Hello Everyone! Man Ive been looking for a community like this for the longest time. I had heard about this site from several youtube vids. Anyway Im pretty excited about Modding! i jist finished my first build thanks to the guys over at PCMasterRace. And i want to start creating mods for fallout. The only problem is i have no idea where to start. Anyone have any tips or tutorials to help me along please feel free to suggest them i promise to check most of em out. From what ive heard so far is people get demoted or kicked very easily here for inactivity. Is that true? should i be worried? i am a full time student and work a full time job so i cant be here 24/7 but i will be here learning as much as i can!

Welcome to GUN my friend! Enjoy your stay! You shouldn't worry about demotions, just don't be a lurker. At least say thanks to the mod authors, when you download something. Act like a decent human being, and you will have no problem. Wink

you don't have to be logged in all the time, just don't be a lurker.

Also getting started with modding would be easier if you already some kind of goal/specific interest, like armors, weapons, gameplay changes, environmental mods, animations etc.

The tools you need depend on your mods. But the must haves are of course Creation Kit and FO4EDIT.

There are tutorials on youtube and other webs (like Nexus or even Tumblr), that cover weapon modding, armor creation etc, try with google first.

Not that I'm competitive...ok I am...but i'm far more of a newb than you...I can't mod; This is a great community...quite active as well...the more you're around the more fun you have.

Thanks guys! wow i was gone for a work but did not expect this many replies so i guess people are really active here! And thanks @praising i will definitely check out that topic! I wasn't clear enough sorry what i want to learn is how to port armors and weapons from other games.

Welcome to the community,@ZionI! I wouldn't worry about being demoted for inactivity. Unless your busy 24 hours a day for 6 months, you should be fine. 6 months without contributing anything is the lowest amount of time I've seen someone been demoted for. They're not unfair, just as long as you don't 'lurk', you're fine.

as for your demotion question, that demotion feature only belongs to members that have a colonial status or above. for a better understanding i have copy and paste a post that i have made a few days ago in another topic. i see there are still people here on gun who spread out false information about the demotions... so here is the text.

"if someone ( a colonial or up ) has no time anymore for whatever reason and decide to make a break from gun then this is not a problem at all. real life comes allways first. the member dont get demoted for that. BUT, if a member ( a colonial or up ) do stop being active ( no posts for a certain matter of time ) but comes online on a regular base then this is the cause that leads to demotion. because then we asuming the member comes only online to see if there are new mods and nothing more and that is lurking. in the end gunetwork is a comunity and not a download hub."
