| Is there any interesting game modes you guys have come up with over years of playing fallout, and mixing it up. For the record I am referring to playthrough's like where you dont kill anyone, or only use energy weapons, etc. However, I am wondering if there are any that, like me, you yourself have come up with? Heres is on method of playthroug I have come up with. No name yet, but its mostly about inventory and limiting your advantage against opponents. Dead Money helped me come up with it. - One of my play through plans:
Have the following in your inventory at all times: 1.One Pistol 2.One Rifle 3.One Melee (A rocket launcher takes up both melee and rifle) 4.10 Grenades altogether 5.Stimpacks up to 30 6. foodstuffs and drugs take one stimpack slot for each pick up you have. 7. Doctors bag take up two slots and flora does not take up any space, but medicine does. 8. Ammo doesnt count. But you can only carry the ammo of the weapons you have. 9. Companions also must follow these rules(So no giving them a bunch of weapons or ammo to carry for you) (Hardcore mode makes this really challenging) 10. Constraints: Weapons that require two hands hold two spaces on the list, with the exception of miniguns. Miniguns hold all weapon slots, because their just so damn big. 11. Armor is a messy one. Your better to carry just one piece with you at all times but if you must follow the rules: Power armor takes up all the space for your armor. Combat armor allows you to carry a suit or some article of clothing with you. Metal armor allows the same as combat. Headgear has muliple slots. Its really the only one you can manipulate (this is mostly due to glasses, and hats. But you cant carry 50 helmets at ones. One piece of head gear per area (so one pair of glasses, and one hat/helmet, one mouth and one earing options.
So yeah, do you guys have any specific playthrough modes you do for fun, or as a challenge? |

| I remember trying a humorous playthrough in which I could only use my fists or unarmed weapons. The Fist of Righteous Justice, though quite silly looking, was not a very endurant man, dying at the hands (or pool cues I suppose) of many fiends and raiders. Mind you, this was on my Xbox before I got a half decent PC and the best I had were the Golden Boxing gloves in the Tops. Turns out firearms are more beneficial in combat in every conceivable way over boxing gloves, go figure.
Other than that, I started a DUST hardcore playthrough that I still have yet to finish, making it as difficult as possible while still making it conceivably survivable. It was rough going at first, but I'm quite satisfied with how far I managed to travel and survive. _________________ |

| Sticks'n'Stones playthrough. Your only methods of killing are through the use of melee weapons or thrown explosives, upper limit of 20 explosives on your person, upper limit of 3-5 melee/unarmed weapons depending on their size and weight. You can pick up guns and such, but only to sell or store, no killing with them.
It encourages approaches to combat you wouldn't normally consider as a gun-user and makes things interesting to say the least. _________________ "They asked me how well I understood theoretical physics. I said I had a theoretical degree in physics. They said welcome aboard."

| The Sleeper Agent playthrough.
You appear harmless, wearing the most ridiculous clothes, having no scars, small body, etc. But you have max strength and carry around heavy damage dealing weapons. |

| The Justice Itself Playthrought it aways my main and favorite. Basiccy you look like an innocent law bringer what they dont know is that................you're a cannibal! YES! You are a sexy cannibal with a long red hair and a busy red beard who has full Perception and Endurance along with some Intelligence and Luck. Also its kinda of a Judge Dredd style but instead of pistol I use a shotgun and a pistol and I eat people to regain my health in battle. |

| Good grief. Can you imagine a play through without harming anyone in Fallout? That would be rough. I don't think I could endure much of that in this game. The melee only option could be interesting, but also would require some patience and skill no doubt.
I'm looking forward to a alternate start option in the future. I think I've seen one or two so far, but reading the posts for them from the users there seemed to be issues. I like taking on new roles, but I tend to not challenge myself too much. Maybe one day.
At least FO4 has a pretty decent arsenal for melee weapons that you are able to mod. _________________ |

| I suppose I should name mine something like "The limitor" or something (As it limits everything you carry) Some of these are very interesting and sound like fun. I will give them a go in the future. For now here are some more playthroughs I have done - 1. The Memory wipe:
A fun one is the Reprogrammed playthrough (this works really well with ttw) basically your a robot and you remember all of these events that occured in Dc as if it were your own. So for the first half of the game, you can play up the bravado and all that, and just after you get to NV and are double crossed by benny you realise your a robot (this is where you should change your race to something that resembles a robot). Now your charisma and luck takes a plummet and your strenght hits the top as does your endurance. As you try to discover who the hell you are, and whether you should even bother helping these meat bags anymore.
- 2. The Masked Hero:
Or the masked hero playthrough. Sounds exactly as it is. Come up with a costume superhero/villian, and power through the wastelands picking the most whacky or fun dialogue options while in a super suit. Pick your powers as well. Are you a combat heavy hero like batman, or a fire shooter like Human Torch.(whose ability comes in the form of the marvel costume mod.) Just remember that staying in character vital, dont go changing from having no powers to having all the powers. Pick your hero type of choice, be it sneaky and hard hitting (smoke and flashbang grenades with melee and unarmed) to the charismatic power user, to the sociopathic gun user (Comedian referece) Hell if you want to have some real fun, stay in character as either your secret identity(extra points the more distant he is from the hero. Plus glasses always help for some reason) or your hero identity. Being shot in the head has never been so much fun. (to do this, I recommend any collection of mask mods, and the f03 cape mod.) Be their hero, Be their angel, or be none of it. You dont owe these people a damn thing.
- 3. The Protective gaurdian:
The Protective Gaurdian playthrough is where I play as either a robot, or a supermutant. Basically, You are to protect a child companion of your choice. Or all of them if you like. The catch, You can never let them out of your sight. These kids cannot be told to wait at the lucky 38 or even in your house. Because their kids! They also are not allowed guns of any kind. (same reason)However you can use as much weapons as you like, as long as their your priority. Thats right your only protection is a bunch of toddlers with their fists.
- 4. The Tribal:
The Tribal playthrough. NO ENERGY WEAPONS. Biggest rule. Also low intellect and Charisma (we are talking under 5) but high speed and perception. no armor that is outside of the tribal style. So you lack protection and intellect, and energy weapons. Also keep things as low tech as possible. Only live off the land as you should, and only use hand made remedys. Your tribe can be home made, or even lore friendly, but if you are a white leg and go zion...your joining the white legs, regardless. Sorry to say.
- 5. The Lost Knight:
A lost Knight playthrough is basically time travel and magic. You are not to use guns(unless their crossbows), or grenades. Its mostly a melee playthrough in a set of armor. You can use some mods on the nexus that let you use magic or give you super powers, and thats fair. But basically you are a knight walking through the wastes in your heavy suit of armor (once again no power armor in this run) and must only use blades and bluntes. Hell, staying in character half the time is fun in this one. Similar to that of the superhero run through, you pic the person you are and have fun.
So remember guys, keep up with sending in those unique playthroughs. Regardless if their difficult or just good fun. |

| For my play I limit my advantage on awareness, as well as using mods that limit resources and make combat more difficult. I tend to play with out the HUD so that I have no warnings of an enemy presence until their pretty much slinging lead towards me. I also like to stake out an area before attacking, I focus on placements and if there is something I missed that causes things to go south then I most likely leave wishing I had just nuked the place, I like a challenge _________________ |

| So heres a couple more ideas for unique forms of Playthroughs: The Bounty Hunter - Spoiler:
This works really well with the NVB series(obviously) but carrys a few rules with it. Every weapon is fair game here, so your not limited there. What you are limited in is your actions. That is to say, every action you take has to benefit you alone be it financially or in getting your target. So you cannot be the roaming Saint of the wasteland, unless your getting paid to do so. This also limits your companions as well. Your looking out for number one here, and with the exception of Deadmoney, should only be concerned with yourself. This means, yes, Cass has to be turned into the Van Graffs. So your only job is to get paid and revenge, remember you are all you got in this. So be as big a dick as you like as long as your getting paid who the hell cares.
The Brent Worthington - Spoiler:
In this playthrough you need to have small frame as one of your traits, and then pick between one of the following traits : Good natured - Your not going to be using a lot of guns in this play so this helps out. Claustraphobia - Just to give you a fighting chance Four eyes - Your a wimpy kid in this, so nerd it up. After picking one of these your on your way to avoiding combat situations at all times. Your a lover not a fighter, and to be honest your not even much of a lover. In this playthrough your out to be as pathetic as possible. Why you ask? Because its challenging as hell not to carry any weapons and run like hell at the sight of combat. Your more of a charmer than a gun fighter. It is very helpful to a Buddy along with you in this. Maybe a scotsmen?
The Oceans NV - Spoiler:
This is based on the Casino Hiests mod. What you need is a team, and a plan to rob every casino blind and run Vegas by the end of this game. Once you have robbed every bank and casino in New Vegas, betray your freinds or dont. Just remember to take over the city of New Vegas and live comfortably in your empire.
The Vampire - Spoiler:
This is rather obvious, but still a hard playthrough. What you want is to only travel at night and drink the blood of anyone you deem a good meal. Cannibal perk is needed for this, and as a creature of the night you must remember that these people are sheep to you. Your a charming, powerful, and intelligent being, but you cant stand the sun(Unless your a daywalker). Use companions as your spare blood, embrace your dark side and enjoy your time as a blood sucking monster. Just remember some motherfuckers always try to ice skate up hill.

| @ZombieRedNeck Stop, you're pumping out too many good ideas too fast! That aside, I've thought about the Masked Hero build, and it was gonna be a Captain Cosmos build in NV, the space suit in New Vegas with an energy weapon or That Gun. I've done a semi-hero build being a weird mix of the Ant-Agonizer and the Mechanist, reason being is that I would wear the suit of the Ant-Agonizer but my regular identity would be a mechanic. I'm currently doing a Tribal build with my legion character and not having Boone with an unarmed character that doesn't take chems (including stimpaks/ Rad-x/ Rad-Away) is hard, who would've figured. But Visiting Zion with a character like that, you realize how little dialogue there is in the way of fleshing out your character as a "Tribal". I thank you for the amazing idea of "The Protective Guardian", I've never thought of that and it seems like an awesome build. |

| @gumgumsauce Thanks for your kind words. Yeah the Protective Guardian can be a lot of fun. With the diversity of children companion mods you can go anywhere from the Concerned Droid with Jocelyn, or The concerned judgemental Supermutant with Alex Bradley. It can be challenging but so much fun. As for the tribal playthrough, their always difficult to do at first can be so satisfying when you get into the groove of things. |

| My preferred playthrough style is like this.
-4-6 handguns. I know you may be thinking that's ridiculous. Each handgun fits into each handgun ammo type like 10mm, 9mm, .22, .357, and the two extra are .45 and 1.27. The two extra are if I feel like it. I like pistols so I like to have a diverse selection at any given time. The 9mm is my main go-to gun since ammo is very common. 10mm is the fallback gun since ammo is a little less common than 9mm. .357 is one of the last resort guns. It's not terribly strong, but I usually manage to find decent quantities of ammo for it so if I run out of the first two, I likely have enough to finish the job and get somewhere safe. My .22 gun is my absolute last resort. Ammo is somewhat rare at later levels, but it can still be found and if you bump into a merchant, they almost always sell significant amounts for dirt cheap. Then there is my 1.27 which is mygun to pull out if the enemy/enemies has a high amount of health. I don't carry much ammo for it so it's not used much to conserve ammo.
-1-2 shotguns. Usually, I'd just carry a 12g shotgun, but if I'm in a particularly dangerous area, I'll grab a 20g.
-1 sniper. They all tend to use the same ammo so no need to carry more than one.
-1 5.56 rifle(semi-auto or fully auto). This is my high combat gun. If I'm outnumbered, I whip this out and just unload.
-1 customized 1-hit kill revolver. Very powerful. Only an alpha deathclaw can survive a single shot. The down side is that the ammo it takes is only regular mini-nukes(not GRA ones) so ammo is fairly scarce. With so little ammo, I can't use it whenever I want. I save it for those times where I'm in a pinch and about to die from a tough enemy.
-Little ammo. Because I carry so many guns that use different ammo types, I don't have to worry about carrying too much ammo. Pretty much every enemy I kill will drop ammo for at least one of my guns so I rarely run out. The only ammo I have to regularly stock is 5.56 and .308 as not every enemy drops them and if they do, they don't drop much. I keep roughly 200-300 5.56 rounds and maybe 30-40 sniper rounds.
-I tend to save packaged foods for storage at home while I rely on wasteland food and stimpacks for hunger and health.
-I activate a set of mods to make ghouls both walk slow and spawn just about everywhere so in a sense, it's a zombie apocalypse. That coupled with no fast travelling and Neveda Skies, makes night-time dangerous so I avoid it as much as possible and will sleep indoors. |

| My personal Hotline Miami Playthrough is my favourite. It works best with mods to capture that psychopath feel. It's challenging, but incredibly fun:
- Once a firearm runs out of ammo, drop it or sell it. - Once you have used a firearm in a quest. Drop it or sell it. - Favour automatic weapons and melee weapons. - Carry a lot of melee weapons. - (Optional) Take intimidating presence as a perk. - Don't use any speech or charisma perks. If you want intimidating presence, only use that perk. - Only use casual clothing. No Power Armour or Combat Armour. - (Optional) Wear a mask to feel like a badass. - (Optional) Take chems. - KILL A LOT OF PEOPLE (REQUIRED) |

| @Corvo That actually sounds like a lot of fun. The Hotline Miami playthrough. Seeing as a mod was released recently giving the russian mob suit it would be a nice playthrough to do now. |
