| The last time I played FO4 was when I beat Automatron near its release. I've been looking at whatever big mods popped up, but my desire to keep playing wasn't really there. Now that all the DLC are out, which I haven't been really following either, I've decided to give it another playthrough. What are your thoughts on Fallout 4's DLC as a whole? Was it worth the original Season Pass price, was it worth the updated price? Did it fix whatever issues you had with the base game? Looking at the reviews, I'm prepared to be dissapointed in everything except for Far Harbor, but please give me your spoiler-free impressions. |

| The original season pass price, yes. The later higher price no. Dont get me wrong i do enjoy a good base building session but 2 full settlement dlc is pants. Automatron was good if short. Far harbour was outright the best of them and biggest. Nuka world is good but could of been better. And that really sums up fallout 4. Good but could be better |

| No, it wasn't worth the price. Bethesda made a terrible design choice of DLC as a whole, the settlements parts (which I think that they would be better as free updates)Â were over-focused so much over story content (Far Harbor).Â
Each DLC (excluding settlement stuff)Â has its up and downs. My favorite DLC is a consensus between Far Harbor and Automatron (I may hate on paid settlement stuff, but i'm a builder of things in the end.).
My only hope is that Bethesda sees what happened with those DLC and improve their design choices over them. _________________ Discord: renaissance#1866 |

| TL;DR Happy that I saved money on the season pass before it bumped up on price. I hate the workshop DLC. Far Harbour and Nuka World were awesome. Did not sour my opinion of Bethesda.
I got the season pass before the price was bumped up so it was 30 or 40 dollars and I'm happy in the perspective that I saved a considerable amount of money but I'm not so happy about the quality of the DLCs.
I thought Far Harbour and Nuka World were great, I loved them. Automatron was alright. I don't even consider the workshop packs to be DLC. Just cop-outs of actual DLC. They're essentially the Sims 3 stuff packs equivalent of Fallout 4, except the content they add is completely useless and pointless, ESPECIALLY the contraptions one.
Skyrim had three great DLCs. Hearthfire was great for console players because they didn't have access to mods. There was already a mod equivalent of that dlc. I would've been fine with that. There great DLCs for Fallout 4. Just forget about all of the workshop stuff. I don't think I hate Bethesda. I'm still gonna buy their games regardless. _________________ "Give me back my frickin' legions, you mong!" - Absolutely Gaius Julius Caesar |

| It was worth it for me since I preordered it along with the season pass on gmg while the 25 percent coupons were still an option. For people who paid the full price, probably not. I had fun with the game, but I hope for a sequel/spinoff with more clean slate roleplaying options instead of playing as father. Kids are literally the thing I hate the most in the world and fear. I fear having them that is _________________ |

| Its pretty decent overall, like the big DLCs are awesome it brings new maps, new story, and new characters the quality of those DLC are truly improvement over Fo4 and answered the complaints of fans. But the other "DLCs" are just minor gimmicky content like the only good thing there is the automatron which is good in my eyes but for others its pretty shit. |

| @Dreceratops I have a similar situation as yours but instead of Automatron (which I finished), I bailed out of FO4 when playing Far Harbor & them construction DLCs (which I didn't finish or thoroughly checked out).. I still don't feel like going back to FO4. Actually went back to Skyrim, New Vegas instead. I personally feel that FO4 has not gripped me the same way as Skyrim or New Vegas. I'm not saying that FO4 is a bad game. FO4 is still a good game & it's DLCs are also good. It's probably just a matter of preferrence. Paying full for season pass or all DLCs is not worth it, best to get it at a discounted price. |

| I only loved like 3 DLC's.
Far Harbor, Nuka World and the Vault workshop one. The contraption DLC's where completly useless to me. Far Harbor had a really nice enviroment reminding me of Point Lookout and Nuka World was just a goofy DLC adding in the 'bad' playstyle. (Wich should have been in the game from the start but i never play bad anyway) The Vault one i actually have little complaints about. In vanilla you can only have around 20-30 settlers wich is dumb, Space to build is tight and NPC's dont really scatter across the vault they just sit in in the main area
It's a meh DLC size compared to F:NV but FO3's DLC's wheren't great either. _________________ |

| I'am a bit dissapointed by the dlc.. alot is about building settlements and the vaults but that's not really my playstyle. Nuka world and far harbor are the only ones who are worth the money.. far harbor has a nice setting and story and nuka world lets you explore the more dark sides of your character.. Although i miss the opportunity to play as a complete badass.. luckily i've also bought the season pass. |

| I'm incredibly disappointed that there were no appearances, even in brief, by the Enclave.
That said, ignoring the workshop based DLC, I will admit they did some decent work. Far Harbour has a better atmosphere than most of the base game, and is great for survival roleplay.
Automatron I loved if only because it gave me an oppertunity to fight and redeem a super villain as... THE SILVER SHROUD! I'm glad Bethesda realized early on what a hit that questline was among the fans, and decided to take it into a DLC. I also really liked Cruz as a character, a shame she couldn't be used as a companion, and convinced to be a hero. Ah well, I suppose she makes a good tech-gal/Alfred while her base serves as a good Crypt (i.e. Batcave) for my Shroud.
Nuka-World I'm split on. There is a lot to like, but the content suffers (but not as much as is being played up by a lot of people) if you are good or work for order, but the visuals are great, the Magician also makes another cool Shroud villain even if there is no special dialog, the concept is interesting, and I'm sure an eventual raider character will have a blast with it.

| It is completely baffling to me that Bethesda would choose to make one "real" expansion, a couple of Sims-style building DLC packs and Nuka World, which I have not gotten yet and can't really place as either.
It makes it hard to have an opinion on FO4 as a whole because I just don't understand what they were thinking, and honestly I believe that they don't know either. It feels a little like the DLC was something they had the interns do while most of the writers and coders were busy with something else (maybe bethesda.net and their attempts at console modding?), or maybe they just thought so little of their fans that they figured some tiny content packs could help condition players to buy paid mods in the future. Because let's be fair, most of the DLC was below the standards of almost any mod you'd find on the nexus.
All in all, while the base game was alright, it was one step forwards in terms of gameplay and two steps back in terms of roleplaying and world building. And the DLC (save for far harbor) was almost insulting. I was getting fever flashbacks to Oblivion horse armour. I thoroughly enjoyed the gunplay and graphics, story was forgettable and barely felt like Fallout to me any more.
If only the entire game and all DLC could been up to the standard of Far Harbor. _________________ |

| In my opinion it was defiantly worth the original price. Not...so much the new price. I will say this. Automatron was much better than expected and Far Harbor was incredible! Vault Tech...erm...not sure. Still haven't gotten around to it, and as for the new Nuka World it's...okay.
The positives of Nuka World is some of the new loot and it's a decent size with fun places to explore. The negatives...well, I'll let you see for yourself.
Anyway, I'd say everything was worth the original price, but the increase they did....no. |

| Thanks for the replies, everyone. I think I'll save Far Harbor for last, because it seems that everyone loves it, or at the very least, likes it more than the base game. To follow up on the original questions, how does FO4 DLC compare to FO3 and FNV DLC? How's it compare to Skyrim's DLC? Are any parts as bad as Horse Armor? _________________ |

| Actually, while I remember... did anyone else notice the sarcastic/funny lines fell utterly flat in the DLC for the most part? I found most of them really jarring and out of tone. It's almost like the voice actors had gotten out of character, and so just decided to sound 'whacky' as they spewed senseless stuff. |

| You see the issue i had with the fallout 4 DLC .Is i do not think Bethesda put quite a lot of effort in them i think for them it was more of an experimental project rather than expanding the game and such. To be quite frank i am really disappointed with what has come out i was expecting DLC along the lines of fallout 3 something that was more quest based rather than just adding more features.
I do hope that the rumor of fallout New Orleans is true i think it would have an awesome setting. |

| @Dreceratops I'm gonna be honest. If you compare the FO4 DLCs to the FO3/NV or Skyrim DLCs...you'll be sorely disappointed. The FO4 stuff is good in it's own right, but defiantly doesn't hold up to what we got in FO3, NV, and Skyrim. But, that's just my opinion. |

| My opinion is, as of now, based on my time with the game which starts just before the release of the vault tec workshop release. Keep in mind, I've never played this game "vanilla" as it was a mod video on youtube that drew me in to the fallout world in the first place...It was just in a feed of other things I was watching and I said...wait what is this? when does this come out? then I realized it had been out.
Could I recommend FO4 to others? That depends on if I can or cannot suggest they play with mods. It's literally why I play.
As for your question...since some of the greatest mods require at least one...some...or all of the DLC that is the reason I would suggest getting all of the DLC. As these are the building blocks of what makes this game great...the content created with the DLC material.
Wasteland Workshop: If I use this I don't know that I do...however so many mods require it...so it's a prerequisite of "awesome" Automatron: who doesn't like robots...and all of the mods that unlock/unleash the potential that is there? (securitron/eyebot robots...why wasn't this part of the vanilla pack?...oversight) Contraptions: I have yet to use hardly any of the vanilla pieces...but again this is needed for mods I use...so I have it. Far Harbor: I played through this whole DLC before I even completed the main storyline...it was this DLC that made me want to go back and actually play the main quest...Far Harbor in my opinion is better than the main quest of the basegame...other than Dima...and his puzzles...that was just fucking annoying. Vault Tec Workshop: Oh how this appealed to my need to create...and also caused so much headache...the vanilla pieces are so limiting and content seems so stripped once you start to see the possibilities opened by the mods created to FIX this dlc...I haven't finished this dlc, I'm waiting until more mods are released or AIOs (or I learn how to make AIOs) before I go build the vault that I envision...although I don't like the layout of vault 88 I like the premise on which the DLC is built. "build a vault" the idea that i'm a post apocalyptic vault tec architect is rather exciting...especially if I write that into the backstory of my character (lone survivor: ex military corp of engineer flipped to vault tec civilian contractor to build and design the next evolution of vaults...tricked into being frozen...released 200 years later and now has the chance to finish the project he was originally assigned to)
Nuka World...oh the bane of half baked bread...a great recipe...decent half sided quest (raider side) I have my quips and such with the dialogue of the faction leaders and how they talk to the overboss...i do enjoy the continuity if you've finished the main quest...how at least Gage is aware of it...speaking of Gage...what a...oh you don't want spoilers. My current playthrough of Nuka World and the path I've taken leaves a bit to be desired...my true excitement about nuka world is that it's the last DLC...which means a few "fix/break" patches from now...the community of modding will hopefully explode into something even more fantastic than it already has become. _________________ |

| Out of all the DLC the only 2 imo that are worth buying are the Vault tec workshop DLC and Far Harbor. The reason why I included VTW was because I think that it's a very good dlc for $5.00 especially since you get access to an underground area to build your own vault in. Far Harbor was good because the environment reminded me of Point Lookout for FO3 which I thoroughly enjoyed. |
