| MO tells me now I am using "a newer version of Fallout than this version of F4SE supports". I am relatively new to this game and I thought it was "finished". Have you heard of such an update? EDIT: For anyone who is looking for a solution: - Link:

| Unfortunately these updates for FO4 (and SSE) happen way to frequently. It doesn't just cause failure for F4SE but any mod that uses it. Some mod authors have tired of updating their mods because of this. Glad you found a solution to post. I'm still running a version 3 updates back and swearing at Beth a lot less often because of this solution you posted. Truth is I will have to update sometime and will just do a clean install.....and then shut off updates again |

| Glad you shared the solution, experiencing the same problem. I feel bad for the Script Extender team trying to keep up with 4's updates, I agree they happen way too frequently, especially since the update seems to be just Creation Club content. |

| I have my Steam set to "Only update this game when I launch it", so when I see Fallout 4 needs an update I just make a backup of the game & documents folder. Once that is done I update the game on Steam, then delete (not uninstall) the game folder and move the backup back to that location. Though to be fair this isn't the method that works for everyone since some are low on disk space etc. to do this. Especially if your FO4 game folder is 80-100+ GB in size with mods. So many hoops to jump through LOL to avoid breaking my modded FO4 game.
The last couple of updates have all been Creation Club stuff so if the patch contains NO game fixes, then I have no interest in it. Since I don't care about CC related items. I feel the same way that the script extender team has to yet again release an update just because of Christmas related Creation Club items coming soon. |

| This is the reason why I won't even touch Fallout 4. I would love to play Cascadia but Creation Club is ruining the modding experience. I guess once that mod does release and if Creation Club is still in the game, I will just have to put up with it. |

| I wish we could have a "Download only when bought" implemented like Steam Workshop, having to download stuff you won't use is so dumb. |

| @Prosp3ro I actually used that trick just last night for Skyrim SE. I was playing all day. Left the game, came back to restart and found out it was updated. I found a different video outlining the same method and was finally able to get back in the game. One thing I did was cut or copy the updated EXE into a backup folder. It's annoying as hell. I noticed they changed the how update works. It used to be you could set it to not update at all. Now you're forced to update when you launch. |

As long as you launch from FO4SE or the equivalent in SSE, it won't update on launch. Only if you launch through Steam will it force the update on you. You still have to change the update setting in Steam to only update on launch...they did remove the ability to shut off updates entirely |

| Yea I really miss that option to shut off updates completely, I wish Steam would re-implement it. |

| I launch through mod organizer via FO4SE and yeah, it skips the update (usually). |
