| Hey guys, Just sharing a small tip on something i figured out awhile ago. I'm not sure if it's well known or not but here goes: When prompted to enter the password to get admin access, try randomly any of the options but stop when you have 1 attempt left, Click the Red Power button. (off switch) Then simply try again! --------------- Thanks to Noodles here's an extra Tip/Exploit This exploit for double experience points works in either game for terminals that control safes, First off hack the terminal, then 'red button' out of the interface without unlocking the safe. And lastly use your lockpicks on the safe to open it to gain double the XP than you would regularly
NOTE: THESE TIPS ARE BEST USED IN NON CONSOLE COMMAND PLAYTHROUGHS
Hope this helps some of you in the future =) Cheers.

| Wow I feel like an idiot for not knowing this. But great post! I absolutely abhor the hacking game, though its sometimes one heck of a mind game. _________________ |

| There is another way also, by using this mod http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/34829/? what this mod does is that while hacking it shows just the corrrect option and like in vanilla game you still need skill points for hacking terminals. |

But that is cheating this is was put into the game for a reason i assume because it says "System Security Reset" after you do it. |

| Well, in FO3 this is very effective but in FONV seems developers notice this, players must wait until security system off(about few seconds) then we can re-hack again. |

| I am actually using a different but almost the same method as you.
Example: Before I see a locked terminal in front of me, I press my F5 button to quicksave my progress and starting to use/hack the terminal. Therefor you can attempt 4 times instead 3 times. If I fail and the terminal gets locked, I press my F9 key to quickload my previous progress (before the hack), and attempt to hack again, over and over again till I unlocked the terminal. |

That's a decent idea you have there mate, but i assume it would take alot longer thanks for sharing. |

| Yep used to always use this method, but lately I've had no patience and inevitably just use commands. Back when I only had the console version I actually hacked stuff but now I can't stand it. |

| Yeah, always used this in FO3 since I was never good at those terminals. In FO:NV however, I used the Faster Terminal Text mod since the security system reset was a pain. _________________ Be My Friend! Earn ACHIEVEMENTS! |

| For FO3, I use the 3 tries and then shut down the terminal. I also have had good luck with picking the words that have asterisks or hashmarks on each side of the word. If your cursor is in the area where the hack choices are, the correct word is usually opposite the cursor in the other column. That is correct about 50% of the time. And of course, the terminal gives you good hints with the number of correct letters which are usually grouped together. I shut down very hard terminals less than 20% of the time so I can try again with the above methods. just my Opinion!!!! Cheers!!! V/R MistTiger |

| This is just about the same as lockpicking, when you're picking a hard lock and your Bobbypin is about to break, just close the lock picking menu and then go back in again. Do it over and over untill you unlocked it. Just using one bobbypin! |

| To be honest I have never got a success from hacking a terminal. It's more of a guess and check rather than know the facts. I've played the games for years and I haven't got one guess right, but looking at this tip has literally opened up a new world. Thanks. |

| I do it kinda different. When I see a terminal, I hit my "~" key and then I click on the terminal to get the ID. When I get the terminal's ID I simply type "unlock" and then boom it's unlock. It's just like magic. |

This tip is best for non console command/Cheating or console playthroughs, But yes i am aware of that command it's awesome _________________ - My Achievements:

| I usually have pretty good luck hacking terminals...for some reason I can usually figure out which letters are the right ones and get it on the third try at the latest. Though sometimes it throws me for a loop....and I just unlock it in the console... |
