Hey guys,

so as the title states, when loading up a save, it's just instant CTD, does anybody know a solution to this?

It started doing this as soon as I updated to the most recent windows 10 update, even without any ENBs

I've had this issue as well i found that running it in compatibility mode for windows 7 or windows xp(pack3) works. Also dont forget to update your drivers as well go to your search bar, type drivers then select update drivers then find your graphics card driver and right click it and check and search for an update. If that doesn't work go your program files look for your past version and downgrade back to the previous driver version. Let me know how that works

@vahn65 I've just started a fresh install of my windows, as soon as it starts back up I will try this if the install fails, I'll let you know. Thankyou sir

The problem is that Microsoft changed something in their display driver with the anniversary update, which crashes Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas. If you have a Nvidia Graphics card then install drivers 368.81 or below, everything abover Drivers 368.81 will crash these games.
It's the same for AMD cards, you need to install older drivers, but I don't know which ones since I have a Nvidia card myself.

Yes like Wurm45 said its the graphics card driver. i literally just finished fixing it. I have a gtx 980 and had to go back to driver 368.69. just download the driver uninstall the old one by going to driver manager, find display adapter, double click on yours, click uninstall driver, restart and install the driver you just downloaded. That should fix your prob. Good luck

I had the same problem, I Reverted my drivers to a lower version and that worked for me.

I used a d3d9.dll from the nexus and its fixed the issue without having revert drivers.

@cody61 that works too, as long as you don't want an ENB.

@wurm45 Well it seems ENB's might actually work with that fix after a few tweaks to the ini.

Thanks for the info Guys, I've just got my computer back in order after the reboot, unfortunately that did nothing to help, although i'm glad i did it i was long overdue a fresh install

I'm going to go down the route Vahn & Wurm suggested, just need to figure out how to downgrade to driver 368.81

I'd take out the dll file but I'm after trying out some ENBs

UPDATE -

Okay so I did that, but the driver only rolled back to 369.09 and won't give me the option to roll back anymore.

And New Vegas still doesn't work :\

BOOM, downloaded it from their site (should have realised that's how you do it, i'm a moron) and New Vegas now works!

Im glad it worked out bud!! enbs are a bit tricky with the new drivers for somme reason hope its fixed soon but you are welcome!

@Lucianhector as vahn said, good to hear it's working for you. Let's just hope Microsoft, Nvidia or Bethesda fix it soon, or we will be stuck with old drivers forever.

OKay so I am having the same issues myself now after helping the OP out. I just got a new laptop and it just will not play with enbs for FO3 and FNV wont work with or without ENB. Doesn't anyone have any solutions?

I guess you tried the older drivers already. Also make sure that the game is using the dedicated graphics card, if you have one, and not the cpu graphic chip. Getting the 4GB launcher and putting the ENB DLL into the exes folder of it should also help.

I did get new Vegas to work ironically by updating my drivers but fallout 3 is the issue now

@vahn65 is it a Steam or non steam version ? The non Steam version might need GFWL to work.

Back rolling a driver made New Vegas work, but would still crash with ENBs

So I tried a fresh install and that worked for both new Vegas and new Vegas ENBs

So you could try that, hopefully it would work, but obviously that would mean potentially fucking up mods etc

Fallout 3 flat out wouldn't work for me, but my windows suggested some software to download to make older games compatible. And it worked, but not with ENBs :/ I havnt had time to tinker with that yet

If I produce any results for fallout 3 ENBs I'll let you guys know on this thread, and I would request you guys please do the same haha
