| I don't know why, but when my TTW installer finished this morning it told me that my fallout 3 was a pirate version or somthing like that....i dont know why it said that because i bought it yesterday $20 GOTY edition and i bought FO3 for that specific purpose. _________________

| I don't use TTW, but I've heard of a lot of people having issues with installing it (which is part of the reason I don't use it, in fact) like this one.
There are people here though that are able to run it, so maybe one of them can help when they see this topic. |

| I think it is best if you ask help at their forum. Otherwise, read everything that has to do with the FAQ, and the download page. There are certain libraries that the installer requires to function, if you don't have the specified versions, then it won't work correctly. |

| I just erased my TTW 2.4 for upgrading to 2.6, I remember having a similar issue last time I installed it but eventually got it working by manually doing stuff, however it was like 6 month ago, I can't remember what I did exactly. Installing NV & FO3 goty right now, I'll let you know if I run into similar problems btw don't worry about that "pirated version" stuff, it is big fat BS. Actually a lot of people owning the game seem to have issues with their fallout3.esm during install (me included ), while many have claimed they installed it one shot without trouble with totally ripped versions of both NV & FO3....now that's what I call a mod vigilantism Fail,it's causing more trouble than good things, and it's actually what's keeping most people from playing it imho.

| Well, according to what I remember the installer has a history of being complicated. At one point, I think the authors themselves said it was the biggest issue.

I'm guessing downloading the C++ redists and the .NET framework stuff didn't work. Well I'm out of ideas if that didn't work.
Best thing to do is to ask for help over at the TTW forums, they know more than anyone around here or anywhere else.

| I agree with ArgusMercenary about checking in at the TTW forums for a solution.
I did the same thing you did about a week ago, I bought the STEAM GOTY version, since my old copy of FO3 was badly scratched up and wouldn't install anymore. I extracted everything in the zip file for TTW to my desktop, then ran the installer .exe as an administrator with a path destination to c:/TTW. It ran for about 30 minutes, and when it was done I copy/pasted the contents of that file into my FNV data folder.
Couple of things to check off the top of my head...
1) did you extract the contents of the TTW zip to your desktop before running the installer? Sometimes running installer .exe from a zip file can bugger up the works...
2) did you run the installer as an admin?
3) is the file path for the .exe to a new loaction, or did you set it up to go directly to FNV data folder?
4) as ArgusMercenary pointed out, is the C++ Redist/NET Framework stuff that is required for the installer up to date/correct version?
The installation is so very specific that even the slightest deviation or 'common sense' shortcut that you think should work ends up borking up everything. I'd try reinstalling it again with the install instructions page open and do it like a checklist...run it by the numbers, so to speak.
...and if it's still wonky, you can always post over on their forum.
Good luck buddy, I hope you can get this sorted out!

| No problem. I was able to get it to work without too much trouble, but like so many other mods with complex installations things can go terribly wrong if you don't read all the FAQs and install instructions. I probably spent a couple of days just going over the bug reports, FAQs and some forum posts just so I knew what to anticipate if I borked something up and how to fix it.
Just a heads up, when you get it working don't just d/l and install old/new FO3 mods into your game. There is a conversion process for FO3 mods to work with TTW, the FO3 masters added are not the originals...they're edited in the install process (which is why it takes so long for the install to finish). Using unconverted FO3 mods in a TTW/FNV install will most likely cause your came to crash. FNV mods work just fine, as they didn't make any changes to the .esm files for it. Here's a link to how to convert FO3 mods to work with TTW/FNV: http://taleoftwowastelands.com/content/ttw-20-out
Good luck and have fun!

| Awesome! Glad you got it sorted out. Just be sure to start a new game, old saves for NV might not work correctly and do not use a FO3 save...there are too many changes to the .esm files for them to function properly with TTW.

| TTW vet user here. Warning you ahead of time, TTW basically adds FO3, but a modified version dedicated to FNV's engine. They make it easy for FNV mods to cover FO3 and FO3 mods to be converted to FNV. First things first. They don't tell you this in the requirements, but your FO3 and FNV must be vanilla virgins; meaning no mods have deflowered the two. Here's some quotes from the actual site itself about issues they listed, which can be found in the requirements section. https://taleoftwowastelands.com/content/alpha-download "Pirated games WILL NOT WORK with TTW. Yes, really." Yep. "Make sure you have none of your Fallout 3 files set to “read only” in their properties." Yes. "You must NOT be using Mission Mojave Ultimate Edition(MMUE) or New Vegas Error Corrections(NVEC). At the moment they are completely incompatible with TTW." The TTW team and it's supporters constantly work on improving FO3's and FONV's vanilla bugs, improving the performance at the same time in areas. Use this instead https://taleoftwowastelands.com/content/ttw-fixes-official-bugfix-pack-ttw I know the newest TTW installer works because I followed the exact instructions and my own on more than one device; a PC with Windows 8, a laptop with windows 7 during an airplane flight, and the same PC just this morning with Windows 7. Major, but not touched enough issue right here. ""The installer requires Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable SP1 (if your operating system is x64 (64-bit), make sure you install both the x86 (32-bit) and x64 (64-bit) versions)." Right here, actually you need to download every Microsoft Visual C++ ranging from 2013-2008. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2019667 I know it sounds difficult, but if you're not willing to go an extra mile for the extra miles of work being done on TTW, there's Requiem and others. One last thing, TTW is the sex and so is this emoticon. Congrats, your TTW installer should work now. If it doesn't work, unfortunately you're doing something wrong.

| Ok , I just installed 2.6.3 from old hard copies + DLCs , it works perfectly fine, I also helped a friend installing it (with the steam ultimate edition NV + steam Goty fo3), again, no trouble whatsoever. as Dead Sirious said , looks like the last version installs like a charm if you have everything required. For people failing to get it working despite having the obvious requirements, the only things I think could get you in trouble are: -you have UAC full on- disable it, it's meant for virus paranoid +75yo grannies, and will often block installers from accessing things they need , for "security" reasons , and even if you own admin rights. -you do not use the *ENGLISH* version of the game -you're not using Windows 7, I heard XP & 8 or vista (but who da hell uses vista? ) can cause some trouble to the installer. Other than that , you're doing something wrong |
