Best weapon in New Vegas = Plasma Caster. Energized beast.

In Fallout 4, I'm going to have to go with my signature Auto 10mm explosive pistol.

FNV: Triple Laser Rifle! You get the laser, but with extras! :3

My favorite is the Laser RCW from FNV. I love tommy guns and I love energy weapons.

This is my first time posting something so I do not know if this will show up correctly but my best weapon in Fallout New Vegas and 4 would have to be the M14 by FF7CloudStrife and Moniterman (in Fallout 4) and Millenia (in New Vegas)

Clint's Fistful by PyroJesus, Colt SAAs never go out of style. I've got a M1877 Lightning IRL, naturally the M1877 or SAA is my first pick in whatever game has them.

Lincoln's repeater rifle from Fallout 3 was one of my favorite guns. It had excellent range and had very good damage.

For Fallout 3 it was the Lincoln's Repeater, in New Vegas it was the Cowboy Repeater, and in Fallout 4 it's the lever action rifle! :3 I'm just a huge fan of Rifles in the Fallout universe. XD

seeing as i use the realistic weapon damage mod just about every gun can do the trick in a fight but id have to say the Bozar is the best gun i've got on my character if only because of its high rate of fire.
although i think in terms of raw power Ansaar's Spas-12 is the strongest but i did increase the damage on it a little so that might be cheating...
and i've stopped playing Fallout 4 for the moment so i guess nothing

I'm seeing answers all over the place so I'll go with the presumption that "if you can load it in your game it's a viable answer"

from a realistic rifle/unrealistic ammo type my best weapon is an FN SCAR with explosive rounds chambered in .50 (a dreamer dreaming...)

from a standpoint of simply "oh shit that's so awesome" it's the Gatling gun mod...chambered in 12gauge (I know...I know a shoulder stocked rotor-barrel shotgun...SICK!)

however, I find myself being overly sappy and wanting to my protagonist to carry what I do in real life hk usp chambered in .45ACP

Base game NV, I go with either all American or anti material rifle. Amr for most enemies and AA for those who get close.

With mods, I lean towards pistols I tweaked in the geck. I'm a big fan of pistols and like when games put emphasis on them. Like Left 4 Dead. The pistols are a necessity. So I dl a few pistol mods and open them in the geck to alter their stats and make them practically weightless.

My main pistol is a usp from a stalker mod. Chambered with 9mm. Pretty good damage since its my main.

Another I will carry is a 32. Pistol from ttw(which makes it chamber 22lr), but it's got a bit more of a kick and an extra ammo cap. That's my fall back weapon in case I run out. Ammo is plentiful for it.

Also I use millennias .38 pistol chambered with 357. I tweak it to be just a little stronger than a normal 357 revolver.

An alternate main is a five7. It has a high fire rate and good crit, but is noticeably weaker than my usp.

Then I have my heavy pistols. I only got 3 and only carry two at a time.

Millennias Mauser pistol chambered with 1.27. It packs a heavy hit, but ammo is scarce and has a low ammo cap.

Millennias desert eagle. Same thing as the Mauser. Both have slightly higher damage stats than default. I alternate between these two.

My last heavy is a base game 357 pistol chambered with .45-.50. It's got great damage, but ammo is rare.

I carry other guns as well, but I definitely favor pistol. I carry a lot.

Edit: I also use an op mod gun. A ranger sequoia that does 1000 damage per shot. The drawback is that it uses mini nukes for ammo(not an explosive weapon). Mini nukes are fairly rare so it makes me rarely use the gun. It's when I'm about to die by a powerful enemy. Like if I get swarmed by death claws.

Vanilla FNV would be the Hunting rifle. I usually play the sneaky sniper type in most of my playthroughs. If I'm going in close I'll use a hunting shotgun or riot shotgun. As for handguns I go for a silenced 10mm pistol.

Playing FNV with mods I would say the ar-15 by HyperX. I love the ar-15/m16/m4 platform so I use it most often. Other than that for long range I now use Ansaars M40a6. It's a beautiful bolt action rifle with the right amount of rounds and a perfect amount of mods.

I usually take down legionarys before they even know what's going on.

Honestly man I really liked most of the guns but I always liked western movies so I really enjoyed using the .44 magnum. Usually had a fan the hammer mod just to make it more enjoyable

My two favorites are a HK416 and a style fitting M14 EBR/SOPMOD (or whatever exactly it's called). Which I pieced together from different mods. And then there's the G36K which I gave a longer barrel and a little longer forend.
