| Hello! My question is would you love a completely urban fallout (City). I think this would be awesome! But, I want to hear what you think. So post what you think below! (Also what city/gameplay/story would fit in such a enviroment)

| If Bethesda or Obsidian can make a total city sprawl that doesn't run like a quadruple amputee, I'd really like that. But, unless they step up their engine optimization, that isn't going to happen. _________________ We have arrived, and it is now that we perform our charge. | I'll love it in the same way I love shoplifters and other assorted pond scum: with extreme violence. _________________ We have arrived, and it is now that we perform our charge. | Definitively not. I like roaming in landscape and to see changes when walking. There won't enough beasts, creatures and wild creatures by making a fallout only urban. Making cities larger ? Why not. _________________ Splatter, splatter, splatter, gnnnniihhh and....SPLATTER! |

| Half of me is saying yes and the other side is no. Yes because as I've seen the other concept art of FO3 and FO4 and it was all urban; it looked heckin good with the ruins of a city. No because its already somewhat of a formula for the series. If its fully urban, there wouldnt be that much change in landscape and scenery. It will only be just a pile of ruined buildings, subways, destroyed roads, etc...which would be really boring and repetitive. The feel will dry off easily for me. But i do want a really retropunk-feel o___o Ever seen Adam Adamowickz's concept arts? Jesus if only the games were as sexy as that. I wouldn't play any other game. But then their game engine |

| The thing is for me is that Fallout is a western. It's all about exploring the wild west and the frontier, so being in an urban environment would take away from that.
Fallout in a city would just be Metro. It just wouldn't have the same atmosphere. _________________ "It's 106 miles to Arroyo, we've got a full fusion cell, half a pack of RadAway, it's midnight, and I'm wearing a 50 year old Vault 13 jumpsuit. Let's hit it." |

| In my opinion, Fallout has always been about having a mix of wide-open spaces and claustrophobic vaults and caves. When people think "nuclear annihilation" they often think of images from Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and indeed the game intros themselves mention these historic bombings specifically to evoke mental images of a terrain blown entirely flat by the nuclear blasts, with nothing but a few empty skeletons of buildings standing as foreboding metal scarecrows reminding you of man's unbridled capacity for destruction.
That, to me, is also the essence of the Fallout atmosphere. Witnessing the lasting effects of this destruction, the scarring of the land on a scale so grand it can never truly be fully recovered from. The wasteland in itself is haunting, frightening and more effective at evoking a feeling of dread than any jump-scare could ever achieve. And I fear this would be all but entirely lost in a Fallout which is mostly urban city.
As for urban sections, I also think this is one of the things Fallout 4 got right. The city of Boston and surrounding townships is probably one of the most successful portrayals of a big city in the universe so far (and makes Diamond City feel laughably small in comparison), and it is genuinely fun exploring the streets and seeing the architecture of a city left largely unscathed by the end of the world. But it also highlights something I simultaneously consider a bit of a misstep in the design process, namely focusing on a historic city with existing buildings which doesn't really at any point reflect the very Fallout-specific retro-futuristic art deco noir style of previous cities, instead staying much closer to existing real-world designs and relying on real architectural styles like googie and raygun-gothic.
This is perhaps the danger when choosing a real-world city as the backdrop for your fictional game, deciding how much you want to stay anchored in reality. The older games did not really have these problems, most of the cities are relatively new and built on the rubble of the past (like the Hub and Junktown), with only a few like New Reno and San Francisco keeping any kind of ties to their pre-war pasts.
A Fallout game should have urban city areas, definitely. But an ALL-urban setting would be a detriment, I feel, for its lack of variety. Fallout 3 tried that, and it was the biggest gripe I personally had with the game. So much of it was dull grey and concrete rubble everywhere, separated into small areas connected by an unavoidable subway system while forgetting what makes pre-war ruins exciting to begin with. Exploration and scavenging. _________________ |

| I don't see how it could be explained, that the environment is "only" urban...my suspension of disbelief is active in fallout 4 because as you get near the edge of the map...there really isn't anything there (body of water to the east, sprawling wasteland to the west) As my character nears the western, southern, northern borders of the map, i believe it's clear that "there isn't anything out there worth the risk"
However, I would like a "semi-progressive" map where you start out in the vault and rather than making it to the surface immediately, perhaps instead you exit through an alternate/emergency exit into a tunnel/sewer system network...that only connect to other secure vaults/fortified subterranean structures. So the option to never emerge to the wasteland exists...an entire "world" exists below the surface.

| No. Fallout 3 and 4 had enough urban areas and NV even had it's fair share of them even with it's mostly desert landscape.
Alternatively, I want competely desert landscapes where it would take in-game days, even weeks to wander wide distances to get to even a small fraction of the map discovered. |

| Assuming it could be optimized to run properly, i think it would be an amazing concept for a Fallout landscape. I would love to have towering skyscrapers and smaller buildings within an urban sprawl to explore. If every building was open and able to be explored, i could see this being something really interesting. Different factions would control specific sectors of the city and have their main bases be in some of the more significant buildings. We could have Ewok styled settlements, where the houses and locations within the city would be connected via shanty town style bridges and what not that would span the length of a section of buildings. Enemies could be more airborne and would attack you when you try and cross buildings up in the sky and armor and weapons could have an emphasis on aerial combat. Down on the ground would be the most dangerous place where there would be constant battle and fighting between the factions and creatures that dwell in the city. Then when you get down to the sewers and subway tunnels, that's where it could get eerie and creepy while being filled with Metro 2033 styled settlements. Long story short, if it could be done in an interesting and fun way, i could see it being something truly unique and fun. For those that are interested, you could check out some gameplay and trailers from an old Xbox 360 arcade game titled "I Am Alive". It was about a guy trying to find his wife and kid (i think, it's been a while so forgive me if i got it wrong lol) in the aftermath of a disaster that destroyed a good chunk of Chicago and the streets below the buildings are full of this gas or smoke that is deadly after long exposure and you have to be careful of where you go and how long you go down into the streets. Really cool game and speaks to this idea of an urban Fallout rather well i think _________________ This is War, Survival is Your Responsibility. |

| Long as it doesn't run at 10fps on a 1070 at 1080p or 1440p and 99% of the buildings aren't inaccessible, sure. They'll probably need a new engine too. |

| a fallout game styled in new york city or Chicago, id say more chicago because you got the massive main city and could venture into sub urban outlying areas, i.e gary which would look no different than it did before the war and the great lakes area could provide neat exploration. personally though id like a fallout in california again after the events of nv see whats changed since 1&2. _________________ |

| A Fallout game designed for urban combat? Well, sign me right up. Fighting in narrowing streets and alleyways would make it much more harder to escape from a well-timed grenade, fighting from building to building and making it ten times harder to snipe due to the skyscrapers and debris.
For storywise. The protagonist may not need to be from a Vault and could come from a land dweller, brought into a conflict between several factions: Brotherhood of Steel (Controls the capital and the center of the city) Enclave remnants (West district and several other chokepoints) Raiders/Slavers (The entire Eastern district, has the populace under their whim and control) Children of the Atom (Controls the underground passages and certain alleyways)
All factions could be made joinable and by joining each makes the others hate you more. Raiders being the one hated by everyone. Children of the Atom would most likely be hated by the BOS and Raiders. Joining the Enclave will have the BOS gunning after you like crazy. Joining the Brothers of Steel will have you being fired upon by plasma rifles everywhere you go.
Firefights in urban areas will make it more interesting. No Vertibirds. Artillery won't help this time.
Cons: Imagine running into a Deathclaw while in a narrow passageway and your companion decides to block your way. _________________ I seem to have lost a Penny. |

| I'm interested in seeing a Fallout based in New york OR in another country (For example: Italy, Rome. Imagine how wonderful would it be? Seeing the colosseum is still standing even though its years, Romans made their buildings to last, while more modern structures are debris) ). _________________ Only the Dead have seen the end of War |
