Yeah, Rebels looks amazing. I am very much looking forwards to it.
Just got my copy of the Bounty Hunters Code. I can't say I like it as much as the Jedi Path or Book of the Sith, but its not bad. What i'm really looking forwards to is the Imperial Handbook.
Edit: Just watched that video, and it was pretty good, and shows Rebels is going to be a very fun series to follow. The animations seem a little off at times, too fast and unrefined perhaps (compared to TCW), but generally it was all I expected, and I found Ezra less annoying than I thought I would. Had to search for another source, however, as that video can't be viewed outside the US.

Star Wars in general was my fanboy roaring through me as a little kid. Now I generally watch The Clone Wars, Season 1 was crap, the rest got better, especially Season 4 and 5. With Rebels coming and getting first impressions I only think it's going to be okay. Dialogue's a bit iffy, animation seems weak compared to others. I only hope it will get better as episodes go on.

On the animation being somewhat weak front, as someone put it on the Force.net forums, "...that's probably because TCW was a show entirely funded by an eccentric billionaire who could throw buckets of cash at the episodes."
Rang a cord. TCW was the sole major Star Wars production, but Rebels is a single new projects, with the films being the focus. I can get sued to a step back in quality of animation. I've already watched the clip three times, so its good enough, apparently.

Actually, I don't think these short clips are going to be in the show, think they might be stand alone teasers. So pretty safe, I believe. (Edit: Or I could be wrong, as they do seem to be referencing stuff from the look ahead and show.)
I like Hera and Kanan's banter. And the droid is awesome.

I see them playing it safe with this one. I think it looks good but it is kinda more of the same. Hero's journey with group dynamics. The key will be if they can do it right. Group dynamics is one thing that made the classic Star Wars work so well. Especially compared to the prequels. Character interaction is a requirement for a story to be good. Just look at Guardians of the Galaxy. Clone wars was unique because it wasn't tied down to one set of characters and it embraced that. Plus it did well. After season 1.

I'm not too hardcore of a fan of Star Wars, just the main films and a few of the games. Although I've heard great things about the animated series, should I watch that? I don't wanna watch it if it's too "kid friendly", although if it's for everyone and has a decent plot and voice acting I'll give it a shot.

Before you go on and watch The Clone Wars, there's another title called Clone Wars by Genndy Tartakovsky that everyone who watches his stuff likes better, you should probably give it a try before moving on. Notice my avatar. Now The Clone Wars movie and season 1 are rather poor but each season gets better(There were a lot of dismemberment from what I've remember, and they've even shown some bits of fanservice around too.)

Kid friendly? There are the occasional episodes centered around the droids or Jar-Jar which are utterly horrific.
But then here is a post I made earlier...

The Clone Wars is amazing, film and series. It's very, very dark in ways that fly over the young ones heads, but grown up fans can appreciate. The blank staring eyes of dead clones. Droids questioning sentience. Creeper moments like Hondo running his thumb over Ahsoka's lip. In the Netflix only season 6 we also get to see a Hutt toilet stall, and what the inside of a public 'fresher'/toilet looks like in SW. I always wondered, just a little. In that same season, I found one of the darkest moments of the entire thing was a clone medic (his dead brothers floating limply around him) obviously terrified as the droids approach, alone in the vacuum of space in a crippled transport, and he throw himself out of cover (he is doomed, anyway) and takes one with him... before they show the killing shot rip into him. Less ballsy shows would have cut away.
The micro-series is also worth a watch, as was suggested. And you are in luck!

I'm not what anyone would term a rabid fan. I stood in line and watched Star Wars three times when it premiered in 1977. I cheered for Darth Vader even though I was happy the rebels won. I own all of the movie DVDs and the animated Clone Wars series. I have read a couple of the books and understand George Lucus' resistance to those attempting to hijack or redirect his vision for the series. Since he created it, we are along for the ride. I am happy that he is providing advice on the next installment. Haven't really been following it. I am not to worried about Disney as they understand the need to protect the cash cow although I fear we will be hit with a tidal wave of merchandise when the movie is released. I found parts that I like and disliked in all of the movies so I don't have one that is my stand out favorite. I liked the animated Clone Wars series and thought that the end of the series was appropriate as it it is a harsh lesson in blind faith to leaders and ideals. I agree with Alixen that the series was not designed just for kids and there was a good deal of symbolism and darker undertones that most kids would probably miss but adults would pick up on. Cpt. Rex has renewed my interest with his video suggestions and I will be looking for more of them. Thanks for the suggestions!!!! Just my Opinion!!!! Cheers!!! V/R MistTiger

My hype and enthusiasm has waned to a low simmer, so thankfully I can go back to other things without just wanting to shove Star Wars into it. Still looking forwards to Rebels though.

As a kid I loved Star Wars but when I got older I pretty much forgot about it.
Then there was a bunch of controversy surrounding the re-established canon, so I decided to get back into it. I love Star Wars even more so now - as a kid I never really was in it for anything except lightsaber battles.
A lot of people are still mad about the canon, but I'm kind of thankful - I would have never known where to start with the old expanded universe stuff, there was so much. But now, it's like, a book, a comic mini-series, and two shows.
I'm really hype about Darth Maul right now.

Grievous is my favorite Star wars character of all time, and My father introduced me to these at a young age so I have loved star wars my whole life. I also think that it was time for a now canon for it.
