| Hey everyone, I have the weirdest problem with FNV. I can load up a save and the game will be completely fine for about a minute, then some sounds (like gun shots, pipboy) will cut out. If I fast travel somewhere or even go through any loading screen at all, my game goes absolutely bonkers and all the textures get absolutely screwed up. By this point I can't even press escape to get to the menu because not even that works, I have to CTRL+ALT+DEL to get out. I have no idea what in the world happened. I haven't installed a mod recently that would do this to the textures and I have disabled so many mods to try and troubleshoot but I've had no luck. It all started to happen as soon as I finished Old World Blues and came back to the Mojave. However, it doesn't do this in DLC areas like the Divide, Zion, Big Mountain or the Sierra Madre. Anyone have an idea what's causing this/how to fix it? - Fast traveled to Goodsprings and...:

| Have you checked your load order for any anomaly's? Sometime's mod's put an esp that is not needed into your load order and completely ruin's your game. If not that than try trivial things like turn archive invalidation on and off. If that doesn't work try backing up your game on your hard drive and reinstall new vegas. Make sure if you do reinstall to go into My Documents > My Games > Fallout NV > Saves and copy those saves and put them into a new folder just to be safe! Hopefully your troubles will go away I had a similar issue and had to solve it myself. Best of luck to ya! |

| I've experimented a little bit, moved around my load order, turned archive invalidation on and off, disabled a few esp's and it has been less frequent. It still occurs however, I'm afraid the best way to fix it would be to bite the bullet and re-install... Which I really, really don't want to do I'll try playing around with a few more options. _________________ |

| Generally speaking the purple mesh issue you're seeing is caused by not having enough video memory for the game. It was a big issue with Skyrim for certain users, common enough that Bethesda actually commented on it. That would also match up with your symptoms, that it occurs once you travel somewhere/change location, as that will only load more stuff into memory.
So most likely your video card is having some kind of issue. I'd suggest fully uninstalling and then reinstalling it's drivers, and seeing if that fixes it. If not, most likely it is either not powerful enough for the game (which seems pretty unlikely) or has a defect/hardware issue (is dying).
(of course there is always the chance that some mod has royally borked your installation of the game) |

| That looks like a royally broken game/mod, when hardware fails esp your gpu, you start getting crazy horizontal vertical or horizontal lines, and things just don't work at all in general in your os. If by some crazy chance it is hardware but very unlikely uninstall all your mods... and all things related to them and the game. Then I would suggest defragging your hard drive, then reinstall New Vegas and see if it runs fine vanilla with no mods at all. If it does then it was a broken game or mod, if it does not then more than likely its hardware related. _________________ AAA Environment Artist & Modeler, US Army Combat Vet, Full Sail University Alumni |

| The giant red errors are the sign of a missing or broken mesh. If you can get into console, walk up to one, open console and click on error til you find one that is linked to a mod, that'd probably help you track down the problematic mod. Look at the first two letters in the object's ID, then track what that object is linked to in your load order via FOMM or NMM. From the looks of it at least one of those missing meshes seems to be tied to a hair or face mod.
Post your load order? Are you using Ojo Bueno or any other texture mod? |

I have tried this, but unfortunately no dice I would doubt it's defective, I've had this card just barely a year and I have no problems in any other game. @likeitsillegal I am using both NMC Textures and Ojo Bueno. Included load order below. - My Load Order (WARNING: LOTS OF MODS):
Forgive me if it's a mess, I don't exactly know how the load order works.

| You have exceeded the game's unmarked mod limit. Are you talking about meshes and textures disappearing mid-game? And fast traveling causes crashes? If so, I've had that problem. How many plugins have you installed? I had to reinstall my game, and after the painful process I've installed every single mod with package manager Edit: If all or atleast most of the plugins in your load order are active that's what causes it. You should uninstall some mods. Another edit: I think this happens when you get near 120 active plugins. That's what I was told back in the day. |

| Yeah meshes and textures go missing at random points, but not all the time. Had no idea there was an unmarked mod limit, I'll try disabling plugins/uninstall some mods and see if that resolves the problem. _________________ |

| The unmarked mod limit is about 140, though you can bypass it if you know how to create Merged or Bashed Patches. I'd seriously recommend completely uninstalling Ojo Bueno and NMC and to go ahead and try playing the game, though considering the issue isn't constant I'm guessing this could be a problem with the number of mods or your load order. For starts, your .esm load order is completely out of place. The DLC should be ordered by release; FalloutNV.esm, Dead Money.esm, HonestHearts.esm, Old World Blues.esm and Lonesome Road.esm.
I'd recommend running BOSS or LOOT to auto-correct your load order, then tweak the changes manually if you notice anything is blatantly out of place. I'd also seriously recommend looking up how to merge things like UHNV's .esps into a single file as it will hlep immensely with load order bloat.

| I've installed LOOT and organized my load order, as well as uninstalled quite a few mods I didn't need. It seemed to have resolved the problem! Thank you so much for your help, +1 to you! _________________ |
