| Star Wars isn't known for it's horror but it does have some horror themed stories like Death Troopers (Zombie Stormtroopers) or Rakghouls (Zombie like things), but does horror really fit into the Star Wars universe? I want your opinions. In my opinion I think it fits but not totally, like I said Star Wars ins't known for it's horror and Star Wars is supposed to be Family Friendly, and stuff like Death Troopers don't really fit into the movies. On the other side, I like it, I like spooky things, but not too much, plus horror stuff fits in pretty well is some places in the Star Wars universe. _________________ |

| Well. Star wars was orginally supposed to be darker. For example The orginally ending to return of the jedi was luke killing vader and putting vader's helmet on then saying "I am vader" with the rebel fleet destroyed. Now zombies in star wars is prefect because Sith alchemy can do so much like palpatine saying to anakin "Plagueis was so powerful he could create life" And The empire was so big and powerful of course something like black wing (death troopers) would be created _________________ No matter how creative it sounds. | I love horror and In all honesty, I think it could work in mostly everything if done right. It absolutely has its place in something as huge as the Star Wars universe. The horror, violence, and darker themes within Star Wars have had a much less suppressed appearance within most of the Star Wars Novels which I really loved. I really hope that we will one day get an R rated Star Wars film or series. |

| I think so. Death Troopers was a really great book. Done right as a side story like Rogue One I could see some darker more Horror themed movies done. Could you imagine a Star Wars/Aliens cross over movie? It would be scary awesome! Or even a Jedi/Sith VS Predator would be pretty bad ass. But yes Horror does work in Star Wars. _________________ |

| It's a yes and no thing really, it shouldn't be horror based in general but it does have some "horror" elements in franchise that brought in perfectly comes out great. I haven't ready Death Troopers myself but there are two instances I know of that gave a "disturbing and creepy feeling"
Instance one, which is canon based horror in a sense. The episodes "Legacy of Terror" and "Brain Invaders" of the Clone Wars series gave us the brain worms. Which could posses their hosts and turn them into Geonosian zombies.
Instance two non canon: Republic Commando Prosecutor campaign: You have to investigate an abandoned ship that has lost contact not shortly after the Clone Wars began. Not knowing what to expect and being separated from your fellow Squad mates gave the abandoned ship a very eerie atmosphere. |

| Yes, it does, ever think of how rebel scums feel whenever they see Darth Vader? yeah, you can feel the horror in them.
probably a star wars themed horror movie would work where a rebel soldier is trying to survive in a ship and he is chased by Darth Vader. _________________ In this shaken, twisted world, I gradually become transparent, unable to be seen. Please don't bother looking for me; don't stare at me..

| Horror? Hmmm...no. When I think horror I think Friday the 13th, Halloween, Sesame Street. The current movie offerings don't allow for much of a suspense or "darkness" Now an origin story or if any were told from one point of view...it may allow for more of that undertone you're eluding to.
Although take any movie and re-score the music...and you can drastically change the tone of the entire film _________________ |

| Funny you posted this... I've been working on a horror quest for my Two Suns mod. I won't be giving any details but I got my fingers crossed that it'll work out and spook a few people . If Dead Space can do it so can star wars that's the idea behind it anyway. To me nothing can come close to the amount of scary, as finding an abandoned ship with everyone on board dead with no signs of a struggle.

| Star Wars is essentially pulp, so any type of story can be made to fit the universe, since it's very flexible. Clone Wars series (both versions even) did several stories that had a horror elements in them and the Vader scene in Rogue One (although that one was too fanservicey) are good examples. |

| Woaw, that is a really big up Someone remember the Prosecutor mission in Republic Commando ? The first part was creepy, so I think horror can fit with Star Wars, but not horror as gore bad films, a more psycologic horror. _________________ |

| I dunno, Star Wars is a fairy-tale in space, basically space-wizards doing battle with magic swords. Darker themes and content can work (Jabba's Palace and the Rancor anyone?) but an out-and-out horror story wouldn't sit well tonally with Star Wars's sci-fi adventure style.
If you want a Star Wars "horror movie" just watch Alien. _________________ "It's 106 miles to Arroyo, we've got a full fusion cell, half a pack of RadAway, it's midnight, and I'm wearing a 50 year old Vault 13 jumpsuit. Let's hit it." |

| I disagree @"Visible Earth" , Star Wars doesn't have to just be about magical space-samurai; Rogue One proved that really well. Independent stories told in the same universe, with the backdrop of Star Wars as a framework can build off into new ideas.
The problem lies in the original fanbase, who think that the themes of the Original Trilogy are the only acceptable Star Wars material. The genre of space-fantasy/adventure is everything they grew up with, and it really shows with how disdainfully the Prequel Trilogy (and it's involving media content) and, to a lesser extreme, Rogue One, are treated.
The Prequels are really undefendable in most aspects, but a lot of the content created after using the same era/characters have been shunned by OT fans, simply because of the stigma; regardless of quality. Rogue One however, as a war movie, demonstrated that different genres can coexist within the Star Wars Universe.
They would simply have to handle it very, VERY carefully. Rogue One's characterization and reshoot issues really hurt the film, but if that wasn't an issue; then it probably would have been the best movie of 2016, in my opinion. The easiest Star Wars horror concept I can think of would have to be the Death Trooper novel from 2008. They would have to change a lot of things to account for the new canon; but they could possibly make it work. It all depends on production and performance really. |

| "family friendly" is not really true at all disney just plastered that on when they bought lucasfilms. Honestly in reality star wars was never kid friendly as kids we all just ended up curious and parents let us watch it. Thats when it came to be a family thing but only to us lucas did what he wanted. So horror is well usable and appropriate even the clone wars show had zombie clones and republic commando had a ghost ship so i think its a good idea. (sorry not trying to be rude about first part just leveling as an old star wars geek) _________________ "Though wolves are always among us we all walk as them so lets all howl together for no wolf wants to howl alone."

| Horror doesn't really work at all with star wars. It's more of an action sci-fi rather than a Sci-Fi horror. Personally I think horror wouldn't fit in at all with Star wars. |

This comment brings Event Horizon to mind https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Event_Horizon_(film) Which could also have worked in a Star Wars setting with characters tweaked a little. _________________ |

| To me, I think it does work, but should only be done it small doses. Also as A side note to everyone who have read Death Troopers, look into Red Harvest. I have only just started it myself but from my understanding it is a prequel to Death Troopers and is meant to give you the back story of the Black Wing Virus. |

| Yes, but in small doses. The extended universe of Star Wars shows that horror elements can be sewn in perfectly as long as it is executed well. Darth Nihilus and Abeloth are literal incarnations of H.P Lovecraft, but they feel so believable in the Star Wars universe. Horror can fit into anything type of fictional universe as long as it is executed right and isn’t over the top corny. Yes, Star Wars may be Sci-Fi Fantasy, but other Sci-Fi Fantasy universes have horror elements included in them, too, very well I may add. _________________ Flickr | STEAM | NEXUS <--- Where you can connect with me |

| @Luke Priefer the vong wasn't horror, not sure where you got that idea that the vong was horror, the only book in the star wars universe that was horror was a book called death troopers, were somehow the stormtroopers became zombie like creatures. thats what the initial post is about, this book and does the horror genre fit into star wars. here's a wiki lin about the death troopers book : http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Death_Troopers oh i also forgot to mention it had a prequel book written as well, called red harvest, here's a wiki link to that as well : http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Red_Harvest_(novel) |

| I dunno about you guys but near the end of Rogue One where Vader is in that pitch black hallway, the sounds of his breathing giving away his presence as he slowly creeps to and bathes the narrow hall in a sea of glowing red with a snapping hiss as he activates his red lightsaber... and then proceeds to mow down Rebels left and right, throw them about like ragdolls with the Force and deflect their own blaster fire back at them.
At the end of it only one man makes it back to the Tantive IV alive with the Death Star plans. To me that was pretty scary, not your typical Halloween horror special by any means, but just imagine being in the boots of a Rebel soldier and THAT is coming your way.
The Sith have it in them to be told in a horror-esque narrative. An example used can be the creatures they've created through Sith Alchemy. A setting of, say, a Republic ship. These Sith-created specimens are smuggled aboard cargo bay and let loose to ravage the crew. It'd be like some Alien type shit.
