpunk itself.
